PD -Chapter 20 The Voodoo Formation

“Could it be that Boss Zhu offended a foreign sorcerer?” I could already sense how complicated this matter was becoming, but there was no time to worry about that right now.

Forming a hand seal with spiritual power, I slowly recited the Land-Pacifying Incantation:

“By the decree of the Primordial Origin, all spirits are hereby pacified. The altars of earth and grain to the left and right shall not be disturbed.”

A golden talisman took shape in the air before me. With a flick of my hand, I sent it toward the center of the voodoo formation.

The Land-Pacifying Incantation emitted an earthy yellow glow within the formation, drawing out the black, sinister spiritual energy hidden inside. It then exploded like a firework, scattering the Yin energy into the sunlight where it vanished completely.

The seven-pointed star array buried beneath the soil disappeared as well, leaving only the blood-red bundle lying alone in the pit.

I walked over and carefully opened the package.

Inside was a collection of strange objects.

The first thing I saw was a pile of small bones. Judging from their size and structure, they likely belonged to a cat or rabbit. Mixed in with them were dried plants that resembled traditional Chinese medicinal herbs…

Yet all of it emitted a bizarre fishy stench.

Among the dried grass was a glossy black crystal sphere no larger than the tip of a thumb.

Despite its size, I could clearly sense waves of extremely dense Yin energy radiating from it.

Frowning, I picked up the bead and felt the cold, malevolent aura seeping from it. Almost instantly, my mind began to be affected, and my temper grew noticeably more violent.

Startled, I quickly circulated the spiritual power within my body to suppress its influence.

This thing was astonishingly similar to my Extreme Yin Ancient Jade.

Regaining my composure, I attached a Spirit-Trapping Talisman to the bead, slipped it into my pocket, and instructed Liu Xiaopeng and Uncle Tian to restore the lawn.

Meanwhile, I headed upstairs to find Tang Shanshan and Zhu Zhu.

Inside Zhu Shengxing’s bedroom, Tang Shanshan and Zhu Zhu sat beside the bed while Zhu Shengxing appeared to still be asleep.

“Thank you so much!” Zhu Zhu said tearfully as she grabbed my hand.

The gesture left me somewhat embarrassed.

Chuckling awkwardly, I glanced at Tang Shanshan, who deliberately rolled her eyes at me, before gently withdrawing my hand.

“The voodoo formation and that voodoo bundle were the main culprits disrupting your family’s energy field. I’ve already destroyed them, and they can no longer function.”

I paused before continuing.

“However… this matter isn’t over yet.”

“You don’t need to involve yourself any further.”

Zhu Shengxing suddenly opened his eyes and coldly spat out the words.

“I’ll find out who did this through my own channels. Zhu’er, pay them in full and see them out.”

“But… Dad…”

Zhu Zhu helped him sit up, wanting to say something, yet the sight of his increasingly haggard and aged face prevented her from speaking.

I wasn’t particularly bothered by his attitude.

Rich people often assume that everyone approaching them is after their money. Arrogance and emotional distance came naturally to many of them.

As for what kind of powerful individual the Zhu family had offended—someone capable of sneaking into their backyard and setting up such a sinister voodoo formation—

If Zhu Shengxing didn’t want me to know, I certainly wasn’t interested in wasting my time on the matter.

But there was one issue involving him that I absolutely could not tolerate.

“President Zhu, where is the Soul-Nourishing Altar?” I asked, staring directly into his eyes.

“What did you say?!”

Clearly, he had never expected that question. Shock and anger filled his gaze.

“President Zhu, this kind of dark art harms others without truly benefiting yourself. I hope you aren’t blinded by short-term gains. You know exactly what I’m talking about.”

I continued staring at him, refusing to yield an inch.

“You… get out of my house!”

The fear in his eyes was gradually overtaken by fury. Struggling to his feet, he pointed at my nose and cursed.

“What are you doing, you damn Taoist?” Tang Shanshan hurried over and grabbed me. Though she had no idea what was happening, she tried to pull me outside.

“President Zhu, stop clinging to your obsession. That thing you’re raising has long since slipped out of your control.”

I pushed Tang Shanshan aside and continued confronting him.

“The disturbances in your house aren’t solely because someone planted that voodoo formation.

The formation merely altered the feng shui and atmosphere of your home, increasing the likelihood of Yin spirits and malevolent entities forming.

It would slowly affect your family’s fortune without anyone noticing, but it could never create chaos on this scale.”

I paused.

“On the other hand, that thing you’ve been raising exploited the power of the voodoo formation in order to break free from your control. It’s the real culprit behind nearly every mask in your collection turning into evil spirits.”

As I explained everything, Zhu Shengxing gradually shifted from anger to silence.

Exhaustion and despair slowly appeared on his face.

Seeing his defenses crumble, I pressed forward.

“It’s already beginning to devour you. Sooner or later, it will consume your fate entirely. Are you really willing to ignore even your daughter?”

I glared at the nearly withered middle-aged man.

“You should know that its destiny is connected to your bloodline. If you continue hiding it within the Zhu household, your entire family will never know peace!”

“Qiu… what are you talking about?”

The more she listened, the more frightened Zhu Zhu became.

She looked at me, then at her father.

“Dad… what exactly did you do?”

Faced with his daughter’s questioning, Zhu Shengxing finally let out a long sigh and collapsed weakly onto the bed.

“It’s in the secret room behind the north wall of the collection room.”

His voice was barely above a whisper.

After speaking, he closed his eyes and refused to say another word.

I sighed and brought Uncle Tian and Liu Xiaopeng back to the collection room.

After searching carefully, I found a hidden mechanism concealed behind one of the masks mounted on the wall.

The moment I pressed it, the entire northern wall slid sideways, revealing a concealed doorway.

Tang Shanshan and Zhu Zhu had followed us inside.

When they saw the secret entrance, even Zhu Zhu looked stunned. She admitted she had never known her father had built a hidden chamber here.

Using my phone’s flashlight, I illuminated the darkness beyond the doorway.

I instructed Tang Shanshan and Zhu Zhu to stay outside.

Only Liu Xiaopeng accompanied me into the gloomy passage.

The corridor wasn’t long.

Fortunately, I soon found a light switch mounted on the wall.

Although the place was drenched in Yin energy, having proper lighting certainly made things easier.

We quickly crossed the passage and entered the hidden chamber.

To my surprise, the room was lavishly furnished.

Rosewood furniture filled the space, and at the very back stood a massive ceremonial vat enshrined like an offering.

It was both conspicuous and unsettling.

I slightly circulated my spiritual power, gathering it between my brows and into my eyes.

This technique was commonly known as Opening the Heavenly Eye, allowing one to perceive things invisible to ordinary people.

The moment my Heavenly Eye opened, I saw an incredibly dense mass of black energy swirling inside the vat.

And mixed within that darkness was a strand of pale yellow energy.

That was Zhu Shengxing’s life fortune—the very force sustaining his life.
