SFTD -Chapter 254 Rabies Virus (Part 9)

With that interruption, Wang Zhihua instantly began bowing repeatedly. After all, he never wanted to experience last night’s exhaustion tactics again for the rest of his life. It would shave twenty years off his lifespan!

“I’ll talk, I’ll talk! This is the materials warehouse. Only I and the executive vice president who was arrested downstairs, Li Xiaohong, have authorization to enter. As for the inventory lists and records, there’s a computer inside. Whenever we remove or add anything, it has to be scanned and automatically logged.”

Hearing this, Wang Man shoved Wang Zhihua’s shoulder.

“What are you waiting for? Open it already.”

Xu Biao reached out to stop Wang Man.

“Hold on. No rush. There are three identical warehouses here—do they all store the same things? Besides, something this secretive and tightly controlled would really be stored here in large quantities?”

Wang Zhihua had not expected the seemingly clumsy Xu Biao to think that far ahead. He quickly averted his eyes and looked toward Wang Man and Xiao Zeng beside him, showing a trace of anxiety and innocence.

“I’ve really told you everything! Officer, this place only stores leftover materials, along with some organs that need to be distributed and transferred throughout eastern Ludong Province. But I honestly don’t know where they’re shipped. Whenever designated personnel arrive, I just open the door for them.”

Xu Biao walked over to Wang Zhihua and smiled as he patted his shoulder. He still wore that roguish grin, but Zhou Hai already knew what he was about to say. Turning to face Wang Zhihua, Zhou Hai watched as Xu Biao slightly raised his chin and continued: “These three doors are connected to the police system and use a complete scan-entry system. That means the live surveillance footage inside is also transmitted to your higher management in real time, right? So the moment we open this door, our actions are already uploaded, correct?”

Wang Zhihua looked shocked and confused. He tried to spread his hands in explanation, but the handcuffs restricted his movement.

“I don’t know. I only manage this hospital.”

Wang Man grabbed Wang Zhihua by the collar.

“I already told you not to test my patience. Do you think simply following orders means you won’t bear criminal responsibility? You’re wrong. Obstructing a judicial investigation counts as assisting in the destruction and fabrication of evidence. I may not be part of the court, but I will truthfully report all your actions to the procuratorate for prosecution.”

Then he turned back to Xu Biao.

“What can we do? Cut off the surveillance by shutting down the power?”

Xu Biao shook his head.

“If the power’s cut, we won’t be able to get in. Besides, hospitals all have backup power systems. Even if electricity fails, emergency generators kick in immediately, so that won’t work. Wait a moment.”

As he spoke, Xu Biao pulled out a laptop from the investigation kit and connected to Xiao Hu on QQ. After briefly explaining the situation, the other side quickly replied, telling him to wait ten minutes and it would be handled.

Xu Biao hurriedly responded that it had to look exactly the same as before, as if nobody had ever entered. Xiao Hu replied with a rolling-eyes emoji. Xu Biao grinned when he saw it. He wasn’t offended—capable people all had a bit of temper, and he understood that. Looking up at Zhou Hai, he then glared at Wang Zhihua.

“He can handle it in ten minutes. Let’s wait a bit.”

Zhou Hai said nothing. He merely tilted his head slightly and glanced at Wang Zhihua. The man no longer wore those exaggerated expressions from earlier. Instead, he frowned faintly, seemingly thinking of countermeasures.

Zhou Hai took out his phone, typed a sentence, and handed it to Wang Man.

Have you investigated Wang Zhihua’s social connections and identity information? I feel like he belongs to the upper levels of this Lin family system. Even at a time like this, he still isn’t worried about himself—he’s only thinking about passing information along.

Wang Man took the phone and read Zhou Hai’s doubts. He typed a reply:

We checked using his ID card. Completely clean. Guangdong native, vocational school graduate, thirty-eight years old this year. His family are all farmers. Look—this is his identity information.

Wang Man handed the retrieved information to Zhou Hai. Sure enough, it matched what Wang Man had said. But when Zhou Hai scrolled downward, he noticed the fingerprint section was blank.

Pointing at the empty field, Zhou Hai looked toward Wang Man. Wang Man leaned close and whispered:

“That’s actually pretty normal. Even though many rural police stations upgraded to the new ID system, a lot of them still have incomplete records.”

Zhou Hai narrowed his eyes and returned to the photo. He stared at Wang Zhihua’s face, then looked back at the ID photo again. Something felt off.

Handing the phone back to Wang Man, Zhou Hai said:

“Check his banking records. Quickly.”

Wang Man glanced at Zhou Hai, then immediately sent a message ordering the officers downstairs to investigate the bank accounts under Wang Zhihua’s name. After all, all of Wang Zhihua’s documents had already been confiscated.

Just then, Xu Biao’s phone rang. Xiao Hu had called back, saying it was done. Looking at the time, it had taken less than five minutes. Xu Biao looked disgusted.

“You could finish it in five minutes, yet you told me ten. Should I trust you or not? Still, thanks. That was impressive!”

Xiao Hu could not help laughing. Xu Biao was the kind of person who didn’t annoy others—his mouth was a little foul, but his character was decent.

“Enough joking around. Be careful your Hai-ge doesn’t smack you in the head later.”

Then he hung up.

Xu Biao nodded toward Zhou Hai and Wang Man.

“It’s done. Fingerprint access is available now!”

The moment Xu Biao said this, Wang Zhihua—who had been pretending not to care—kept glancing toward the password lock.

Zhou Hai had already noticed his movements. Walking over, he lightly kicked the side of Wang Zhihua’s shoe with his toe.

“Input your fingerprint directly. Don’t try anything clever like intentionally entering the wrong code. After three failed attempts, it locks automatically and requires remote authorization to reopen. You don’t think we’re idiots, do you? Relax. You can’t save anyone. Even if you deliberately fail the input, I can still find someone to open this door. I’ve already given you the opportunity. Whether you take it or not is up to you.”

Such blunt words instantly stunned Wang Zhihua.

Were his thoughts really that obvious?

This man was terrifying. Even the way Zhou Hai looked at him carried a bone-piercing chill.

Zhou Hai was not exaggerating. If Xiao Hu could remotely control the leakage of all this information, cracking these three doors was only a matter of time.

But they had no time to waste now. Finding the source of the donors was the real priority.

Wang Zhihua pressed his lips tightly together. After an intense internal struggle, he walked straight toward the door. Using his left thumb, he entered the fingerprint scan, then typed a long string of numbers. With three sharp beeps, the stainless-steel doors retracted to both sides.

A wave of icy air rushed out into the corridor. Even in June, the cold was enough to make everyone’s hairs stand on end.

Wang Man and Xiao Zeng each grabbed Wang Zhihua by the collar from either side and dragged him inside.

Zhou Hai and Xu Biao followed shortly after.

The temperature inside was probably around four degrees Celsius above zero. After all, that was the optimal temperature for preserving donors and human organs.

Wang Man tightened his grip, nearly yanking Wang Zhihua off his feet.

“Where are the items?”
