Inside the formation, the Five Direction Ghost Emperor, who had originally gained the upper hand while battling the Nine Dragon Sons, was immediately forced back into a disadvantageous position. Once again, she was restrained by the nine colossal beasts.
Just as I was marveling at Liu Bowen’s overwhelming power, several gunshots rang out beside me.
Startled, I turned my head and saw that Shentu had somehow obtained the Black Jade Gun and fired two shots directly at Di Ting.
Although Di Ting was not injured, the sealing formations carried by the bullets trapped his body in midair.
“Di Ting, I don’t want to waste time fighting you anymore. Believe me or not, my only goal this time is to reclaim my complete primordial spirit. I have no intention of getting involved in any conflict.”
Shentu spoke coldly. Her figure flashed, and she rushed back to the edge of the grand formation. Black chains of spiritual energy shot out once more toward the Ghost Emperor within the formation and wrapped around her body.
Seeing this, Liu Xiaopeng—currently possessed by an immortal—instantly appeared beside Shentu. His Daoist robe fluttered as he struck her with a powerful palm.
The blow sent Shentu directly into the Nine Dragons Soul-Trapping Formation.
I saw it happen and wanted to stop it, but it was already too late.
The Black Jade Gun slipped from Shentu’s hand and fell. I immediately dashed forward and caught it.
“What are you doing?!” I shouted as I rushed in front of Liu Xiaopeng. “If their primordial spirits merge together, Tang Shanshan will never be able to come back!”
At this moment, Liu Xiaopeng’s eyes glowed with golden light. His expression was solemn and majestic as he frowned slightly and spoke in a thunderous voice:
“Ghost Emperor Shentu has brought chaos to the Three Realms. Today will be the day her soul is destroyed. I will not leave her even the slightest chance of survival. Boy, you’d better stay out of my way!”
His voice was cold and threatening.
Before the words had even finished echoing, Liu Xiaopeng vanished from before me and charged toward the formation with his sword.
Inside the formation, when the Ghost Emperor saw Shentu thrown in, she immediately attempted a counterattack. Struggling desperately against the restraints of the Nine Dragon Sons, she managed to free one arm.
Dark red spiritual chains extended from her palm like venomous snakes and shot toward Shentu.
Shentu steadied herself within the formation. Her black spiritual chains lashed out and tangled together with the Ghost Emperor’s crimson chains.
The two immediately began a direct contest of primordial spirit power.
The immortal-possessed Liu Xiaopeng moved with incredible speed, but a black figure suddenly blocked his path.
Focusing my gaze, I recognized him—it was Lucifer.
“The rifts between the Three Realms have already been opened. No matter how much you struggle, it’s useless. The Three Realms belong to the creatures of Hell now!”
Lucifer laughed maniacally, his face twisted with hysteria.
At that moment, endless hordes of terrifying demons and monstrous beasts poured out from the Hell Rift. They surged toward the mortal world and crossed through the rifts leading into the Heavenly Realm.
“Qiu Han!”
Suddenly, someone called my name.
Turning around, I realized it was Di Ting.
He was still struggling against the barrier created by Shentu’s Black Jade Gun and had transformed into an enormous divine beast.
“Quick! Use your gun to break this barrier! Otherwise, something catastrophic will happen to the Three Realms!”
His voice was urgent as his beastly eyes stared at me.
I bit my lip and hesitated for a moment before firing a shot at the barrier beside him.
The bullet instantly shattered the seal.
Freed at last, Di Ting’s body expanded dozens of times larger. He immediately moved to block one of the Hell Rifts and prevent the demonic beasts from pouring through.
“The matter of the Ghost Emperor must be handled by you. I have to close the rifts between the Three Realms!”
Di Ting’s booming voice echoed directly in my mind.
I stood there in a daze, watching everything unfold.
I felt like an ant caught inside a tornado.
Helpless.
Desolate.
Lost.
Those were the only words that could describe my feelings.
Originally, all I wanted was to rescue Tang Shanshan’s primordial spirit from the Ghost Emperor.
Who could have imagined that I would be dragged into this sudden war between gods and demons?
More importantly, this battle concerned the fate of the entire Three Realms.
Yet apart from us and Di Ting…
What were all the gods and Buddhas in the heavens doing?
Why wasn’t a single one of them descending to resolve this disaster?
“Is there really no one else in the Heavenly Realm handling this besides you?”
Unable to hold back any longer, I finally asked Di Ting the question that had been weighing on my mind.
“The gods are no longer the gods they once were. Now… we can only rely on ourselves.”
Di Ting let out a sigh, lowering his massive head slightly.
I still didn’t understand what he meant.
But the situation left no room for further thought.
My attention returned to the Ghost Emperor and Shentu.
At this moment, Liu Xiaopeng—possessed by an immortal—actually succeeded in cutting off Lucifer’s last remaining black wing with a single strike.
Lucifer spat out a mouthful of blood.
His body plummeted downward.
Then he transformed into a streak of black smoke and disappeared into the countless demonic creatures pouring from Hell.
It seemed he had decided to abandon his ally, the Ghost Emperor, and save himself.
I didn’t bother chasing after Lucifer.
I had to bring Tang Shanshan back!
I flashed to Liu Xiaopeng’s side and grabbed him, stopping him from charging toward the Ghost Emperor.
“Tang Shanshan is still trapped inside that body! I can’t let you attack her directly!”
Grabbing the sleeve of his Daoist robe, I spoke with absolute determination.
“You are the descendant of a respected lineage. Is this truly how the ancestors of the Qiu Family taught you?”
With a sweep of his sleeve, Liu Xiaopeng sent me flying dozens of feet away.
“For the sake of personal feelings, are you really willing to let her wreak havoc upon the Three Realms?”
Before the sentence ended, he had already rushed into the formation.
The Immortal-Slaying Sword erupted with brilliant golden light as he brought it crashing down upon Shentu’s shoulder.
After taking the strike, Shentu’s body wavered and dissolved into black smoke.
The Ghost Emperor immediately absorbed the smoke into her body.
My heart skipped a beat.
This was bad.
The Ghost Emperor had gained the advantage and had already absorbed Shentu.
Once their primordial spirits completed their fusion, everything would be over.
Without hesitation, I activated the Sword Spirit Incantation and charged into the formation as well.
I had to stop Liu Xiaopeng’s next strike against the Ghost Emperor.
Because the body he was attacking belonged to Tang Shanshan.
With a loud bang, the spiritual sword in my hand collided with the Immortal-Slaying Sword.
I managed to block the attack—but my spiritual sword shattered piece by piece in my hand.
At the same time, my arm suffered a tremendous impact.
I could feel that the bones in my right wrist had likely fractured.
Intense pain surged through me.
Gritting my teeth, I stood between Liu Xiaopeng and the Ghost Emperor.
A trace of blood lingered at the corner of the Ghost Emperor’s lips. Her eyes were closed, clearly focused inward as she wrestled with Shentu’s primordial spirit and attempted to fully absorb her.
“I advise you to move aside immediately. Otherwise, I will kill you together with her.”
Golden light flickered within Liu Xiaopeng’s eyes.
Yet the voice coming from him was no longer his own.
As he raised the Immortal-Slaying Sword again, the nine dragon-son totems within the Nine Dragons Soul-Trapping Formation suddenly vanished from their positions.
All of them transformed into streams of golden light and surged into the Immortal-Slaying Sword.
