The stone-paved road of Broken Tile Alley was uneven and worn down by time.
Feng Zexuan walked at the front, her pace calm and unhurried.
Behind her, however, trailed an ever-growing procession of people, like a giant greedy snake silently winding through the alley after being startled awake.
The innkeeper, guests, curious peddlers, and idle townsfolk who had rushed over upon hearing the news—dozens of people packed the narrow alley until it was completely jammed.
A tense excitement spread quietly through the crowd, the kind that came right before witnessing a spectacular drama unfold.
The old man and old woman were surrounded by the crowd at the very front, their steps unsteady, as if they were walking on cotton.
Half of their hearts trembled with fear of the truth they were about to face.
The other half still desperately clung to the hope that it was all just a misunderstanding.
“T-that house up ahead…”
The old woman raised a thin, withered hand and pointed toward a shabby little home with peeling courtyard walls.
Most of the mud plaster on the wall had already fallen away, exposing the brown rammed earth underneath. Several roof tiles were missing as well.
Anyone could tell at a glance that this family’s “pillar of support” had been absent for a very long time.
【System, are you sure that weirdo’s at home?】
【Don’t tell me he already went out strutting around town in his pink battle outfit.】
The system replied confidently:
【Relax, Host! He’s inside preening in front of a bronze mirror and admiring himself!】
【My god! The image is too horrifying for me to imagine!】
Suppressing her laughter, Feng Zexuan turned back to the elderly couple and said softly:
“Come on. Let’s go take a look at your ‘paralyzed’ son.”
The old man’s trembling hand pushed open the creaking courtyard gate.
The yard was small. In one corner sat a little vegetable patch where radishes and cabbages grew beautifully—obviously the result of the old couple’s careful tending over the years.
Feng Zexuan turned around and raised a slender finger to her lips toward the crowd peeking curiously behind her.
“Shhh—”
“Don’t scare the ‘patient’ inside.”
The crowd instantly understood.
Everyone tiptoed and held their breath, looking so sneaky that anyone unaware would think they were a gang of chicken thieves.
The elderly couple led Feng Zexuan to the east-facing room with the best sunlight.
Together, the three of them pressed their eyes against the crack in the door.
Meanwhile, the others stacked themselves around the windows like human ladders, all fighting for the best spying positions.
After only one glance, gasps erupted from every crack and window.
In the center of the room stood a burly man whose arms were thicker than an ordinary woman’s waist.
And on his body was—
A pink ruqun dress stretched so tightly over his muscles that it looked ready to split apart at any second.
The man was awkwardly twirling in front of a blurry bronze mirror, apparently admiring his own “graceful” figure.
A gaudy beaded flower sat crookedly atop his head. His cheeks were painted with blush as red as monkey buttocks. He even pinched his fingers delicately and practiced what he thought was an elegant feminine walk.
【System, isn’t this the perfect moment for a performance of Dancing Diva?】
The system instantly played along and began singing in her mind:
【Spin~ jump~ with my eyes closed~】
【Can’t see the chaos~ are you intoxicated yet~】
【Layer by layer, layer by layer~ you surround me~】
【Oh my god, stop singing already! My eyes are burning!】
Feng Zexuan hurriedly slammed the mental pause button.
Inside the room, Tie Zhu pinched his throat and let out a horrifying falsetto.
“This outfit is absolutely perfect today! I’ll charm that old bachelor Butcher Wang from the next street to death!”
“BANG!”
One of the inn guests leaning against the door got too excited and slipped—
His whole body slammed straight into the door with a dull crash.
The sound instantly alerted the “Pink Dancing Diva” inside.
Tie Zhu whipped around.
He saw the huge crowd gathered at the entrance.
And at the very front—
His parents, who were supposed to be working in town!
“AHHHHH—!”
Tie Zhu screamed in terror, his shrill voice nearly lifting the roof tiles clean off the house.
“Dad! Mom!”
His soul practically flew out of his body!
The air fell silent for three whole seconds.
Truly worthy of being a veteran actor who had pretended to be disabled for ten years—after his brain crashed momentarily, Tie Zhu rebooted at lightning speed.
He viciously wiped his eyes, and in the next instant, tears the size of beans rolled dramatically from his sockets.
His acting skills were absolutely explosive.
“Dad! Mom! I-I’m cured!”
“My legs can move! I can stand again!”
He wailed while lunging toward the old couple.
【HAHAHAHA! That reaction speed! That ability to cry on command! Someone owes him an Oscar trophy!】
Looking at their biological son standing before them—
Dressed in women’s clothing and acting even more coquettishly than an actual woman—
The old woman felt the world spin around her.
Her vision darkened, and she nearly collapsed on the spot if not for the old man desperately supporting her.
The old man trembled with rage, pointing at Tie Zhu with shaking fingers, his lips quivering too hard to form a complete sentence.
“Y-you… you… what are you doing?!”
Tie Zhu rushed toward his parents, only to catch the sour stench of sweat lingering on them.
He subconsciously frowned and discreetly stepped back half a pace.
Then, noticing the large crowd outside pointing and whispering, his frown deepened further.
“W-what’s going on? Dad, Mom, why did you bring outsiders into the house?”
Feng Zexuan leisurely stepped forward, shielding the elderly couple behind her.
“I’m a doctor. I heard you’ve been paralyzed and bedridden for ten years, so I came to examine you.”
Her gaze slowly swept up and down his figure, her tone dripping with amusement.
“But judging from what I see now… your recovery is certainly unexpected.”
Tie Zhu’s face turned pale as he frantically waved his hands.
“No need! No need! I’m already cured now! It must be a miracle from the gods and Buddhas! You should all go home!”
“Oh my, what a miracle indeed.”
Feng Zexuan lightly clapped her hands. Her voice wasn’t loud, yet it carried clearly across the entire courtyard.
“A man paralyzed for ten years recovers overnight, and instead of first trying to walk around and loosen his stiff limbs…”
She smiled faintly, though her eyes had turned cold.
“He immediately puts on women’s clothing and starts dancing gracefully.”
“This kind of medical miracle deserves careful study.”
At that moment, a lazy and flirtatious female voice drifted from the inner room.
“Brother Tie Zhu, who is it? Why’s it so noisy this early in the morning?”
A woman stumbled out sleepily from the back room, her hair messy and clothes disheveled.
But the moment she saw her in-laws and the huge crowd of strangers at the entrance, she jumped in fright as well.
“Father, Mother, why did you come back so early?”
Feng Zexuan looked at the “through thick and thin” couple and laughed.
“Oh? Sister-in-law’s still sleeping until nearly noon? Looks like life’s been pretty relaxing.”
“Not at all.”
The wife instantly switched to a virtuous and hardworking expression, lazily yawning as she pointed toward a basin in the courtyard overflowing with dirty laundry.
“I stayed up really late taking care of Tie Zhu last night. Didn’t get to sleep until midnight.”
“I still have to wash clothes for the whole family later. I’m exhausted!”
【Oh ho, the main cast has assembled!】
【One pretending to be crippled, the other pretending to be busy. Truly a match made in heaven!】
【Those clothes in the basin are probably about to grow mold!】
The old woman finally snapped out of the devastating shock.
She looked at the blindingly pink women’s outfit on her son.
Then at her daughter-in-law’s completely self-righteous expression.
Ten years of hardship, grievance, and exhaustion transformed in that instant into towering fury and bone-chilling coldness.
Tears streamed down her face once more.
But this time, they were tears of despair.
At last, she could no longer deny the truth—
She and her husband had been tricked by their own biological son into serving him like beasts of burden for a full ten years!
This wasn’t “raising a son for support in old age.”
This was raising a bloodsucking ancestor who clung to their bones and drained them dry!
“Tie Zhu…”
The old woman’s voice was hoarse and icy, stripped of all warmth.
“Have you been pretending to be crippled this entire time… deceiving me and your father?!”
