FRGNM -Chapter 18 Silver Needles Acupuncture

The First-Rank Good-for-Nothing Mother 5 min read 18 of 242 14

Ignoring all the negative emotions around her, Ling Ruoxi’s eyes lit up the moment she saw the man lying on the bed. Nangong Mo’s upper garment had already been undone, his abdomen wrapped in bandages, which outlined the eight-pack abs forged through long-term training. His chest muscles were firm but not exaggerated, and those two cherry-red points—paired with that bewitchingly handsome face—made it impossible for Ling Ruoxi to restrain herself.

“Wow, this man is simply a demon! This figure, this build, this feel—tsk, tsk. If he became a male concubine, he’d definitely be top-tier material!”

Seeing her pounce forward and start squeezing Nangong Mo all over, and hearing her call him a “male concubine,” Ye Ningfeng nearly failed to hold his breath and almost spat it out.

If Nangong Mo were conscious, he’d probably go berserk upon hearing that.

The medical physician at the side could no longer sit still and hurriedly scolded, “Where did this little girl come from? Stop at once! His Highness is injured—keep quiet and wait for—”

“Wait for what? Medical physician…” Ling Ruoxi glanced at him. “I’ve also learned a bit of medicine recently. You added an extra dose of cassia seeds to this herbal mix and combined it with high-grade Qinghua Dew—not bad. But you seem to have forgotten something. His Highness’s persistent fever is caused by infection in the wound. If you want to reduce the fever, you must first deal with the infected wound.”

She shot the muddleheaded old man a glare, sat down on the bed, and took a few more liberties with Nangong Mo.

Fang Xu’s jaw nearly hit the floor. This was the first time he’d ever seen such a bold woman—wasn’t she supposed to scream and avert her eyes upon seeing a man’s naked body?

The medical physician, meanwhile, was rendered speechless by Ling Ruoxi’s pointed remarks. He put down the herbs in his hands and stormed out of the room.

“Honestly… Fang Xu, do you have any silver needles?” Ling Ruoxi rubbed her temples. Although many things in this world were indeed strange, right now… it seemed she could only rely on her own most direct and practical methods.

“W-what for? Don’t tell me you want to assassinate the Crown Prince with silver needles?” Fang Xu shuddered all over, shaking his head like a rattle drum.

Silver-needle acupuncture—didn’t people here know about it? Ling Ruoxi grabbed her hair and searched the room for a long time, finally finding a dozen or so embroidery needles. Unfortunately, they were of different lengths and thicknesses. With needles like these, one stab and Nangong Mo would surely be sent straight to the underworld.

“Hey, old physician, do you have silver needles?” Seeing the furious old man return, Ling Ruoxi immediately ran over.

Blowing his beard and glaring at her, the old physician stroked his beard and said, “Yes. I won’t give them to you.”

“Come on, at a time like this you’re still acting like a stubborn old child. Give me ten silver needles. I know you medical physicians carry them with you to test for poison. Hurry, give them to me.” She reached straight into his medicine chest.

Her rough actions made both Ye Ningfeng and Fang Xu break out in cold sweat. They immediately took a few steps back from Ling Ruoxi.

Pulling out more than ten silver needles, Ling Ruoxi weighed them in her hand—good enough. Looking at the old physician she had knocked to the ground earlier, she rubbed her nose and said, “Sorry about that, just borrowing them. I’ll return them in a bit…”

“You bandit!” the old physician wailed. This was the first time he’d ever encountered something like this!

And the culprit actually turned around, put a finger to her lips, and smiled lightly. “Shh. The patient needs quiet.”

Quiet my ass! Who was the one being so violent and snatching things just now?!

Raising a silver needle, Ling Ruoxi focused on the man before her. She placed her hand on Nangong Mo’s pulse. In traditional medicine, diagnosis required observation, listening, questioning, and pulse-taking—but questioning him now was obviously impossible.

With a flick of her hand, a flash of silver light pierced Nangong Mo’s chest, sinking three inches deep. Immediately after, she picked up another needle and brought it down.

Her movements were so skilled it was as if she were flipping skewers of meat over a grill.

Watching the needles go in, Fang Xu’s entire body trembled. Turning his head toward Ye Ningfeng, he whispered, “He won’t be stabbed to death, will he? What is Ruoxi doing?”

“No idea. It looks like embroidery…” Ye Ningfeng’s mouth twitched. Silver needles were usually used only to test for poison, yet she was using them to pierce flesh—this was truly a first.

“Swish!” The final silver needle fell into place. Ling Ruoxi pressed a finger on Nangong Mo’s vital point and gave a sharp jolt. She had spent five years mastering this set of acupuncture techniques. Using qi to circulate energy for treatment consumed enormous mental and physical strength. After placing all the needles, she was almost completely drained. She took several deep breaths before steadying herself.

Her clothes were already soaked through with sweat, but Ling Ruoxi didn’t care. She reached out, supported Nangong Mo, and lightly struck his back.

The sleeping man suddenly shuddered, then spat out a mouthful of blood. The foul-smelling blood splashed all over her clothes, soaking her.

“So smelly…” Covering her nose, Ling Ruoxi carefully laid Nangong Mo back down. Holding her breath, she ran outside and shouted once, then hurried back in. “What on earth did he eat last night? This smell…”

“He was poisoned.” The old physician frowned, his eyes gleaming. He had never been able to determine where the poison was hidden within Nangong Mo’s body—yet this little girl had discovered it.
