Rebirth to 80’s to Have a Good Life 13 min read 66 of 195 96

So everyone unanimously decided to call the student’s parents over for a discussion. They would see if it was better to suspend school for a year first, go home to rest properly for a while, and then come back to school.

This was also a way of indirectly dropping out.

Besides, the Academic Affairs Office gave a serious public notice about the matter.

After school, when the students saw the announcement on the bulletin board, they all discussed it as they walked home from school.

Liao Zhaodi was filled with righteous indignation and said, “How can someone be so cruel? She’s even your relative, yet she treats you like this. Su Min, go back and tell your parents to go to their house and find out what’s really going on.”

Su Min nodded, feeling that this time it was really necessary to tell her parents about the matter. Last time it involved Gao Long being reported, and she didn’t want others to know, so she hadn’t told her parents. But this time, what Su Wenwen did really had to be known by her parents. She was going to be the one to complain this time. Let Su Wenwen know — she wasn’t the only one who could complain; there were people backing her up.

Su Changrong still didn’t know that his daughter had been bullied, but Su Changgui already knew that his daughter had caused trouble again.

The middle school called directly to his office, and the teacher who answered was still someone from the office. They deliberately reported the matter in front of the office staff. Now everyone in the office knew his daughter had done something wrong at school and that the parents were called to the school.

Su Changgui immediately felt his face burning with anger, like he had been slapped hard, and he was stunned for a long time.

He forced a smile and gave thanks, then packed up his things and went home silently fuming.

When he got home, Gao Hong’s mother was in the living room helping Gao Hong pick vegetables. Seeing Su Changgui return, she smiled and said, “Changgui is back.”

Su Changgui glanced around the house and asked, “Where’s Wenwen?”

Gao Hong’s mother saw his expression, stood up, and said, “Wenwen hasn’t come back yet. What’s wrong?”

Hearing the noise, Gao Hong came out of the room and asked, “Changgui, what do you want Wenwen for?”

Su Changgui’s face was full of anger. “What she did! The school even called my office looking for me!”

“What happened to Wenwen?” Gao Hong was extremely worried. She hadn’t been able to properly take care of the child lately because she was busy taking care of her own mother.

“What could she have done? It’s already good enough she didn’t cause trouble. The school called and said she did something bad and asked the parents to come for a talk. You’ll come with me and see what good thing your daughter did.”

Just as Su Changgui was speaking passionately, Su Wenwen opened the door and came in. Seeing the situation at home, she quickly ran over to Gao Hong and asked Su Changgui, “What do you want to do now?”

“You came back just in time!” Su Changgui grabbed her arm and pulled her away from Gao Hong, angrily saying, “What exactly did you do at school? How come the school called my office asking me to go there?”

Hearing Su Changgui mention the matter, Su Wenwen suddenly looked a little guilty.

Seeing her expression, Gao Hong understood something must have happened and hurriedly said, “What did you do? Just tell us.”

Su Wenwen had already felt very wronged because of the accusations and insults from teachers and classmates at school. She never expected that even her mother, who always loved her the most, would question her like this. She suddenly felt overwhelmed with grievance, and tears immediately welled up in her eyes.

“Waa—I didn’t do anything wrong! I just told the truth. Why does no one believe me?”

She wiped her tears and began to cry.

Gao Hong’s mother quickly came over and held the child in her arms. “What’s going on here? No matter what, you can’t take it out on the child.”

Su Changgui angrily pulled Su Wenwen out and said, “Don’t get involved. This child has been spoiled by your Gao family, which is why she keeps causing trouble. At such a young age, she’s already making a scene. That old man got arrested; he deserved it.”

“Su Changgui, how can you say such things?” Gao Hong’s mother was anxious and upset. Hearing that, she couldn’t hold back and shouted at Su Changgui.

“Am I not speaking the truth? Back then, Wenwen hurt Minzi, and not only did you not advise her, you even sided with the child. Only after the matter was exposed was she caught. Isn’t that true?”

Gao Hong stood in front of Gao Hong’s mother and said, “Su Changgui, that’s all in the past. Don’t bring it up again. My mom’s health isn’t good; don’t make her upset.”

Su Changgui snorted heavily. “I won’t bring that up again, but this time with Wenwen, I want to get to the bottom of it — what disgraceful thing has she done now?”

He looked down at Su Wenwen’s wronged face. “Tell me, what exactly happened?”

Su Wenwen pouted under Su Changgui’s glare. “I didn’t do anything. Su Min usually gets really close to her deskmate Wen Heping, which is suspicious. I just told the truth, so what?”

“Nonsense! Minzi would never do such a thing,” Su Changgui flatly rejected.

Although Su Min was sometimes a little disobedient, she wasn’t a troublemaker. At least she knew what was appropriate, unlike Wenwen. Combined with the previous times Wenwen falsely accused Su Min, Su Changgui was even more convinced that this story wasn’t trustworthy.

On the other hand, Gao Hong heard her daughter’s words and took delight in the misfortune, “Did you hear that? It’s not my daughter who made a mistake, it’s your niece. At such a young age, already dating someone — she’s really ill-mannered.” She had been badly suppressed by Su Changgui lately, and now that she had a shortcoming of his to hold over him, she felt a bit pleased. Her own daughter might be a bit willful, but she wasn’t like Su Changrong’s daughter who had no self-respect.

“Hmph, whether this matter is true or not remains to be seen. The school has already called, asking the parents to come over for a talk. If Wenwen really did such a thing, then you better figure out how to deal with it yourself.”

Su Changgui snorted coldly and turned to go into his room.

Gao Hong quickly hugged her daughter. “Wenwen, don’t be afraid. If we have nothing to hide, we have nothing to worry about.”

Gao Hong’s mother sighed. “Why would Changgui rather believe someone else’s child than his own daughter?”

Su Wenwen wiped her tears. “From now on, I’ll take care of my mom. I won’t take care of my dad. He’s never been good to me. He’s not really my dad anyway.”

“That Wenwen girl, she’s so bad, this isn’t the first or second time. How many times has this been now?” After hearing what Su Min said at home, Sun Qiufang wanted nothing more than to go straight to Su Changgui and Gao Hong to settle accounts.

Her daughter’s reputation was so important — and she was only in middle school, soon to take the college entrance exam. Wenwen’s behavior was basically ruining her daughter’s future.

The angrier Sun Qiufang got, the more determined she was. “I’m going to Su Changgui’s to settle this. How dare they bully my daughter like this?”

“Changgui really doesn’t know how to raise children. How did he raise a kid like that? No matter what, we’re still relatives, but this is worse than strangers,” Su Changrong frowned tightly.

“Come on, no need to make dinner tonight. Let’s go to Su Changgui’s house.”

Sun Qiufang stood up abruptly, grabbed a broom, and headed out.

“Mom, why are you taking a broom?” Su Min stared at the broom in Sun Qiufang’s hand.

“To beat them. Who knows if they’ll deny it over there,” Sun Qiufang said, gripping the broom and looking at Su Changrong. “Why are you just standing there? Let’s go!”

Su Changgui stubbed out his cigarette and said as he walked, “I don’t know if Changgui’s family knows about this.”

Sun Qiufang snorted coldly. “Who cares if they know or not? The kids are theirs, so they have to take responsibility.”

Su Min quickly locked the door and followed behind.

This time, Wenwen had to learn that messing with others without cause would only bring trouble on herself.

When the three of them arrived at Su Changgui’s house, Su Changgui’s family was eating. Hearing the knock, Gao Hong quickly went to open the door, but when she saw Su Changrong’s family, she instinctively shut the door.

Sun Qiufang was quick and pushed the door open. “Why shut the door? Are you guilty?”

She strode two steps forward and glared fiercely at Gao Hong.

The two families had kept to themselves, living their own lives without bothering anyone, but Su Changgui’s family really crossed the line by letting their child bully hers. They thought they could be pushed around, huh?

Sun Qiufang’s eyes widened even more.

It was the first time Gao Hong had been stared down like that by Sun Qiufang, and she felt uncomfortable, stepping back two steps.

Gao Hong’s mother and Su Changgui saw this and quickly came over. Gao Hong’s mother pulled Gao Hong behind her and looked at Sun Qiufang. “What are you doing?”

“What are we doing? Why don’t you ask what your granddaughter did?” Sun Qiufang said, glaring at Su Changgui.

Hearing this, Gao Hong knew she meant the thing her daughter had mentioned before. She quickly said, “It’s your daughter who doesn’t respect herself. What does that have to do with our Wenwen? Your Su family is just taking advantage because my dad’s not doing well now. I know exactly what kind of people you are. If it weren’t for my dad being in prison, you wouldn’t dare come here and make a scene.”

Sun Qiufang laughed. “Who do you think you are? Your dad isn’t some king or god. I’m not afraid of him. Even if he hadn’t been in prison, our family would still have a point. Our kid is studying well. What harm have we done to you? You’re the ones trying to ruin our daughter.”

Gao Hong’s mother, seeing Sun Qiufang’s arrogance, shouted angrily, “What ‘ruining your daughter’? Your own daughter goes around dating at this age and has no manners, and you have the nerve to come to our house?”

“Calling us uneducated — you guys are no better,” Sun Qiufang suddenly said. “Look at the daughter you raised. No wonder Changgui has to look for someone else outside.”

Hmph. She hadn’t wanted to get involved at first, but this family had crossed the line, and hers wasn’t easy to mess with.

Gao Hong heard that and glared at Su Changgui. She had known before that Su Changgui had some dealings with Shao Yun, but hearing Sun Qiufang’s words, did that mean Su Changgui and Shao Yun really did something?

Su Changgui was also surprised to hear Sun Qiufang’s words, but his face showed no panic.

Seeing Su Changgui so calm, Gao Hong angrily grabbed his arm and hit him. “Su Changgui, you’re heartless! You’re shameless! You have no conscience!”

After a few hits, Su Changgui suddenly grabbed Gao Hong’s hand and forcefully pushed her aside, making her fall to the ground. “Enough!”

He glared at Gao Hong. “What right do you have to control me? All these years, have you ever treated me like your husband? In front of you, I’m just a damned bastard!” Angry, he even cursed. “Your parents and your daughter don’t consider me family, yet force me to kneel for you. What kind of cultured family is the Gao family? You’re worse than us country folk. At least we country people never force family members to kneel.”

Thinking about the last time he had to kneel, Su Changgui felt like a huge stone was pressing down on his chest, suffocating him.

“That was your own choice. Don’t blame me!” Gao Hong gritted her teeth at him.

Su Changrong and Sun Qiufang watched the family drama silently from the side.

Su Wenwen cried and tried to reason, but when no one listened, she turned and glared at Su Min, “It’s all your fault!”

Su Min coldly looked back at her. “You’re the one who caused this. I didn’t provoke you, but you spread rumors everywhere, causing people to curse me. Now you’re suffering the consequences, right? Su Wenwen, you’re the troublemaker in your family. You caused your grandfather to be arrested. You caused your parents to fight and nearly divorce — it’s all your fault. If you keep harming people, sooner or later you’ll ruin your whole family!”

“You’re talking nonsense!” Su Wenwen cried angrily.

Nearby, Gao Hong’s mother tried to calm Gao Hong and Su Wenwen, looking very worried.

Seeing the family quarrel getting worse, Sun Qiufang shouted, “We’ll talk more at school tomorrow. I’m going to demand an explanation from the school. Don’t think you can get away with this!”

Then she grabbed Su Min and left.

Su Changrong sighed and hurried to follow.

“Do you think it was a bit unfair to say this might cause Changgui and Gao Hong to divorce?” On the way home, Su Changrong thought about how Su Changgui and Gao Hong had argued and felt uneasy. It was one thing to argue, but causing a divorce seemed too harsh.

Sun Qiufang didn’t care. “Why? You planning to cover for Changgui? I said this for a reason. Gao Hong should be grateful to me. And if one day you have someone on the side and I find out, I’ll make sure to benefit that person too.”

“Stop talking nonsense,” Su Changrong said sternly. “After all we’ve been through, how could I do something to betray you?” He had no time for nonsense — the family business was a mess already, and he couldn’t afford to let Changgui run wild. Besides, his own wife and daughter were both fine; he wasn’t as foolish as Changgui.

But Changgui’s wife and daughter were definitely trouble.

Sun Qiufang snorted. “If only it were true. Just wait. Gao Hong isn’t educating her daughter right. Sooner or later she’ll pay for it. Kids like Su Wenwen aren’t liked anywhere.”

Su Min pursed her lips, hoping Wenwen would learn her lesson this time and stop causing trouble. If she didn’t get tired, others would be annoyed.

The next day at school, Sun Qiufang went with Su Min first, while Su Changrong went to open his shop before coming to the school meeting. This time, they wanted the school to give a fair ruling.

Though Su Changgui and Gao Hong had quarreled, nothing serious happened afterward.

Su Changgui couldn’t stand Gao Hong but had no plans for divorce. After all, with his father-in-law in jail, divorcing now would be embarrassing. It would also damage their reputation at the school.

The couple coldly ignored each other all night, but the next day they agreed to go to the school together to handle the Wenwen matter.

After taking leave from work, they arrived at the school where Sun Qiufang was speaking excitedly with Teacher Wu.

Teacher Wu was surprised to learn from Sun Qiufang that Su Wenwen and Su Min were actually cousins.

He could understand outsiders quarreling and causing trouble, but cousins should be close — closer than distant relatives even — yet they were repeatedly harming each other. Su Wenwen’s mindset must have failed moral education back in elementary school.

When Su Changgui’s family entered Teacher Wu’s office, Sun Qiufang sneered at them.

Gao Hong bit her lip and sat opposite the desk.

Although Teacher Wu had dealt with parents before, this was his first time handling such a situation — especially since the two sides were relatives. It was tricky to manage because if he handled it poorly, he would offend both sides.

Sun Qiufang, seeing Teacher Wu hadn’t spoken, said seriously, “Teacher Wu, as I said earlier, our Su Min isn’t dating anyone. She’s so busy studying she has no time for that. Also, she wasn’t at the park playing with any boy that day; she was there on official business. Whoever spread these rumors, we ask the school to stand up for Min’s innocence.”
