FRGNM -Chapter 201 The Divine Beast’s Fury

“Mom—wait for me! I can’t run anymore!”

Those eight figures were in a sorry state as they appeared on the mountaintop, desperately sprinting downhill. They relied on Dou Qi and rarely trained their bodies, so once they started running, their faces turned purplish-blue from strain. They dared not use Dou Qi—if the divine beast sensed it, one breath of flame would be enough to end them. No matter how many lives they had, it wouldn’t be enough.

“Jiang Ling, quick—save us!” Seeing the figure racing toward them from ahead, Number Three felt a surge of joy and hurriedly waved and shouted.

But he was fast—yet that black-clad figure was faster. With a lift of the hand and a fall of the sword, a head rolled aside like a watermelon. Those around him recoiled in terror, not daring to meet the sharpness of his gaze.

“You… what are you doing?!” Seeing Number Three’s head severed, the rest panicked. After all, they were Green-ranked Dou Qi practitioners, while that brat before them was only Blue-ranked. Even with a gap in strength, it shouldn’t have been so overwhelming that they couldn’t even fight back!

A flash of viciousness appeared in his eyes. The man gripping the long sword stepped forward slowly. Under the moonlight, his figure looked even more slender and tall. The sword tip pointed at the ground, his aura like pure killing intent—dangerous to the extreme.

“Who told you to go over there? Who told you to bring this ancestor out!”

“T-this… wasn’t it what you said? We came in the name of the gods to obtain the divine beast’s inner core. But we didn’t find the core—we found…” Just as Number Two raised his arm, before he could finish his sentence, the cold man waved his hand. Blue Dou Qi slashed forward, splitting the man cleanly in two.

And that demon beast egg landed steadily in his hand.

Purple Sovereign!

At once, everyone’s faces grew even uglier. They huddled together, knowing that a single wrong word would mean death at this man’s hands.

A Purple Sovereign—no wonder his strength was so terrifying. With a mere wave, he could sever their brother’s arm.

Taking a sharp breath, the fat man bit his lip hard and said coldly, “Jiang Ling, what are you doing? Didn’t we agree that after getting out, we’d divide the official positions evenly? Isn’t it a bit early to make a move now?”

“An idiot will always be an idiot. You think the likes of you could sit in those positions? You’re nothing but nourishment for the divine beast. Asking so many questions—courting death.”

Blue Dou Qi surged forth. Like lightning, his figure streaked through the air. Several flashes of blue light passed by, and the eight figures fell to the ground at the same time—each killed with a single sword strike.

Seeing this scene, Ling Ruoxi clenched her fists. She was still too late. They were all dead—without even a trace of breath. It must have been…

Reaching down, Jiang Ling grabbed a corpse from the ground. Blue Dou Qi flared, and with a toss of his hand, the blue light shot toward the sky—straight at the rampaging Earth-Spike Dragon.

“Boom!”

Yet what surprised Ling Ruoxi was that the Earth-Spike Dragon completely ignored the flying “food.” It suddenly opened its mouth and spewed a torrent of flame, burning the corpse to ashes in an instant.

At the same time, Jiang Ling’s expression grew even grimmer. Blue Dou Qi cut through the air as he picked up the remaining seven corpses and hurled them forward together. But without exception, every one of them was incinerated by the Earth-Spike Dragon.

“The divine beast is enraged! This is all because of you—distracting me and causing such a huge mess!” Roaring, Jiang Ling’s gaze turned even more terrifying. He suddenly raised his sword, and a streak of blue Dou Qi tore through the air, shooting straight for Ling Ruoxi’s neck.

Her face darkened. Ling Ruoxi dodged swiftly, retreating using the Eight Trigrams Footwork. But she saw the divine beast advancing toward them, its eyes fixed on the egg.

“Quick—return the egg! They took the Earth-Spike Dragon’s egg!”

“That’s not its egg at all—it’s something we placed inside to nurture! We finally sealed the Earth-Spike Dragon here, but never expected these people to barge in, break the formation, and release it. You won’t be leaving alive either!”

With a furious roar, the man flipped his wrist. Blue Dou Qi unfurled like a painted scroll—beautiful to the extreme.

But Ling Ruoxi had no mood to admire it. Her waist bent at an unbelievable angle. With a lift of her right hand, sparks erupted along her sword.

“Whoosh!”

She flashed away, yet her cheek was still sliced open by the man. Holding a cluster of fine silver needles in her hand, Jiang Ling’s expression grew even darker. As if recalling something, his black-clad figure spun through the air before landing. He pressed one hand to the ground, not even having time to wipe the blood from his face.

Silver needles?

The opponent had actually chosen silver needles as weapons? Such a low-damage weapon—and yet it could block his blade and even pierce his skin!

“Who… exactly are you?” Jiang Ling’s voice turned ice-cold. With a sweep of his left hand, a bolt of lightning shot into the sky, bursting into a dazzling firework.

Ling Ruoxi ignored him and instead looked toward the Earth-Spike Dragon. Her expression was extremely solemn. Earth-Spike Dragons were naturally defense- and strength-type beasts! If this one rampaged out, it might well destroy the entire imperial city.

A sharp glint flashed in her eyes as Ling Ruoxi shouted coldly, “Shut up! You’ve caused a huge disaster! Tell me—why are you raising this egg? The so-called gods are nothing but your lies! You lured those Dou Qi practitioners here only to send them to their deaths!”

“So what if you know? The divine beast has been released now. The people helping me will arrive soon—do you really think you can defeat me?” Jiang Ling raised an eyebrow, arrogance seeping into his tone.

But the person standing there clenched her hands tightly. “Xiao Bai, what weaknesses does this beast have?”

“It has many. For example, it’s slow, not agile, and knows only blind rage—it has no brain at all.”
A low laugh echoed around them.

Jiang Ling’s expression changed drastically. He hadn’t sensed anyone nearby at all!

Ling Ruoxi, however, remained calm. “Is there a way to deal with it?”

“Of course. Killing a divine beast isn’t that hard for you. That thing may be a divine beast, but it doesn’t have half a brain. I don’t know why these people raised it here—truly disgusting.”

A pale hand appeared out of thin air, like a block of ice, gently resting on Jiang Ling’s shoulder.

The man, invaded by freezing cold, turned pale. He swung his right hand forward, slashing instinctively.

But that white figure landed steadily beside Ling Ruoxi. With a curl of his fingers, he toyed with her long hair.

“I say, can’t you behave for a while? You just arrived in the imperial city and already stirred up such a mess. And… you’ve really caused big trouble. Someone in the court is probably going to come after you.”

“Oh?” Ling Ruoxi drew out the sound, her brows lifting slightly.

Silver Wolf knew quite a lot. With a flick of his slender finger, he pointed at Jiang Ling. “He’s one of the Twelve Guardians under General Lieyun—Jiang Ling, a Purple Sovereign. I never expected him to do something so despicable.”

“Shut up!” Jiang Ling’s face darkened as he stared at the man in silver-white robes with snow-white hair. He knew very well that human hair was naturally black—this man was clearly a beast in human form.

This was a true physical body, not an illusion. That meant this man was at least a Saint Beast-level existence.

Drawing in a sharp breath, Jiang Ling never imagined that the last one to arrive—the man who looked so weak—had actually contracted a Saint Beast!

Divine beasts were already extremely rare—let alone one like this!

A sharp light burst from his dark pupils as the surrounding rumbling grew louder. Silver Wolf merely raised an eyebrow.

“So noisy.”

In the next instant, his slender figure became a silver-white streak of lightning. With a loud bang, he kicked the massive figure away.

The sight was terrifying. High in the air, Silver Wolf was no larger than a finger, yet he sent the divine beast flying, smashing it into the mountainside. What horrifying power!

Ling Ruoxi’s heart trembled. She only lowered her gaze slightly and beckoned with her right hand. The silver-white figure vanished from the sky.

Of course she knew—Xiao Bai’s body was weak now. He had come out only to intimidate those before them and scare off the howling Earth-Spike Dragon.

“Y-you…”

Jiang Ling’s jaw nearly hit the ground, his eyes bulging. The Earth-Spike Dragon was thick-skinned and incredibly tough. After advancing to a divine beast, even a Purple Sovereign couldn’t break its defenses. But now…

“I’ll deal with you later. This little dragon seems rather angry.”

A smile curved her lips as the black-clad figure stepped forward. The silver needles vanished from her hand, replaced by a blazing red spear!

With the Thunderbolt Spear in hand, a kingly aura burst forth. The youth leapt forward, purple Dou Qi surging instantly, pouring into the spear like a roaring dragon.

“P-Purple Sovereign…”

Jiang Ling’s legs went weak; he nearly collapsed to the ground, staring in horror. How was this possible? The person before him was actually a Purple Sovereign!

And what followed drove him even closer to madness.

The Earth-Spike Dragon, kicked away by Silver Wolf, roared and struggled to its feet. Its blade-like eyes locked onto Ling Ruoxi. But the woman in the air merely sneered. An invisible pressure spread instantly, pressing back against the beast.

“Roar!”

The majesty of a Purple Sovereign only fueled the Earth-Spike Dragon’s fury. Its bloated body rolled across the rocky ground, and its enormous tail swept out, smashing fiercely toward the figure in the air.

It was fast—but Ling Ruoxi was faster.

Wind gathered beneath her feet. Like a gentle breeze, her body retreated to the side. A fierce gale swept past, her hair flying as her pupils shrank sharply.

So strong!

She had thought it would be enough simply to avoid its attacks. Yet the wind pressure alone tore through space, crashing straight toward her head.
