Su Ruo sobbed for a while, then finally managed to stop her tears.
Seeing this, Xi Yuechen finally breathed a sigh of relief. What Su Ruo didn’t know was that earlier, when she had been crying nonstop, Xi Yuechen had been anxious as if facing a formidable enemy.
Only Su Ruo could stir his heart with a single frown or smile. Otherwise, when had anyone else ever occupied a place in his eyes?
Su Ruo looked at Xi Yuechen’s stern and upright face, yet couldn’t help but break into a smile through her lingering tears. Though his expression remained icy, how could she not see the pain and tenderness in his eyes?
Pushing away Xi Yuechen’s hand, which was still resting on her face, Su Ruo wiped her cheeks haphazardly with a smile, then gazed at him with sparkling eyes.
Three months had passed, yet her commanding officer was still as handsome as ever. Even with a stoic face, he exuded charm; his presence still made her heart race.
Su Ruo felt deeply moved. She had no idea how Xi Yuechen had appeared here so suddenly, without even a word of greeting. Yet this unexpected arrival was an enormous surprise, leaving her flustered, while the joy and gratitude inside her nearly overflowed.
For a moment, the two of them simply stared at each other in silence—one moved, the other aching with concern. Warmth flowed subtly through the air.
Xi Yuechen looked at Su Ruo’s bright eyes fixed on him. That face, the one he had longed for day and night, now radiated pure joy, stirring his heart.
But she had just been crying, and faint traces still lingered on her face.
Seeing the slight redness at the corners of her eyes, Xi Yuechen’s heart twinged again. He reached out to touch her, but before his fingers could meet her skin, Su Ruo did something that left him stunned and stiff.
Su Ruo gazed at his handsome face with a daze—how could he look so captivating? Her commanding officer seemed even more handsome than before.
Smelling Xi Yuechen’s unique scent, her heart beat faster against her will, especially seeing the tenderness in his eyes. Her cheeks quietly flushed.
Why did her mouth feel suddenly dry? she wondered, realizing it had been a long time since she’d been intimate with him. Her heart fluttered even more at the thought, and looking at his chiseled face, she felt the very air was charged with desire.
Had she been abstinent for too long?
Seeing Xi Yuechen increasingly magnetic, she felt she had to act, or else it would be unfair to her racing heart—and to her identity as a wife, now relishing the thrill of a newlywed reunion.
Without overthinking, Su Ruo followed the call of her heart. Eyes closed, she leaned forward and kissed Xi Yuechen.
…This was something Xi Yuechen never expected. When her soft lips met his, he froze instinctively, his body stiffening as his mind went blank.
Sure, they had been intimate before—but a kiss alone shouldn’t unbalance the ever-composed Xi Yuechen. Yet Su Ruo’s sudden move, after such a long separation, was enough to catch him off guard.
So, our usually wise and brave Colonel Xi simply went dumbfounded.
But his stiffness lasted only a second or two. Soon, the passionate reality drew him back.
Su Ruo, after a brief moment of satisfaction, began to stir again.
Kissing shouldn’t just be a mere brush of lips! After being apart from her commander for so long, even a single kiss couldn’t be so restrained.
She parted her lips slightly, daringly tracing Xi Yuechen’s firm lips with her tongue.
Every sensation on their lips multiplied a thousandfold. Her warm breath seemed to flow into him, her slippery tongue grazing his heart, stirring even his soul.
She brazenly continued, daringly exploring inside his closed lips.
If Xi Yuechen didn’t react now, he would hardly be a man.
He changed his hand from reaching for her eyes to cupping the back of her head, pressing her close. His tightly pursed lips opened in response.
Naturally, the initiative shifted firmly back to Xi Yuechen.
The air filled with the sounds of their entwined lips—tangled, passionate.
In a haze, time passed. Su Ruo felt almost suffocated. Xi Yuechen, seemingly overwhelmed by desire, was fierce and unrelenting. She had lost all control the moment he regained the initiative, moving only to his rhythm.
But Xi Yuechen seemed out of his mind, giving her no chance to catch her breath. Soon, Su Ruo could no longer hold on.
She had only wanted a gentle moment to express the longing of these days—but why the storm?
Dizzy and overwhelmed, her mind flashed a single thought: push him away. She began patting his chest, struggling to end this “battle” of a kiss.
Indeed, this was her own doing. Had she not provoked Xi Yuechen, she wouldn’t be in such a mess.
Her commanding officer had also been abstinent for a long time. This sudden encounter—thunder meeting fire—was unstoppable. Even the restraint shown during just a kiss was remarkable, so a bit of intensity was understandable.
Feeling her struggle, Xi Yuechen was finally brought back to reason. Seeing her flushed cheeks, his heart skipped, and he immediately released her, ending the kiss.
Su Ruo finally drew in fresh air, panting, weak but still unsatisfied. Wasn’t it just a kiss? Why nearly suffocate her?
Stupid soldier, she thought, as if conquering the battlefield! What a brute!
Su Ruo, spoiled by Xi Yuechen, wouldn’t hold back when angry. She glared at him with dissatisfaction, silently accusing his brutality.
Though outwardly calm, Xi Yuechen was the type to suppress his feelings. Inside, waves of desire surged, and restraining himself was exhausting.
It was natural to react after so long apart. Even though it was a reunion, Xi Yuechen, a steadfast colonel, still couldn’t indulge in more, especially with his mother-in-law and brother-in-law waiting outside.
Su Ruo didn’t understand. Her eyes, sparkling with unshed tears, fixed on Xi Yuechen. Even with her flushed, tear-streaked face, her gaze appeared more tender than fierce.
Her glance fueled his fire further, intensifying his desire.
Unaware, Su Ruo lowered her head, panting, ignoring him. Poor Colonel Xi, restless and desperate, could only restrain himself.
Once her breathing steadied, she lifted her head to look at him. Xi Yuechen had mostly regained control of his primal impulse—at least outwardly.
“Commander, what are you doing here?” Su Ruo asked, tilting her head curiously.
He shouldn’t have appeared at this time.
“I missed you.”
Xi Yuechen said softly, his voice husky, his gaze fixed on her face, burning hot.
Su Ruo’s newly calmed face immediately flushed again, disbelief and astonishment written all over her.
Who said Xi Yuechen was a thousand-year-old block of wood? Who said he was an unromantic iceberg? Love words came naturally from him now.
Blushing, Su Ruo couldn’t meet his gaze. His eyes were so fiery, she felt her cheeks could burn.
I missed you… those words spun endlessly in her heart. When had her commander grown so expressive, able to speak such tender words?
Today’s surprises kept coming. Su Ruo felt dizzy, as if dreaming—her commander, once stoic, now softly whispering love words to her.
Su Ruo, easily satisfied, felt completely swept away by Xi Yuechen’s sudden arrival and a simple, “I missed you.” All complaints and grievances vanished; only Xi Yuechen remained in her heart and eyes.
“I missed you too.”
Her throat tight, eyes wet, Su Ruo realized she truly adored this man—willingly, wholly, and without reservation. Unknowingly, he had taken over her life, powerful and domineering.
Thinking of him while eating.
Thinking of him while sleeping.
Thinking of him while dazing.
Thinking of him while bored.
Thinking of him even while watching the child.
In short, Xi Yuechen had become an indispensable part of Su Ruo’s life, growing more so by the day.
“I missed you so much.”
Su Ruo couldn’t hold back tears, seeing Xi Yuechen after so long. She laughed and cried, then finally buried herself in his chest, forcing back the tears threatening to spill.
