Xi Yuechen came and went in a hurry, and he didn’t stay long at the Su residence. After Su Feng returned from work, the two of them chatted briefly before heading back to the Zhengjia Courtyard.
It was getting late, and he couldn’t very well leave directly from the Su residence—there were still several people waiting for him at the Zhengjia Courtyard.
After watching Xi Yuechen leave, Su Ruo returned to her room with cheerful steps for the first time, which made Zhang Huaqing shake her head helplessly. Naturally, she understood why her daughter was acting so unusually “out of character.”
Humming a tune, Su Ruo let out a long sigh as she collapsed onto the soft bed, her smile radiant and exuberant.
Just over a month left…
Su Ruo felt her face flush and her heart race, thinking about how soon she would be following the army. Her heart leapt with excitement, almost trembling slightly.
It was wonderful—the long march was finally over. From now on, life would be peaceful and tranquil. Ha ha.
However, Su Ruo raised an elegant brow, and her smile dimmed slightly, as though there was still one matter she needed to resolve before leaving.
Looking out at the blue sky and white clouds, Su Ruo’s mood was mixed. Zhou Yunzhen… she wondered what she was doing now. Sulking and sighing in self-pity, or scheming relentlessly to get rid of her?
At this point, even if the sky rained red, Su Ruo didn’t believe Zhou Yunzhen would suddenly see the light and turn back. That woman was like a strong piece of chewing gum—once stuck, there was no peeling her off peacefully.
Although after joining the army, Zhou Yunzhen’s fate—alive or dead—would no longer concern Su Ruo, and even less so Xi Yuechen, how could she possibly contact him? How could she possibly seduce him?
But Su Ruo was just irritated. The thought of another woman constantly thinking about her commander made her uncomfortable all over. So even if Zhou Yunzhen’s feelings were one-sided, Su Ruo wasn’t willing to let her continue with such malicious intentions. It had to be dealt with!
There was still a month left. Time to pick up the pace, Su Ruo thought coldly, a smile curling at the corner of her lips. Zhou Yunzhen, don’t even think about taking what isn’t yours. You don’t have the luck for it anyway.
Su Ruo gazed out the window, the smile on her face replaced by a deep, serious expression. Such a pesky fly… and she had to trouble herself to swat it away.
“Hey, He Wen.”
Actions speak louder than feelings. After making up her mind, Su Ruo immediately took out her phone and called He Wen.
“Oh? How come the colonel’s wife has time to call me?”
He Wen answered cheerfully, mock-surprised. Judging by the way he put down what he was holding, he seemed to be in a good mood.
However…
Feng Weijia, standing nearby, slightly changed his expression and subtly edged closer, trying to “eavesdrop” a little.
He Wen didn’t suspect a thing and continued speaking with Su Ruo, ignoring him completely.
“In just a month, I’ll be following my commander. There’s something we need to settle quickly, or even if I reunite with him, my heart will be uneasy.”
Su Ruo turned over, lying on her stomach on the bed, casually flipping through a magazine.
Xi Zi had just been taken away by Zhang Huaqing and was probably fast asleep now. With Xi Yuechen suddenly gone, Su Ruo felt a little bored.
“Next month? So soon?”
Hearing Su Ruo say she would join the army next month, He Wen instinctively exclaimed, surprised.
“Shouting for what?” Su Ruo rolled her eyes. “Didn’t I already tell you I’d join when Xi Zi turned half a year old? My son will be six months old next month. What’s the big deal?”
Realizing Su Ruo had indeed mentioned this before, He Wen felt a bit embarrassed and chuckled awkwardly.
Yes, she had said it—but it still felt sudden. How had it gone by so fast? She was already going to join the army?
Joining the army… wasn’t that basically abandoning us? He Wen frowned.
“But it still feels sudden.”
Su Ruo sighed. “There’s nothing sudden about it. I’ve waited so long for this day, it feels like time has crawled. Now, hurry and give me your blessing.”
“Alright, alright, I bless you… and your… uh… marital happiness,” He Wen replied listlessly, secretly cursing her for being so indifferent to friends once she had a husband.
“I can tell you’re just humoring me. Forget it, I won’t hold it against you.”
Thinking about joining the army, Su Ruo was in a good mood and didn’t care whether He Wen’s blessing was sincere.
“No way! I just can’t bear it! You can’t all be like me—heartless, oh no, you do have a heart, but it’s all devoted to your man,” He Wen scolded, clearly annoyed by Su Ruo’s coldness.
“Ah, joining the army is such a good thing! Why would you be reluctant? Besides, it’s not that far—just over four hours. Why be so petty?”
Su Ruo laughed and teased him, then added, “If you really can’t bear it, then before I leave, help me with something. I promise I’ll be grateful forever.”
He Wen, amused by her joking, instantly felt better. Four hours wasn’t too far—they could still meet occasionally.
But as he listened to her later words, his brows lifted slightly. With that mischievous tone, he knew she had some scheme in mind.
“What is it? Tell me, let’s see if I’m in the mood to go through fire and water for you.”
“Don’t worry. You’ll be happy to risk your life for this,” Su Ruo said with a faint smile.
“What is it? Why so secretive? Tell me.”
He Wen didn’t give it much thought; he had been busy the past few days and had long forgotten about Zhou Yunzhen.
“Heh heh, of course, it’s that Zhou Yunzhen woman. Otherwise, why would I let her keep thinking about my commander? How am I supposed to live my life?”
Su Ruo said matter-of-factly, a flash of disgust in her eyes.
“Oh right, that sly vixen hasn’t been dealt with yet either,” He Wen suddenly realized, nodding.
“Hurry up, no more talking, think of a way to teach that vixen a lesson.”
Su Ruo urged him. Time was short. Zhou Yunzhen had to be dealt with before she joined the army.
“Pfft, even a genius like me needs time to think of a brilliant plan, right? Why are you so anxious? She can’t run away. Shall we continue with our melodrama?”
Hearing that, He Wen immediately became excited, gripping his phone tightly, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Feng Weijia, watching nearby, was amused. As expected, this woman was full of life in every gesture and smile.
As for the mischievous glint on He Wen’s face, Feng Weijia happily ignored it. He already knew who the “vixen” was.
Since she was a vixen, she deserved a proper comeuppance. Why be polite?
Feng Weijia, looking pleased, thought that even if He Wen were to fully embrace her devilish side, it would be an honor for him, the esteemed Feng Third Young Master.
However, listening to He Wen, Su Ruo finally couldn’t hold back.
Feng Weijia shrugged, smiling. Now that she was joining the army, he couldn’t sit still. Was Su Ruo deeply in love or just domineering and ruthless?
Well, their military marriage was solid as a rock—he had no reason to worry. Best to watch the fun unfold.
He glanced at the excited He Wen and sighed. This woman would do anything for her friends. Now that she was “willing to risk everything,” how could he remain a quiet observer?
As Feng Weijia listened to their conversation, he thought: Dealing with a vixen? He had no experience. He, Feng Third Young Master, had accomplished many feats, had countless clever schemes, but never dealt with a vixen. This was truly a challenge.
But… a vixen is still human, right? Dealing with a vixen is just dealing with a person. Feng Weijia raised an eyebrow and smiled. Time to give his wife some advice—though with her brain, making her think of a clever plan was tricky.
He Wen had no idea what Feng Weijia was thinking and continued talking with Su Ruo. In the end, they couldn’t come up with a good plan and had no choice but to postpone it, agreeing to meet the next day. They’d bring Duan Wei along too—after all, three women make a stage, or rather, three heads are better than one.
At least it was better than struggling alone.
After happily deciding this, He Wen reluctantly hung up the phone.
“Why are you still here?”
After hanging up, He Wen turned and saw Feng Weijia, surprised.
…Feng Weijia was silent, feeling his fragile heart shatter.
“Wen Wen, why are you so heartless?”
Feng Weijia acted as if he were in deep sorrow, clutching his heart.
“Wen Wen?”
He Wen shuddered at the nickname, goosebumps rising, frowning in disgust. “Feng Weijia, can you act normal? What’s with ‘Wen Wen’? Can’t you speak like a normal person?”
For some reason, Feng Weijia had gone a bit crazy, calling He Wen “Wen Wen Wen,” which horrified her. She resolutely opposed it, but the more she resisted, the more he gleefully continued, letting her physically scold him.
No matter the pain, he endured it—this small suffering was nothing compared to the happiness to come. Every time He Wen disciplined him, Feng Weijia would sweetly comfort himself.
He Wen had grown numb to Feng Weijia calling her “Wen Wen.” Not numb? What else could she do? Feng Weijia was like a hard, foul-smelling rock—impervious!
Yet hearing “Wen Wen” still made her want to explode.
“Wha—? What kind of disgusting nickname is that?”
“It’s just to show our closeness, isn’t it? Calling you He Wen is too formal,” Feng Weijia protested.
“Get lost! I can’t communicate with a non-human!”
Their “conversation” ended with Feng Weijia’s calf once again bearing the brunt of He Wen’s ruthless attack.
