PD -Chapter 108 Black Shadow General

“Brother Han!” Liu Xiaopeng called out from behind me, his voice trembling.

I turned back and saw that the golden protective glow around him was flickering on and off… and shrinking rapidly, especially around his feet.

Those insects… they were actually devouring his Golden Light Spell!

My heart jolted in shock. How was that even possible? The Golden Light Spell wasn’t a physical substance—how could insects consume spiritual energy?

Before I could even process it, I felt my own Golden Light beginning to shrink as well—only slightly stronger than his, but still being eroded.

I gritted my teeth and placed my hand on Liu Xiaopeng’s shoulder, pouring my spiritual energy into him to reinforce his Golden Light.

“Hurry!” I shouted.

I picked up the child of Uncle Li and rushed into the bathroom. Before Liu Xiaopeng’s protective light completely collapsed, the others also rushed in behind us.

I checked the bathroom door—it was a composite plastic and frosted-glass door…

But against the outside swarm of termites, it probably wouldn’t last long. Still, it would buy us a little time to think.

I looked at Liu Xiaopeng, who was wiping sweat from his forehead.

“Can you still hold on?” I asked.

He nodded.

After a moment of thought, I examined the layout of the bathroom and realized it was built under the staircase—surrounded by load-bearing walls.

That gave me a bold idea.

“For now, fire is the most effective thing against these insects,” I said, staring at the dense black shapes outside the frosted glass. “This door won’t hold much longer.”

“Brother Han, just say what you’re thinking,” Liu Xiaopeng replied.

I hesitated, then looked at Uncle Li and the others.

“Boss Li… this depends on whether you’re willing to let me burn down your sales office.”

“Burn it! Burn it!” Uncle Li said in a trembling voice. “As long as we survive, who cares about the building!”

I nodded and took out the talismans I carried with me, handing some to Liu Xiaopeng.

“When this door breaks, we’ll throw all the fire talismans out and create a massive fire array at the entrance.”

“The bathroom has water. We don’t need to worry too much about burning—just open all the taps and soak your clothes.”

Liu Xiaopeng nodded and stared at the trembling door.

BOOM!

The door finally gave way.

The insect army surged in—termites in the front line, with swarms of buzzing bees behind them filling the air.

The entire space was filled with a deafening hum.

“Burn it!” I shouted.

We ignited the talismans at the same time. Flames burst out instantly as we hurled them forward, forming a Seven-Star formation of fire at the doorway.

A wall of fire rose up.

Countless termites at the front were burned instantly, but the cockroaches behind them didn’t hesitate—they kept pushing forward, trying to smother the flames with their bodies like a tide.

We poured more spiritual energy into the formation, throwing out more talismans and forming six interconnected fire barriers.

The fire became uncontrollable.

The floor was charred. Buried electrical wires ignited. Tables, sofas, and equipment in the distance caught fire one after another.

In an instant, the entire sales office was engulfed in flames.

My eyes burned from the light. A wave of scorching heat hit us head-on.

I ordered everyone to turn on the water and keep dousing themselves to avoid being burned alive.

BOOM!

The outer glass walls shattered, and the second floor collapsed.

The fire successfully halted the insect advance—but it also trapped us inside a sea of flames.

Wave after wave of insects surged forward, but they couldn’t cross the fire barrier into the bathroom.

I stared at the countless black dots dying in the fire, still uneasy.

This could hold for a while—but not forever.

If the tide of insects didn’t retreat, we would eventually be trapped to death here.

Just then, Liu Xiaopeng suddenly shouted and pointed into the firelight.

I squinted—and saw a tall humanoid shadow walking toward us through the flames.

“Is there someone else in the sales office?” someone asked in confusion.

Uncle Li shook his head. “No one else is here tonight.”

Before he finished speaking, I already stood up.

“That’s not a person,” I said coldly.

Everyone turned to look again.

In the burning light, the scattered insects were gathering together—forming a single mass.

The humanoid figure wasn’t human at all.

It was made entirely of insects.

A terrifying monster.

It stepped through the flames and slowly advanced toward us.

“These insects already devoured our spiritual energy earlier… this time, we might not be able to stop it,” I said quietly.

Still, I refused to give up.

I ignited my remaining talismans with all my spiritual strength and hurled them at the black figure.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Explosions burst across its body, tearing holes into it—but it didn’t slow down.

The holes were quickly filled again as insects swarmed to repair it.

It kept approaching.

Where it walked, flames behind it began to extinguish.

It was like a general leading an army of insects straight toward us.

There was no longer any way to hold it back at the bathroom door.

I raised my hand and began forming the Spirit Sword Incantation, prepared to fight it to the death.

“Come out! Come out!” Liu Xiaopeng shouted.

Golden light erupted from his body, and demonic flames ignited in his hands—but his eyes remained tightly shut as he kept chanting.

I knew what he was trying to do.

He was attempting to awaken his bloodline power again—to summon the Nine Sons of the Dragon like before, and pull us out of this deadly situation.
