“Cough, cough, cough!”

It was the first time Yizhui had encountered something like this. He was completely stunned and nearly choked on his own dragon tongue, clutching his neck with both hands. He struggled to swallow, and then the figure loomed over him.

Clapping his hands, Luo Mingyu looked at the person who had fallen to the ground with Yizhui and sighed helplessly. “Ruoxi, don’t fuss with him. Little bug, I’ll ask you—do you want to sign the contract? If you do…”

He raised his right hand, revealing the Night Pearl that sparkled with a refined brilliance. The pure white gem was flawless; anyone in the field would know its immense value.

Yizhui’s eyes lit up, completely entranced by the Night Pearl, unable to move.

Luo Mingyu tapped his nose and smiled faintly. “This one’s yours. And this, this, this…”

It was as if money didn’t matter. Luo Mingyu kept producing peerless treasures one by one. Finally, he unfurled a map showing a gold mine. The person lying on the floor didn’t hesitate—he bit his finger and signed the contract with Yizhui.

However, he was tricked by Luo Mingyu again. The moment the contract was signed, due to the equal-life-and-death clause, he didn’t even touch the treasures. He was immediately pulled back into the magical beast’s space, left alone, roaring in frustration.

“Luo Mingyu, what’s going on?” Ling Ruoxi finally reacted as she saw him approach Luo Jiangyu, using Dou Qi to shield his body and repair his injuries.

Though Yizhui was covered in blood, he wasn’t hurt—only a nosebleed from the earlier bump.

Clutching the child tightly, Ling Ruoxi looked at Luo Jiangyu. As a medicinal doctor, she sensed the man’s condition was serious.

Frowning slightly, she placed Yizhui on a nearby bed and gently pressed her fingers to Luo Jiangyu’s pulse. His complexion changed drastically.

He had already suffered internal injuries during his previous fight with the wyvern. Now, even though his body had been treated, forcibly retracting Dou Qi during battle had severely affected him. Combined with his current injuries, internal recovery would take time, even if external wounds could be healed with Dou Qi.

Moreover, he was elderly; these internal and external injuries… perhaps…

“Old Yu, how do you feel? Can you endure it?” Luo Mingyu’s smile remained faint, but there was no playful trace in his expression.

He produced a pill and forced Luo Jiangyu to swallow it. Then, he helped him sit on another small sofa. Purple Dou Qi slowly infused his body, and the wounds visibly healed.

The only difference was Luo Jiangyu’s complexion remained pale, and he panted heavily, clearly exhausted.

“Is your Dou Qi sufficient?” Ling Ruoxi frowned. She knew Luo Jiangyu’s body had been worn down over years of work, and many of his blood vessels were blocked. Clearing them with Dou Qi would take considerable time.

Luo Mingyu raised an eyebrow and smiled. “Why don’t you try?”

“Mm.” Seeing how tired he was, Ling Ruoxi didn’t hesitate. With a thought, silver needles automatically emerged from her storage ring. With a flick of her right hand, the needle pierced three fingers deep into Luo Jiangyu’s flesh. Silver light glimmered as the long needles sank into his body.

In just the time it took for an incense stick to burn, his upper body was filled with the needles. She tried to clear as many meridians as possible. By the time she finished the 108th needle, her right hand was nearly exhausted.

Rubbing her wrist, Ling Ruoxi said, “In half an hour, remove all the needles. I’ve cleared the blocked blood vessels; afterwards, you can use Dou Qi to dredge the meridians—much more effective than now.”

“Mm. Hopefully, he’ll be okay.” Luo Mingyu nodded, sitting down, still slightly weary, feeling a lingering unease, as if something important had been forgotten.

Half an hour later, Luo Mingyu removed the needles from Luo Jiangyu. Just as Ling Ruoxi said, the blocked meridians had been cleared, allowing him to move much faster.

“Old Yu, alright?” Luo Mingyu asked, relieved to see some improvement.

Pulled back from the brink of death, Luo Jiangyu hadn’t expected to survive. He nodded weakly. “I’m fine. Ruoxi, you’re Zuo Mingfeng’s disciple? Hah, he truly had a fine disciple. But I never had one… it seems…”

Thinking about how his legacy would end with no successor, Luo Jiangyu let out a soft laugh. In his youth, he had been too prideful to accept a disciple; now, he had no suitable candidate.

Luo Mingyu smiled, glancing at the little one sleeping on the bed. “I brought one for you. Yimeng is still a little girl; I’ll have her learn the knowledge from the island slowly. As for Yizhui, he’s up to you, Old Yu. What do you think?”

“You…” Luo Jiangyu trembled but laughed heartily. “Are you sure you want to entrust your son to me?”

“Your Overlord Spear could defeat ten men in one strike—divine or demon, none could stop it. Such spear skills cannot be lost. If you’re willing to take Yizhui as your disciple, it’s perfect. If not, I won’t force it.” Luo Mingyu was direct about his purpose—why he brought the two children to the academy.

But the children, being kids, didn’t understand. They only helped Old Yu clean instead of learning from him. Luo Mingyu was somewhat speechless.

“I’m willing! Of course, I am! Little Yu, your son Yizhui is from now on the inheritor of my Overlord Spear! I’ll teach him properly and record the Overlord Spear techniques for him. This spear must not be lost!” Luo Jiangyu laughed, almost too excited, coughing in between.

Ling Ruoxi quickly patted his back. “Take it easy. Your internal injuries aren’t fully healed—rest first.”

“Old age… time is short. It’s late. You should rest as well.” Luo Jiangyu smiled faintly, but his complexion was poor.

Luo Mingyu and Ling Ruoxi didn’t disturb him further, taking Yizhui with them to give him space. They knew his condition; as he said, his time was limited.

“Rest for now. Yizhui has that little dragon protecting him; he should be fine. You’ve always been weak—go bathe. I’ll prepare hot ginger soup.” Luo Mingyu touched the woman’s wet hair, knowing she had poured so much love into these children.

Ling Ruoxi nodded, changing Yizhui’s clothes and drying his soaked hair. So much had happened in just one night.

She couldn’t understand why Yizhui had suddenly changed, nor why Yimeng had cried, talking about dragons. How had she realized Yizhui was controlled by a dragon—and spoken so much about it?

And, most importantly, it was all true.

Looking at the little girl in the other bed, Ling Ruoxi recalled the time in the forest when Yimeng talked to birds and played with deer. Sometimes animals feared her; sometimes, they were unusually close.

Why was this?

“Ginger soup,” Luo Mingyu said, noticing her frown. He bent down, kissing her forehead. “What’s wrong? Scared by today’s events? Think of it as a dream… forget it.”

“Luo Mingyu, I want to ask you.” Ling Ruoxi gripped his wrist, teeth clenched. “Yimeng… is she different from ordinary people?”

Born with photographic memory and the ability to speak to animals, today confirmed it further. She had thought it childish play—but it wasn’t.

Luo Mingyu’s lips curled. He set the ginger soup before her. “Drink, then I’ll tell you.”

“I’ll drink!” She finished it in one gulp, setting the bowl down. She needed answers.

“Let the children sleep first. We’ll go to the other room and talk slowly. Come…”

“…!”

She sensed a plot brewing.

Leaning into Luo Mingyu, she clutched his clothes, her phoenix-like eyes fixed on him, desperate for answers.

“You’ve read many books. You should know what professions exist on this continent,” Luo Mingyu said softly, closing his eyes. “Among them is a profession called Beast Tamer.”

“Beast Tamer? I’ve heard they need extraordinary spiritual power to find and tame controlled magical beasts.” Ling Ruoxi frowned. “But Yimeng is so young. She’s only an Orange-tier Dou Qi user. How could she communicate with a dragon?”

“Fool. That’s just what the books say. There’s another kind of Beast Tamer.” Luo Mingyu’s lips curved as he placed a hand on her slim waist. “The Imperial Beast Tamer. The highest-tier Beast Tamer, able to communicate with magical beasts. To become one, you must surpass all other tamers, accumulating experience over time.”

“But Yimeng…”

“Yimeng is of a different kind. She is a natural Imperial Beast Tamer, born with the ability. She will one day command magical beasts and may even establish peace between beasts and humans. A person like her appears once in ten thousand years.” Luo Mingyu pressed her small head and chuckled. “Surprised?”

“Imperial… Beast Tamer.” Ling Ruoxi drew in a sharp breath. She hadn’t expected Yimeng to be born with such enviable abilities.

No wonder she often spoke to animals—she hadn’t realized it wasn’t just childish play.

Now, it was clear: she had been far too naive. An Imperial Beast Tamer… so that means…

“Yimeng’s identity being revealed might cause…”
