She looked up at Luo Xinglan and said:
“Our NPCs also need to exit and take a break now. Thank you, everyone, thank you! Feel free to explore other areas of the resort for the time being.”
Luo Xinglan immediately understood.
Without delay, she escorted the black-clad swordsman through a side door connected to the terrace and into the restaurant.
Seeing this, Miao Yunyou quickly led Wen Xiuning and Ling Nianci after them, hurrying through the crowd and into the building. Hua Ying and Wei Zijun followed close behind.
The staff efficiently guided the tourists away, and the lively noise outside gradually faded as it was blocked by the heavy wooden doors.
The third floor of the new restaurant had already completed all major construction work.
The ancient-style layout had taken shape. Carved beams, wooden pillars, and floor-to-ceiling lattice windows had all been installed, giving the space an elegant and refined atmosphere.
However, the final cleaning and interior decoration had not yet been completed.
A few construction boards, tools, and wood shavings remained scattered on the floor.
The air carried the faint scent of fresh timber mixed with a trace of paint.
Luo Xinglan casually placed the black-clad swordsman onto a solid wooden chair in the center of the hall.
Looking down at him, she considered that the Cult Leader would probably arrive soon.
To be safe, additional precautions seemed necessary.
So she bent down and picked up a length of thick electrical cable lying nearby.
With swift, practiced movements, she guided the cable behind the man’s chair and tightly secured his wrists and waist against the backrest.
The cable wrapped around him layer after layer, locking him firmly to the chair.
The knots were tightened thoroughly, leaving no possibility of standing, exerting force, or escaping.
The black-clad swordsman: “…”
He had already been beaten into submission.
Was all this extra tying-up really necessary?
Just as the restraints were secured, Miao Yunyou and the others arrived upstairs.
Unable to wait any longer, Ling Nianci rushed forward and stopped in front of the black-clad swordsman.
Her eyes were filled with nervous anticipation, and her voice trembled slightly.
“Dad! It’s me, Niannian! Look at me! Don’t you recognize me?”
The black-clad swordsman lifted his gaze.
His dark eyes were deep and cold, devoid of warmth.
His brows drew together tightly as he looked at Ling Nianci’s youthful face.
There was nothing in his eyes.
No trace of familiarity.
No warmth.
Only the instinctive caution and distance reserved for a stranger.
There wasn’t a single memory connecting him to this daughter.
To him, she was completely unfamiliar.
Ling Nianci felt somewhat wronged.
Turning to her mother, she said:
“Mom, look at him.”
Nearby, Wen Xiuning quietly watched the scene unfold.
A long, soft sigh escaped her lips.
It was a very gentle sigh, carrying years of grievance, longing, concern, and restrained sorrow before disappearing silently into the air.
Then she stepped aside and pulled over an identical wooden chair.
Sitting down directly across from the black-clad swordsman, she positioned herself only a short distance away.
The two sat face-to-face.
Wen Xiuning’s posture was graceful and composed.
There was no forcefulness in her manner, yet her eyes contained an unwavering depth of affection and certainty.
Looking at the man she loved—the man who had forgotten everything—she spoke slowly and gently.
“Yunxiao, how could you forget me and our daughter?”
The black-clad swordsman’s pupils shifted slightly.
His gaze locked onto her face.
His eyes were filled with hesitation and confusion.
The woman before him looked at him with warmth and tenderness.
Yet his mind remained completely blank.
No matter how hard he searched, he could not find even the smallest fragment of memory related to her.
She was a stranger.
And yet…
Somewhere deep inside his heart, an inexplicable flutter stirred.
It was faint, but enough to prevent him from treating her with complete coldness.
Wen Xiuning leaned forward slightly.
Their knees touched gently.
There was no space between them.
The warmth of their bodies passed through their clothing.
Though tightly bound to the chair, the man instinctively leaned backward, attempting to create distance.
Unhurried, she took advantage of their close proximity and continued speaking softly.
Her voice was as gentle as warm water, yet it carried a subtle force that was difficult to resist.
“Don’t be afraid.
“Your name is Ling Yunxiao.
“I am your wife, Wen Xiuning.
“This is our daughter, Ling Nianci.
“You’re simply ill right now.
“We have the best doctors here, and they will definitely cure you.”
Wen Xiuning slowly raised her slender fingers.
Her movements were gentle and deliberate as she lightly touched the line of his jaw.
Her fingertips softly brushed against his cool skin.
Looking directly into his deep eyes, she quietly asked:
“You’ll trust me, won’t you?”
Ling Yunxiao’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly.
Faced with this stranger who was being far too gentle and far too intimate, the tension and vigilance in his body gradually began to loosen.
His voice emerged awkwardly, tinged with confusion and panic.
“I… I don’t…”
The second half of his refusal never made it out of his mouth.
Wen Xiuning lowered her eyes slightly.
Her fingertips slowly moved downward until they rested gently beside his ear.
With delicate, unhurried motions, she softly caressed the skin beneath his ear.
“You don’t believe me?”
Her tenderness enveloped him at close range.
It was unfamiliar.
Yet somehow, it carried a strangely fatal sense of familiarity.
Ling Yunxiao’s ears instantly turned crimson.
The redness spread down his neck, and his entire face grew hot.
The tension in his body gradually melted away.
All of his vigilance.
All of his resistance.
All of his struggle.
They crumbled beneath that gentle warmth.
Leaning back slightly against the chair, the conflict in his eyes finally faded.
What remained was complete resignation and compromise.
His voice came out low and hoarse.
“I believe you…”
Miao Yunyou was dumbfounded.
Hua Ying and Wei Zijun were equally stunned.
Even Luo Xinglan was so shocked that she forgot to blink for several seconds.
The spacious third floor fell silent.
Only the occasional sounds of construction work from higher floors echoed faintly in the distance, making the atmosphere even more strange—and hilarious.
So this is the power of married people?!
That’s way too effective!
Wen Xiuning slowly withdrew her hand.
A gentle smile appeared on her lips.
“Good. I’ll take you to see a doctor.”
Nearby, Ling Nianci watched this familiar interaction and nodded with relief.
A faint smile spread across her face.
“My father still listens to my mother, just like always.”
Even after losing his memory…
That hadn’t changed.
Miao Yunyou scratched her head in confusion.
“So, are we heading to the clinic now? What about all these restraints on him…?”
Should they remove them now?
What if he was pretending?
What if they untied him and he immediately ran off again?
Hearing this, Wen Xiuning turned toward the man in the chair.
Her eyes remained gentle and clear.
Speaking softly and patiently, she asked him word by word:
“Yunxiao, we’re going to remove these restraints in a moment.
“You won’t run away, will you?”
Ling Yunxiao lowered his eyes and thought for a moment.
Then he replied calmly and openly:
“If you’re worried, you can first tie my hands behind my back with that blue rope.
“Then blindfold me.
“After that, remove the rest of the restraints.
“That way, even if I wanted to run, I wouldn’t be able to get very far.”
Everyone: “…”
This was the first time any of them had ever heard someone make a request like that.
The “blue rope” he was referring to was actually the thick electrical cable.
And, of course, he had specifically chosen the strongest restraint available.
It was clear that, in order to reassure everyone, he was being remarkably ruthless toward himself.
Luo Xinglan, however, was quite satisfied with the suggestion.
“Acceptable. Binding the hands is enough.”
After all, the Cult Leader’s safety was the highest priority.
Following a brief silence, Miao Yunyou could no longer suppress her curiosity.
She quietly sidled up to Ling Nianci and whispered:
“Was your dad a hopeless romantic before this?”
Ling Nianci immediately pursed her lips and protested in a serious whisper:
“How can you call that a hopeless romantic?
“That’s called being a perfect match.
“True love conquers all.
“Two hearts running toward each other.”
Miao Yunyou nodded.
“So he was.”
Ling Nianci: “…”
After a moment of silence, she sighed.
“…Okay, yes. He definitely was.”
