The days flew by quickly amid tense yet orderly preparations, and before long, it was two days before the opening ceremony of the International Martial Arts Exchange Conference.
According to the prior agreement with the organizing committee, this was the day their staff would officially move into the resort.
They had already informed Miao Yunyou in advance that they would book all the rooms in the resort for the participating athletes’ accommodation and for the committee’s office use.
Boss Miao had nothing but high praise for such deep-pocketed behavior.
In the early morning, Xuanwu Mountain was still shrouded in a thin layer of mist when several vehicles bearing the event committee’s logo slowly drove into the resort. Staff members in uniform got out one after another, orderly unloading luggage and office supplies, creating a bustling scene.
Miao Yunyou had already prepared all the rooms as agreed and was waiting at the entrance to welcome them.
After getting out of the car, the person in charge walked straight toward her. After a brief exchange of pleasantries, they explained that moving in two days early was mainly to familiarize themselves with the venue and complete the final coordination work, ensuring the opening ceremony would proceed smoothly.
In fact, when Miao Yunyou had previously learned that the committee would book all 99 rooms, she had secretly done some calculations. With 53 participating countries, even if each country were assigned just two rooms, that would require 106 rooms—clearly not enough. However, she hadn’t asked further at the time, assuming the committee must have its own arrangements.
As if seeing through her earlier doubts, the person in charge took the initiative to explain that they had already considered the room shortage. After surveying the accommodation needs of each country, only a little over twenty countries chose to stay at the resort.
The remaining thirty-plus countries had all opted for five-star hotels in the city, as the facilities and standard there better matched their expectations.
Some countries’ athletes were not accustomed to the resort’s traditional-style decor and felt it was not convenient enough to stay in.
Others simply thought the resort’s standard was too low to match the status of their competitors. They would rather spend extra time commuting to the city than give up the prestige of staying in a five-star hotel.
Miao Yunyou: Fine, then.
She took it all in stride and wasn’t the least bit upset.
Whether they stayed or not didn’t matter—after all, the room fees had already been fully paid. Whether those people showed up or not, the money was securely in her pocket. Compared to empty reputation, tangible profit was what truly mattered.
But the resort staff couldn’t swallow this insult.
Su Qingyu, full of indignation, couldn’t help but complain, “Those people are too much! What’s so great about five-star hotels? Our resort has beautiful scenery, complete facilities, and decent service—why look down on us? By the way, Leader, what exactly is a five-star hotel?”
Even though he didn’t really understand what a five-star hotel meant, he was convinced it couldn’t compare to their mountain!
A-Ning also asked curiously, “Yeah, Leader, what star rating are we?”
Chu Fuling crossed her arms, “No matter what, we should at least be nine stars, right? By the way, Senior Sister, do you know what the full score is?”
Chu Ningshuang replied casually, “How would I know? One hundred?”
Lei Lingyin felt that was a bit too high, “Ten, maybe?”
Su Wangkui stroked his beard and said proudly, “If the full score is ten stars, then with our feng shui, our standard, and our people, we should at least be eight or nine stars.”
The group chatted animatedly, growing more excited by the second. Watching them, Miao Yunyou helplessly rubbed her forehead, took out her phone, and searched for quite a while. Then she cleared her throat and, with a dark expression, explained: “Everyone… sorry, I just checked. Only hotels that have been in operation for more than a year can be rated. So strictly speaking… we’re currently zero-star.”
Everyone: “…”
So… in that case, it actually didn’t seem so unreasonable for them to choose five-star hotels after all.
.
On the same afternoon that the organizing committee moved in, the team responsible for the full live broadcast and publicity of the International Martial Arts Exchange Conference also arrived at Xuanwu Mountain Resort one after another.
Two vehicles loaded with professional filming and streaming equipment slowly pulled to a stop. Staff members from Nansheng TV and Shanhai Live filed out, each carrying specialized gear. Their expressions were focused and hurried, and as soon as they arrived at the resort, they immediately got to work.
Miao Yunyou had already arranged the livestreaming area in advance. It was set up on one side of the outdoor venue, with a dedicated section equipped with sufficient power supply, tables, and chairs to facilitate the broadcast team.
As soon as she walked over, she spotted a familiar figure and recognized him instantly—it was Brother Li, the host from Nansheng TV who had previously visited the resort for an interview, and with whom she had cooperated very pleasantly.
Dressed in a sharp dark gray suit with neatly combed hair, Brother Li wore an uncontrollable smile on his face. When he saw Miao Yunyou, excitement filled his eyes. He quickly stepped forward and said enthusiastically:
“Boss Miao, long time no see! I didn’t expect we’d get to work together again—it’s such an honor! Being able to handle the live broadcast of this international martial arts event is all thanks to your previous support!”
Miao Yunyou smiled in response, “You’re too polite. If there’s anything you need me to coordinate, just let me know.”
Brother Li was indeed extremely excited. In the past, a live broadcast of such an international event would never have gone to a host of his level. This time, thanks to Miao Yunyou, he had gotten this rare opportunity—undoubtedly a huge boost to his career!
He knew it—stick with Boss Miao, and there’d be rewards!!!
While the two were talking, the Shanhai Live team had also fully assembled. Leading them was a young man in his twenties, dressed in casual black sportswear. He greeted everyone with a smile, looking sharp and quick-witted.
The young man stepped forward proactively, extending his hand with both respect and enthusiasm:
“Hello, Boss Miao! I’m Zhang Yiming, head of the planning department at Shanhai Live. I’ve heard so much about you! Our President Zhang often mentions you!”
Brother Li immediately stepped aside tactfully, thinking to himself: As expected of Boss Miao—she even has connections with that famous President Zhang.
When Miao Yunyou heard that he was from her sister’s company—and apparently a junior executive at that—she instantly became more alert.
After all, the last time Teacher Jiu’er suddenly transformed into a nine-tailed fox had dealt quite a shock to her fragile mental world. Now, she felt both curious and wary about the existence of “non-humans.”
Lowering her voice, she cautiously probed, “So, head of the planning department… um… is there anything else I should know?”
Though her question was vague, Zhang Yiming immediately understood the hint. Smiling, he said:
“Oh, right—you met Teacher Jiu’er last time, didn’t you? I’m different from her. She’s a streamer, and I’m a staff ‘member.’”
It sounded like an ordinary sentence, but oddly enough, he emphasized the word “person” in “staff member.”
The meaning was simple: They’re demons—I’m human. We’re not the same.
Miao Yunyou: “Wow.”
So her sister’s company actually has humans too.
Zhang Yiming smiled and reassured her, “Don’t worry, Boss Miao. This isn’t our first collaboration with Nansheng TV. We’re very familiar with the livestream process and promotional coordination, so you don’t need to worry about anything. We’ve already handled all the preliminary arrangements. Next, we’ll start setting up equipment and testing signals to ensure the opening ceremony and subsequent matches are broadcast smoothly without any issues.”
Sure enough, as soon as he finished speaking, Zhang Yiming immediately began assigning tasks. Some staff adjusted cameras, others set up the streaming backend, while some tested audio and video. Their movements were skilled and well-organized.
Not to be outdone, Brother Li quickly gathered his own team to coordinate the broadcast flow, finalize interview segments, and prepare hosting scripts. The two sides had clear divisions of labor and worked together seamlessly.
Standing to the side and watching the busy yet orderly livestream team, Miao Yunyou finally felt completely at ease.
As someone who preferred taking it easy, she loved this feeling of not having to worry about anything at all.
