QTIMP -Chapter 58 Character Persona – Lazy (Part 6)

Quick Transmigration: I Must Maintain My Persona 7 min read 58 of 138 22

Just as she stopped at the doorway, the door was pushed wide open. Standing there was a man about 1.85 meters tall, with phoenix-like eyes, a high straight nose, and a smooth jawline.

He wore a long uniform in military yellow, with an apron tied over it. The moment he saw Si Qiu, a smile spread across his face, giving him a slightly roguish charm.

“Yo, my little beauty is back.”

Si Qiu leapt straight into his arms. “Brother Lu, I missed you so much.”

Lu Hongjun, holding the door with one hand and a spatula in the other, stepped back a bit from her sudden embrace, but his strong physique kept him steady.

Si Qiu wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing against his chest, enjoying this blooming flower in full splendor.

“You missed me, or was it missing someone like me to take care of you?” His words carried a hint of complaint, yet his eyes and smile were full of warmth.

“Brother Lu, many people could take care of me, but I only let you. Doesn’t that show how much I love you?”

Lu Hongjun pinched her nose. “Always full of sweet talk.”

Sweet words are lovely if you like them; if not, they’re just manipulative.

Si Qiu thought that Qin Bei from her previous life was a hopeless romantic, while Lu Hongjun this time was a bit more clear-headed—but she was determined to train him into a proper hopeless romantic.

He had the potential for it.

“Ahem, ahem, ahem…Enough, you two. Not bad, on this floor it’s just our two families—otherwise, imagine someone laughing at you both.”

Lu Hongjun felt slightly embarrassed at Lu Hongqi’s remark and scratched his nose. Si Qiu didn’t mind, but she knew he tended to be reserved, so she quickly let go of him.

Si Lai gripped the garlic cloves hard, her fingertips turning white. What a little temptress—always luring people in.

Lu Hongjun himself was a bit lustful. In the previous life, although he didn’t look like a proper family man, he was strict when he was with her. This life, though, lured by a little fox, he seemed lost in every direction.

“I just got back and happened to bring a piece of meat, so I called Hongqi and his wife over. We’ll make dumplings together, as a way to thank them for taking care of you.”

Lu Hongjun closed the door properly, handed the spatula to Lu Hongqi, and took the bag from Si Qiu, organizing its contents.

In the process, he even kicked her slippers toward her.

Si Qiu looked up—the room had clearly been deeply cleaned, almost like a purification aura had been activated; it was brighter than before.

Seeing Si Qiu head to the bathroom to wash her face, Lu Hongjun leaned against the doorframe with a towel, waiting.

“I brought you a gift—later you can take a look and share some with the second couple. Mom also sent some packages to both our families; I’ve put them in our bedroom.”

After washing her face, Si Qiu didn’t take the towel but raised her face with her hands. Lu Hongjun gently wiped her face with the towel. “You!”

His expression was full of indulgence and affection.

“Are there any packages from my mom’s side?”

“Not yet. The distances are different; they might arrive a few days later.”

“Come on, you two, enough talking—if you want to chat tonight, do it later. Now come and help with the dumplings!” Lu Hongqi’s loud voice rang out, making Lu Hongjun narrow his eyes slightly.

Si Qiu knew he was a little petty—she needed to find a chance to teach his twin brother a lesson.

She didn’t care about any of that and strolled over to the dining table, sitting down as three people came and went.

Si Lai was completely distracted during this meal, watching Lu Hongjun pick the dumplings that had cooled in water and give them to Si Qiu. In the cold dishes, everything she liked was picked out and placed in her bowl.

It was almost as if he was worried she’d get tired chewing and wanted to chew for her.

She kept cursing in her mind, feeling her temper flare, while the two brothers kept glancing at her. Lu Hongqi kept serving her more dishes without pause.

Yet Si Qiu seemed completely oblivious, enjoying being waited on. Normally she would be the last to sit at the table, but today she was the first.

After the meal, she rinsed her mouth with water and went straight back to their bedroom to unpack the parcels.

Lu Hongjun didn’t ask the couple to help clean up; he simply took the items Si Qiu had prepared and sent the two of them off.

He rolled up his sleeves and began tidying up himself.

After Si Qiu finished organizing Lu Hongjun’s package, she started opening the parcel sent by her mother-in-law. As soon as she opened it, a bulging envelope fell out.

Si Qiu emptied its contents and sifted through them with her hands—about 500 yuan in cash. There were all sorts of receipts, and most importantly, a voucher for a wristwatch.

Then came other items: edible things like chocolate, milk powder, beef jerky, and sugar cubes; clothing items included two pieces of cloth for pants, two shirts, and a pair of plastic sandals.

Si Qiu picked up the letter her mother-in-law had written and read it.

Lu Hongjun came in and saw her reading it, asking, “What did Mom say?”

Si Qiu handed him the letter, but he didn’t take it. Instead, he sat behind her, scooped her onto his lap, resting his chin on her shoulder, then wrapped his arms around her and picked up the letter.

The letter was simple: it praised the items she had sent, offered financial support for her purchase of ginseng, and mentioned that she could buy older ginseng to keep at home for emergencies, since Grandpa Lu was getting older. If money wasn’t enough, she could write another letter or call.

It also mentioned that they had wanted to send more food, but many items might spoil on the way. The clothes sent were all good quality, and one of the shirts belonged to Lu Hongjun.

The letter also listed what had been sent to the second son’s family: two shirts, two pieces of cloth, a can of malted milk, and a bag of milk powder.

No extra money or vouchers had been sent.

As Lu Hongjun tidied up the bed, he said, “See how good Mom is to you?”

Si Qiu coquettishly replied, “Of course! My mother-in-law and I are the best in the world. She said the seafood I mailed last time was well received at home. Tomorrow morning, get up early and go to the dock to notify the Teng family, who supply us with dried goods, to prepare some top-quality dried goods to be sent over. I’ll mail them to my mother-in-law. According to the letter, a lot of what I sent last time ended up with Grandpa, and Dad shared some with his comrades, so the couple barely got a bite.”

“All right, I’ll listen to my beautiful wife,” Lu Hongjun said as he pounced on her after putting everything away.

Si Qiu quickly made a request, “Since you’re listening to me, find me some pocket money!”

Lu Hongjun said nothing and simply covered her mouth. It wasn’t that he was stingy—the key was, if she got pocket money, she might quit her job tomorrow.

If she were allowed to stay cooped up indoors all day, even a good person would get suffocated. Thinking of this, he decided he would deposit the 500 yuan tomorrow or hide it.

Si Qiu knew he didn’t agree, so she pretended to resist, flailing around.

“General, let me go! I may admire you for guarding the nation’s borders, but I have a husband. As a fellow official of the court, what you’re doing is rather improper!”
