“Pa!”

Just as the white figure rushed forward, the Earth-Spike Dragon suddenly twisted its body. Its massive tail lashed out violently, smashing straight into Jiang Hao’s chest.

One could even see Jiang Hao’s chest bones cave inward. Hidden in the bushes, Ling Ruoxi sucked in a sharp breath of cold air. That power was terrifying—she herself wouldn’t be able to withstand it. Who would have thought that arrogant fool would actually charge headfirst into such a deadly weapon!

“Big brother!” Jiang Ling roared in a low voice. He quickly caught the white figure, and seeing that Jiang Hao was still breathing, he immediately poured his own Dou Qi into Jiang Hao’s body.

“Miss, I’m begging you—can you take my big brother, and the other ten brothers, and get out of here?” Holding Jiang Hao, the man stood up quickly, his gaze firm as he looked ahead.

The other ten, however, were even more confused. They stared coldly at the man above.
“Jiang Ling, what nonsense are you talking about? Isn’t that woman your lover? What ability does she have to leave this place? We should join forces and—”

“Pa!”

His voice exposed their position. A merciless claw came down, tearing open that man’s abdomen. Fortunately, he had sensed the danger in advance and blocked in front of himself with a flying sword, using the force to fling himself away. Even so, the wound on his stomach looked horrifying.

“Tenth Brother!” Jiang Ling’s voice sank. Holding Jiang Hao, he quickly dodged to the side.

The sudden tail strike slammed down. He was in a sorry state, dodging frantically, yet the Earth-Spike Dragon ahead seemed to have locked onto him. The moment he burst out of the forest, its enormous head lunged toward him, jaws snapping.

His pupils shrank abruptly. Jiang Ling shut his eyes tightly—an instinctive reaction of a human facing death.

“Jiang Ling!”

“Twelfth Brother!”

Voices came from all directions at once, yet he felt no pain at all.

Drops of scorching liquid fell onto his face. Jiang Ling couldn’t help but open his eyes. His contracted pupils suddenly dilated as he stared blankly at the woman before him.

Her inky black hair fluttered in the air, carrying a faint, lingering fragrance. She stood coldly in front of him, her Thunderbolt Spear braced horizontally in the Earth-Spike Dragon’s mouth, preventing it from closing its jaws.

Her hands had forcibly snapped its sharp teeth, yet on the other side, a tusk had pierced deeply into her right shoulder. Hot, fresh blood flowed freely, almost dyeing her entirely red.

And yet she stood there, calm and aloof. A sharp glint flashed through her black eyes. “Why haven’t you gotten lost yet?”

“Y-you…” Jiang Ling was completely stunned, staring at her in shock and swallowing hard. If the Earth-Spike Dragon had moved even a little farther forward, its razor-sharp teeth would have torn straight through his brother’s chest.

She had actually ended up like this… just to save them!

Hastily lifting Jiang Hao, Jiang Ling didn’t even have time to thank her before sprinting away toward the rear.

The woman left behind merely let her expression darken. Her face was deathly pale, looking weak and pitiful. Her right arm could no longer exert any strength—the tusk embedded in her body was extremely heavy, already destroying her vitality. Even with Dou Qi repairing her body, the process was far too slow.

She gripped the tusk with her left hand. The broken tooth cut open her palm, and she looked like a pitiful child abandoned in this forest.

The corner of her lips curved upward slightly. Ling Ruoxi pressed down on the Thunderbolt Spear, then suddenly lifted with her left hand. The Earth-Spike Dragon let out a furious roar, rearing its head and shaking violently.

She was like a tiny leaf, helplessly lifted into the air. As the Earth-Spike Dragon thrashed about, her body was flung away as well. Purple Dou Qi enveloped the Thunderbolt Spear as she coldly stared ahead.

“Thunderbolt… Primordial— pff!”

The Dou Qi she had just gathered instantly dissipated. Her eyes grew unfocused, her consciousness fading. She watched as her body was hurled backward, blood spraying into the air in an arc and splattering onto the leaves.

“Idiot…”

There was no expected sound of hitting the ground—no cold earth, no piercing pain. Instead, a cool stream of Dou Qi coursed through her body, familiar and warm.

Slowly opening her eyes, Ling Ruoxi paused slightly, not surprised at all. She raised her hand weakly and touched the slightly sweaty forehead before her. She wanted to speak, but a surge of heat rushed up, and blood dripped from the corner of her mouth.

“Don’t talk. Who told you to come here? Do you have a death wish?” A hand reached out indulgently and rested on her small head. The man standing there smiled faintly—a smile meant for her alone.

Shaking her head, Ling Ruoxi slowly closed her eyes and leaned against his chest. Breathing in that familiar scent, feeling his familiar warmth beside her—this was already enough.

“T-this is…” The others were all stunned, looking up at the white-robed man standing in the air. They frowned slightly. Since when had Duanyun Kingdom gained so many powerful figures?

Before they could discuss further, the man above had already withdrawn his gentle gaze. His eyes, now devoid of emotion, coldly fixed on the Earth-Spike Dragon.

A sharp glint flashed through his eyes. With his left arm holding the beauty in his embrace, his right hand beckoned. A black scythe appeared instantly, deathly aura spreading out and making the entire space heavy and oppressive.

“You deserve to die.”

Red light flared within his black eyes. Holding the Blood Demon Scythe in one hand, he casually slashed forward.

“Zi—!”

The bulky Earth-Spike Dragon charged forward, but before it could run even five hundred meters, fierce black killing qi howled forth and slammed into its head.

It was as if something exploded. The Earth-Spike Dragon’s body shuddered violently, black energy wrapping tightly around it before tearing it apart from within.

“Boom!”

Like a rain of blood, the massive Earth-Spike Dragon exploded into countless fragments. A golden bead, however, landed steadily in Luo Mingyu’s hand.

He closed his hand, retracting the Blood Demon Scythe, not even deigning to glance at what lay behind him. His figure flickered and vanished.

Those watching felt as though their hearts had skipped a beat. They stood there numbly, letting the disgusting flesh and blood rain down on them, staring blankly at the mountains above.

A divine beast—and that man had casually killed it with a single slash! Even a Purple Sovereign couldn’t achieve such a feat. Who in the world was that man?

“Who… is that woman?” one man asked in a low voice, his mouth dry. They had seen it clearly—her Dou Qi was purple!

That woman was a Purple Sovereign. Yet her qi couldn’t fully condense—she definitely wasn’t a true Purple Sovereign. As for the man who suddenly appeared, the night was too dark for them to see clearly. But his strength… was terrifying.

“Swoosh!”

A black figure suddenly landed. The man at the front strode forward. When he saw the shattered flesh on the ground and the twelve men nearby, he said coldly, “Look at the foolish thing you’ve done!”

“My lord!” All twelve dropped to their knees, not daring to even breathe.

Lie Yun stared at them coldly, his hands already clenched tight enough to crack. “Do you know who that woman is? And you still dared let her participate in the Trial of the Gods—are you all tired of living?”

“My lord, we truly didn’t know. And she entered disguised as a man,” Jiang Hao said weakly, coughing. He was badly injured and could only barely hold on with Jiang Ling’s Dou Qi supporting him.

A sharp light flashed through Lie Yun’s cold eyes. “Indeed, she entered in male attire. I don’t know whether our plan has attracted their attention, but remember this: at the Supreme Emperor’s birthday celebration, present the dragon egg and leave immediately—do nothing more!”

“My lord, this dragon egg was obtained with great difficulty. To nurture it, you spared no cost, even sending it into the Earth-Spike Dragon’s lair so it could absorb spiritual energy. Now you want to give it to the Supreme Emperor—this subordinate believes it is absolutely unacceptable!” Thinking of what they had gone through for that dragon egg, they could only swallow their resentment.

Lie Yun, however, let out a low laugh. “Do you think matters are that simple? I’ll tell you—that woman was once the fiancée of the current Supreme Emperor’s direct great-grandson. And now, she is the wife of the Evil King. The man who appeared just now was the Evil King himself! How many heads do you think you have to dare oppose them? Don’t forget—Qiongyu Immortal Island has already announced their identities. Evil King Luo Mingyu is the island’s son-in-law, and that woman is the Saintess…”

What?!

The few men standing there were completely stunned. No matter how they guessed, they could never have imagined that, so close to the Sacred Day, they would actually run into them!

The Evil King and the Saintess—both arriving together?!

Pain…

It felt as if her entire body were being torn apart. Intense pain surged through her. The person on the bed let out a soft groan, her long lashes trembling as she slowly opened her eyes.

The unfamiliar surroundings made her freeze. Dragon- and phoenix-carved pillars gleamed brilliantly. The building rose five meters high. Candles were placed ahead, flowers arranged all around. A massive bookshelf was filled with volumes, and a Hundred Birds Paying Homage to the Phoenix painting hung vividly on the wall.

“This is… where?” Recalling the final scene, Ling Ruoxi shuddered. Luo Mingyu had come! Wasn’t he supposed to be in the palace? How had he suddenly appeared there?

“You’re awake? Get up and drink the medicine. Your injuries are far too severe—almost all your internal organs were damaged and displaced, and your meridians were severed. If not for the Dou Qi protecting you and the good medicine, you’d still be unconscious for several more days,” a voice said with a faint smile.

A purple figure slowly walked into the room. More than ten maids followed him inside, all bowing slightly to Ling Ruoxi.

“Nangong Mo? It’s you? Where is this? Where’s Luo Mingyu?” Rubbing her temples, Ling Ruoxi shook her head.
