RMM -Chapter 165 The Uninvited Guest – Part 2

With Xi Yuechen’s assurance, Long Ge finally smiled in satisfaction, no longer pressing further.

After all, this was Cheng Yue’s own matter—why meddle? There was nothing he could do to help anyway. As long as nothing unexpected happened, Cheng Yue handling things personally was enough. If he said it was fine, then it truly was fine.

So Long Ge didn’t pay much attention to this little incident and quickly forgot about it.

Xi Yuechen noticed that Long Ge finally understood not to say more. His eyes softened slightly, though a subtle, hard-to-detect displeasure still lingered deep within.

Why had Xi Yuechen suddenly become unhappy, even unable to hide it? There was only one person to blame: Long Ge.

Everything had been fine until Long Ge arbitrarily sat in the front passenger seat. Xi Yuechen’s passenger seat, aside from Su Ruo, had never been occupied by anyone else—not even family, let alone someone from the military. Over time, Xi Yuechen had developed a subconscious belief that his passenger seat belonged solely to Su Ruo.

These past few days, Xi Yuechen’s mind had been preoccupied with Su Ruo, and his emotions sometimes became abnormal, stirred by his little woman and the baby.

Long Ge, unaware, casually took the passenger seat, inadvertently “stepping on a landmine.” Xi Yuechen felt his territory had been violated. All the emotions Su Ruo had built up over these days poured out at once, his face darkened, startling Long Ge. In the end, Xi Yuechen had to fabricate a baseless story to ease Long Ge’s confusion.

It was such a trivial matter, yet for Xi Yuechen it had escalated like this. Even now, he still felt uncomfortable, but he couldn’t just make Long Ge leave, so he endured silently.

Tsk tsk. Looking at it this way, our icy-cold Colonel Xi could turn dark over such a small matter. Is it because he has a strong sense of territory? Or… despite appearing cold, is he secretly a bit repressed and passionate inside?

The small incident quickly passed. The car stopped in front of the designated hotel. Long Ge didn’t wait for Xi Yuechen to open the door and got out first.

Xi Yuechen, having composed himself, restored his usual calm and followed, though before stepping out, he cast a glance at the now-empty passenger seat and let out a soft hum.

As they entered a room, a few people were already there. Seeing Long Ge bring Xi Yuechen, they were momentarily taken aback.

“Hey, who is this? Oh, it’s Cheng Yue! Long time no see,” said a middle-aged man, recovering first and smiling. “Ah Long, you really care for this kid, even bringing him here.”

Though smiling, his words carried a clear undertone of displeasure. It was obvious he wasn’t entirely comfortable with Long Ge’s unilateral decision to bring Xi Yuechen here.

Xi Yuechen and Long Ge both looked at the speaker. His brows lifted slightly, eyes showing some annoyance, but his face remained composed. He still respected his years of brotherhood with Long Ge and didn’t want to make things awkward.

Xi Yuechen recognized him—he had met him twice before. His name was Wu Changxiao, an “old retainer” who had once followed Bai Xiong with Long Ge. Now he was part of Yanmen, holding a position far higher than Long Ge.

Hearing Wu Changxiao’s words, Long Ge became displeased. He snorted, turned to Xi Yuechen, and said, “Follow me.” They walked inside, and Long Ge sat on a nearby sofa. He then looked at Wu Changxiao with a smile: “Cheng Yue is my little brother. I brought him out today to see the world. Wu Ge, you’re not happy?”

Wu Changxiao smiled, not taking offense. “Of course not. Ah Long has worked hard; bringing someone to a gathering is natural. But… I just worry that when the Big Brother arrives, he might not be pleased seeing an extra person here after a long journey.”

Xi Yuechen remained silent, smiling modestly, unshaken by praise or slight. Those nearby secretly nodded in approval.

What could Xi Yuechen say? This was a matter among Yanmen’s “brothers.” At most, he was an outsider brought by Long Ge to try his luck. He hadn’t yet truly entered Bai Xiong’s notice, and even if he had, he wouldn’t be presumptuous in front of these people. He knew how to maintain appearances.

Hearing Wu Changxiao, Long Ge hesitated and didn’t argue further. He snorted, choosing silence. After all, he had broken precedent; no one had ever brought an outsider before. Insisting too much would have made him look unreasonable.

The silent onlookers laughed, saying, “We’re all brothers, no need to be so formal. Ah Long brought someone to liven things up.”

Seeing this, Long Ge smiled too. “Yes, I think Cheng Yue is promising, so I wanted him to see more of the world. Whether he succeeds depends on him.”

Everyone here was sharp; any slight change was noticed. With Long Ge speaking so bluntly, who wouldn’t understand?

They exchanged subtle glances, secretly sighing. Zhang Long was daring indeed. Even if he favored Cheng Yue, rushing him here could offend the Big Brother and backfire, jeopardizing Cheng Yue’s future.

Yet everyone understood Long Ge’s intentions. They had risked everything with the Big Brother from the beginning, and now all had promising futures—except Ah Long. Though he managed a group of low-level subordinates, it wasn’t much.

It wasn’t favoritism. Ah Long simply lacked capability. In the past, he led in battles and gained attention. Now, things had changed; strategy mattered, and Ah Long couldn’t keep up. What else could be done? Without skill, you couldn’t force it.

So the Big Brother, considering old ties, didn’t abandon him, assigning him to a low-level position where mistakes didn’t matter. But seeing his peers prosper while he struggled naturally caused resentment. Everyone understood, so they still treated Long Ge well and were willing to help, though they were surprised he acted so recklessly this time.

Unable to rise himself, Ah Long tried to help his little brother advance—was this clever or foolish? If the little brother earned the Big Brother’s trust and remembered Ah Long, fine. But if ungrateful, Ah Long would be helpless.

Reactions varied: some worried, some watched coldly, some waited to gloat. Time had dulled the camaraderie of shared hardships; self-interest now prevailed.

Xi Yuechen observed and understood the situation, sneering inwardly. How long could Yanmen last? Hearts had long been corrupted by greed.

“I apologize for my intrusion. I hope all the brothers will forgive me,” Xi Yuechen said loudly, finally drawing everyone’s attention.

Wu Changxiao wanted to mock him—intruding and still apologizing? But he restrained himself out of respect for Long Ge. After all, the final say rested with the Big Brother.

Seeing Xi Yuechen speak, a man nearby immediately said, “No need for formalities. Come, while the Big Brother hasn’t arrived, let’s chat. Ah Long is clearly impressed with you—I want to see what you’re capable of, haha.”

His words weren’t offensive, and the room became lively. Everyone wanted to test Cheng Yue’s skills.

Long Ge finally showed a satisfied smile, unconcerned about Xi Yuechen handling it. With his abilities, he had no worries.

Gradually, more people arrived—Yanmen’s old retainers, some Xi Yuechen had met, some new.

Seeing the sudden addition of one person, they were surprised, secretly thinking Zhang Long was reckless.

For Xi Yuechen, however, this recklessness worked perfectly, providing opportunities he would have had to create himself.

Regardless of familiarity, Xi Yuechen performed impeccably, quickly winning favor. People laughed, teasing Long Ge, praising him for choosing a promising little brother.

When Bai Xiong arrived at the hotel, the room was already lively. Some conversed with Xi Yuechen; others laughed with friends.

The hotel manager, perceptive, pushed open the door, and the commotion greeted Bai Xiong instantly.

Smiling slightly, Bai Xiong seemed pleased. Perhaps long accustomed to power, or simply older now, he enjoyed seeing his brothers in harmony.

At the door, everyone turned, stood, and respectfully greeted, “Big Brother.”

Bai Xiong nodded with a smile, then quickly noticed something amiss in the room. In a single glance, he identified the source.

How was he here?

His sharp gaze fixed on Xi Yuechen, a faint, knowing smile on his face—neither angry nor forgiving, exuding authority.
