Crack—

The long whip swept across, and in that instant, more than a dozen figures ahead were blasted backward. Purple Dou Qi erupted as black silhouettes crisscrossed the field, giving their opponents no chance to react. The Moon-Slaying Dragon’s Chant was unleashed in their hands.

Blood splattered in streaks. A cold figure stood tall amid the crowd, slowly lifting his head to look at those ahead, a trace of disdain flashing through his eyes.

“Trash.”

“Pfft… Jiang Yu, don’t you think that’s a bit much? You wiped them all out in one go—now there’s no one left for us to play with…” Silver Wolf’s jaw nearly hit the ground. Every move Jiang Yu made was a killing strike; he never left anyone alive. That was exactly why he favored swift, decisive battles—he never bothered to toy with his enemies. Each burst of his power was terrifying. Even Silver Wolf didn’t dare fight this kid head-on.

A sharp glint flashed in Jiang Yu’s eyes as he sheathed the Moon-Slaying Dragon’s Chant. “What? You got a problem with that?”

“Well, no… but you were a bit too fast. At least leave us a few…” Silver Wolf drooped his head. There was nothing he could do about Jiang Yu. This kid—aside from showing off—seemed to have no other skills.

Yet strangely enough, the children of Linshui County adored him, constantly surrounding him. Whenever Silver Wolf went over, those kids would tease him and treat him like an easy target. Every time he wanted to lose his temper, he swallowed it down. He wasn’t like Jiang Yu—who once kicked a little girl on the butt. Even though he held back, she still fell flat on her face. And as a result… she became even more infatuated with that damn kid.

“It seems Baili Wushuang already knows our whereabouts. Now that we have the Purple Bamboo Divine Needle, we should head back to Duanyun Kingdom first and try using its power to treat your father. There’ll be plenty of ‘ants’ along the way. We’ll ride the Azure Luan and take the aerial route to avoid them as much as possible.” Yuwen Zhiyuan looked at the corpses on the ground and could only shake his head helplessly.

Success because of Purple Bamboo—failure because of Purple Bamboo. Perhaps that was why Ling Feng had dismantled the Purple Bamboo Divine Needle back then and sent it back to the place they once stayed.

The Purple Bamboo Divine Needle saved lives—and also killed. It saved many, but killed even more. Such a murderous artifact might never have been meant to appear on the continent at all. Whether it was right or wrong, he could no longer tell. What he saw now was far less than before.

No matter how fierce the conflicts among the Three Kingdoms once were, they now seemed insignificant. The invasion of external forces had forced the three great nations to join hands, ally with surrounding smaller states, and strengthen themselves. Dou Qi masters were dispatched throughout the lands as a precaution. All military forces were reorganized to prevent any outsider from invading. Even Duanyun Kingdom was steeped in tension.

Tapping the table with one hand, Nangong Mo frowned deeply. He had inherited the throne, yet troubles had arrived so quickly. The world was no longer about territorial disputes—Baili Wushuang’s forces could only be described as terrifying. There was simply no solution.

Although the Dou Qi Academies recruited many talented individuals in their name, even offering free training to children… still, no matter what, they couldn’t make up for the lack of military strength.

“Don’t overwork yourself.” Draping a long robe over Nangong Mo’s shoulders and tying it for him, Qian Yi frowned slightly. She subconsciously rested a hand on her already rounded belly, then coughed softly.

Pulled fully back to the present, Nangong Mo quickly drew her into his arms, placing his hand on her belly. “You’re already pregnant—don’t worry about these things. Get some rest. Leave everything to me. Look at you—the child’s almost due, and you’ve lost weight again lately.”

“Oh, stop it. I’m not as fragile as you say. Can’t I just choke on saliva once in a while?” Qian Yi pinched Nangong Mo’s ear and laughed softly, then turned her gaze forward. The smile faded slightly as she asked, “What about them? Any news?”

“No. Ever since they entered Linshui County, even Baili Wushuang’s people haven’t been able to find them. We…” Nangong Mo sighed. Linshui County was isolated from the world—how could it be easily found? Otherwise, the legendary forger Yin Liang wouldn’t have hidden there.

“Report—!”

Before Nangong Mo could continue, a guard rushed into the hall and knelt, clasping his fists. “Your Majesty, two Azure Luans have entered the imperial city from ten li away and are heading straight toward the Ancestor’s residence. Should we send people to intercept them?”

“Could it be Baili Wushuang? Such audacity—to openly launch a sneak attack…” Nangong Mo’s face darkened as he rose quickly. Then he gently looked at the woman before him, stroked her hair, and said softly, “Wait here. Don’t wander around. Take good care of the child.”

As he spoke, he pressed a light kiss to Qian Yi’s cheek.

Grabbing his sword, Nangong Mo turned and rushed outside.

In the sky, two Azure Luans swept over the imperial palace. The people standing atop them clearly didn’t put those below in their eyes at all—ignoring the countless guards in pursuit as they sped ahead.

“This is the first time in my life I’ve seen people this arrogant…” Nangong Mo’s mouth twitched. His golden figure pressed lightly against a stone pedestal, then leapt forward. Still, such arrogance wasn’t unheard of—one was Ling Ruoxi, the other Luo Mingyu…

But those two had vanished long ago. There was no way they could have returned to Duanyun Kingdom.

“Stop right there!”

A cold voice spread out as the man in dragon robes leapt into the air. The scabbard in his hand shot forward, and a fierce sword light slashed toward the Azure Luans like lightning.

He was fast—but the black figure was even faster.

Like a god of slaughter, the figure leapt down from the Azure Luan. The Dragon Chant Dagger spun in his hand as fierce purple Dou Qi slashed downward. His way of doing things was simple and clean.

So fast…

Nangong Mo’s heart sank. His pupils locked onto the incoming blade as he flipped away, his long sword bracing against the dagger. His palms went numb from the impact; the tremendous force nearly split his hands open.

Good heavens—how much strength was that?!

A sharp light flashed in Nangong Mo’s eyes as he stared ahead in shock. When he finally saw the figure clearly, his mouth twitched violently. The black-clad boy was no more than ten years old, yet he wielded such a heavy dagger with ease. His origins were unknown—could he also be one of Baili Wushuang’s people?

Just then, a childish voice rang out from above, arrogant and dismissive, clearly not taking those below seriously.

“Get lost.”

One simple, blunt word—yet it left everyone below flushed with anger. Was this kid blind? That golden dragon robe was the clearest proof of imperial status—and yet this brat dared tell their Emperor to “get lost.”

Unforgivable!

“Who are you, to dare trespass into Duanyun Kingdom? Are you tired of living?” Nangong Mo’s voice grew colder as his aura surged, pressing heavily toward the other side. He hadn’t expected that such a young child would also be a Purple Exalt.

Facing Nangong Mo’s imposing might, Jiang Yu merely snorted. He belonged neither to magical beasts nor to humans—such pressure was meaningless to him. A sharp glint flashed in his eyes. He turned the dagger in his hand, the corner of his mouth lifting. “So the legendary head of Duanyun Kingdom isn’t all that impressive—just a soft persimmon.”

Jiang Yu’s grip on the Moon-Slaying Dragon’s Chant tightened. The long sword ahead trembled as a fierce blade light erupted, slashing forward like lightning.

Nangong Mo inwardly cursed. His golden figure darted aside, the sharp light flaring in his eyes as he countered with a sword strike at Jiang Yu. This kid was far tougher than expected.

As he pondered, a surge of killing intent exploded behind him.

Not good!

Nangong Mo flicked his sword upward, blocking behind him—

Crack!

His movement froze mid-turn as his sword was knocked flying from his hand. His face changed drastically. Dropping his right hand, he struck forward with his palm.

Jiang Yu stared coldly at him. The Moon-Slaying Dragon’s Chant spun in his grasp as he thrust his power forward, his palm colliding head-on with Nangong Mo’s.

Boom!

Visible purple Dou Qi erupted, momentarily occupying the sky. The golden figure was hurled backward, his face turning frighteningly grim. Blood slowly trickled from the corner of his mouth. Unwilling, he wiped it away and stared intently at his opponent.

Yet the boy’s figure was nowhere to be seen in the sky.

“Your strength isn’t bad—not as weak as an ordinary Purple Exalt.”

A cold voice suddenly sounded.

Nangong Mo’s hair nearly stood on end. He stepped forward at once and turned, staring at the black figure behind him.

Casually sheathing the Moon-Slaying Dragon’s Chant at his waist, Jiang Yu crossed his arms, a sharp light flashing in his eyes. In a deep voice, he asked, “You’re Nangong Mo, right?”

“Who are you—and why are you here?” Nangong Mo frowned. It seemed this boy didn’t even know his identity; otherwise, he wouldn’t have dared barge into the Duanyun royal palace so recklessly.

Jiang Yu raised an eyebrow and casually waved his hand. Four artifact spirits appeared in midair at once. He looked ahead indifferently. “Brothers, I’ll leave it to you. Watch over Duanyun Kingdom’s imperial city. Afterward, you can have whatever you want.”

“Th-this…” Nangong Mo’s eyes nearly popped out. That single word brothers sent chills down his spine. Looking again at the four little dolls before him, their faces were terrifyingly familiar—especially Luo Mingyu’s.

What shocked him even more was that they could freely change their appearances. He even saw one of the little dolls shift into Ling Ruoxi’s face, then transform again into a blue-robed figure—clearly not taking him seriously at all.
