“Then why are you still standing here so openly?” Luo Mingyu’s lips curved in a faint smile as he looked at Qingyi.

Ling Ruoxi, still trying to process what was happening, suddenly felt her collar tugged—this shameless man had grabbed her clothes.

“Run! Old Ghost, your teleportation array, take us to the Duanyun Kingdom border, quickly!” Luo Mingyu shouted, hastily closing the door and activating a formation across the room. He watched as the man who had moved the table activated a sudden golden light. Luo Mingyu grabbed Ling Ruoxi’s wrist, holding onto Qingyi, and headed straight for the teleportation array.

Crash! The door was smashed open, golden light flashing— the teleportation array was activated. At least an hour would be needed before it could be used again.

“Hmph, you think you can run? This array leads directly to the forest outside the Duanyun Kingdom border. Our men are already waiting there. Luo Mingyu, let’s see where you can go!”

Caw… caw… Birds flew lazily in the sky. A blue phoenix glided slowly toward the Duanyun border.

The people riding the phoenix frowned. One asked coldly, “How is Grandfather’s condition?”

“Your Highness… should be addressed as Emperor Grandfather…” Ye Ningfeng said with a faint smile, about to explain, but instinctively looked upward.

Ahhh! A scream tore through the air. Something fell straight at Ye Ningfeng, giving him no time to react. The blue phoenix above shuddered violently. The two people on its back plummeted downward.

“Your Highness!” Other riders’ faces changed drastically as they quickly changed direction toward the falling figures.

What in heaven’s name was happening? Someone had actually attacked the emperor’s grandson right before they entered Duanyun Kingdom!

Crash! They hit the ground hard, creating a deep crater, dust swirling. Ye Ningfeng and Nangong Mo barely managed to crawl out.

What had just happened? What was that flying object, and why did it attack all of a sudden?

“Cough… cough… Luo Mingyu, get off—my waist…”

“Old Ghost, you hit the wrong spot, my little—”

“Move your foot, you’re stepping on my face!”

Familiar yet strange voices rang out. As the dust cleared, Nangong Mo and Ye Ningfeng finally saw the scene clearly.

The blue phoenix that had been their mount had perished from the crash. The three people inside were coughing and struggling out.

If they looked embarrassed before, now all five of them were a complete mess—covered in mud, most of their clothing accessories lost, scattered somewhere unknown.

“Eh, Nangong Mo, what are you doing here?” Ling Ruoxi dusted herself off, staring wide-eyed at the person sitting before her.

What had just happened? Had she somehow been transported again? And the teleportation array—they really arrived in Duanyun Kingdom just like that?

She quickly stood and looked toward the city wall. Two bold characters “Duanyun” were inscribed, confirming they were already within Duanyun’s territory. Crossing this border town would mean they had officially entered the kingdom.

The forces of Beining Kingdom could no longer interfere. Even Qiongyu Immortal Island would need to tread carefully.

“Ling Ruoxi, what are you doing?” Nangong Mo was stunned. He had thought this trip might mean never seeing her again. Unexpectedly, before even entering Duanyun Kingdom, fate had placed her at his side—along with two more men.

Luo Mingyu lifted Qingyi, and the two of them emerged from the crater, facing Nangong Mo and Ye Ningfeng. Just moments ago, they had been discussing this man, and now they had met him unexpectedly.

“I don’t know… just this moment…” Ling Ruoxi sensed a murderous aura. Those yet to arrive had already leaked their intent. As a trained assassin, she immediately scanned behind them—were more enemies coming?

Luo Mingyu and Qingyi sensed the threat. “Ruoxi, come here. We need to cross the border now.”

“Miss Ruoxi, come first,” Qingyi added.

The dozens of blue phoenixes in the sky paused, separating from the forces behind them. The guards jumped down, eyes sharp, watching the attackers who had descended and struck their Highness.

Nangong Mo also noticed: the assassins emerging from the forest—were they targeting these three people?

“Stop! They are my friends,” Nangong Mo said quietly, parting the crowd, facing the standing assassins. “Who are you?”

Seeing more assassins behind, the guards braced themselves. Their mission: protect the people before them.

Ye Ningfeng stepped forward. “These are the Emperor of Duanyun Kingdom’s grandson, His Highness Nangong Mo. Please cooperate.”

The attackers frowned. The emperor’s grandson? Their luck was unbelievable—here they were, waiting for Luo Mingyu, and suddenly an imperial grandson falls from the sky.

Ridiculous as it was, how could they believe it?

“Move aside. We only want Luo Mingyu, Ling Ruoxi, and that man. The Qiongyu Island Master’s orders: take them by any means.” The leader of the black-clad men said coldly. Since the other side flaunted Duanyun’s royal authority, they countered with the authority of Qiongyu Island. Let’s see which side has the upper hand.

Even if Duanyun Kingdom was powerful, they couldn’t openly block them. A royal grandson? What’s the big deal?

“By my life, Nangong Mo, they are my friends. If you dare take them, I will destroy your Qiongyu Island!” Nangong Mo stepped forward, brandishing a golden plaque.

Golden light shimmered from the plaque. The dragon etched upon it seemed alive, radiating sacred authority. Even Luo Mingyu frowned—merely a crafted plaque emanated such aura. How strong was this man?!

“Great-grandson, since you’re here, why not return to the palace?” A deep voice echoed from a thousand miles away.

Cold and indifferent, the sound was so overwhelming it seemed to deafen everyone for a moment.

The old figure—hidden in Duanyun Kingdom!

All assassins felt their hearts tighten. They could see him but could not give orders to capture. With a snort, they withdrew.

“Remember, bring your friends to the palace as guests. I await you.”

As the words faded, the oppressive gravity vanished. Ling Ruoxi realized her clothes were drenched in sweat. If even a thousand miles away the telepathic voice was this powerful, how strong would it be up close?

She inhaled sharply and turned to Nangong Mo. “Hey, you’re the Crown Prince of Beining, right? How are you now the emperor’s grandson of Duanyun? What’s going on?”

“Miss Ruoxi, I’ll explain slowly. But for now, you should enter the city first and freshen up.” Ye Ningfeng smiled faintly, blocking Ling Ruoxi and placing a hand on Nangong Mo’s shoulder, shaking his head slightly.

Unexpectedly, they had used Nangong Mo’s authority to escape successfully. This made Luo Mingyu even more frustrated. With so many eyes watching, he couldn’t casually bathe with Ling Ruoxi. The first to finish would wait in the hall.

Strange… what had happened? Ling Ruoxi tapped her head, unable to recall anything. She only remembered playing with Da Huang, suddenly fainting, waking up under pursuit, and arriving here in a flash.

More puzzling: Nangong Mo was the emperor’s grandson of Duanyun! This boy had always held such a flashy status.

Luckily she hadn’t married him—or she’d have been Duanyun Kingdom’s laughingstock.

When Ling Ruoxi left the room, she realized how tense the atmosphere was. The few people in the hall barely spoke, staring coldly at each other. Nangong Mo and Luo Mingyu’s eyes practically sparkled.

Qingyi, however, remained loyal, closing his eyes, pretending to be blind. Having rehearsed this act countless times, he could still sense everything around him and reached for his teacup.

Those eyes? Ye Ningfeng’s mouth twitched. Just now fine, now blind? Was the bath so strong it could blind someone in three seconds?

“Ruoxi, what happened? Who were those people just now?” Ye Ningfeng asked, breaking the awkwardness.

Ling Ruoxi tugged at her hair, helpless. “I don’t know exactly, but Luo Mingyu chopped off another Qiongyu Island young master’s arm. The people chasing him now are all assassins hired by Qiongyu Island.”

“Your Highness, take a look at this.” Ye Ningfeng handed over a scroll and letter simultaneously.

He had known about the message since its release, only withholding it from Nangong Mo. He feared the man would return unexpectedly. Originally, they planned to enter Duanyun directly, but this sudden incident occurred. It wasn’t too late to show it now.

Scanning quickly, Nangong Mo unrolled the scroll. The two depicted were Ling Ruoxi and Luo Mingyu, in full color. Their expressions perfectly captured—a unique smile on one, cold elegance on the other—memorable at first glance.
