Although Shi Qian didn’t show any obvious signs of distress, the veterinarian uncle was still very worried about him.
Once the control leash was put on, Shi Qian immediately received a thorough full-body checkup.
His tail was fractured and misaligned.
There were multiple whip marks and stab wounds all over his body.
During the examination, the veterinarian kept cursing the circus staff under his breath. His voice gradually grew louder, then he realized he was too agitated and lowered it, worried it might make the little tiger restless. This cycle repeated several times.
Shi Qian: “Thanks for your hard work.”
It seemed that controlling himself was harder for the vet than treating Shi Qian.
As the only living member of the circus now, Merlin didn’t dare make a sound and watched with tears welling up in her eyes.
Deanna reached out, intending to cover Merlin’s eyes.
Merlin avoided her hand and shook her head: “Deanna, let me watch. I’ll need to take care of Tony’s injuries later.”
Hearing this, Shi Qian looked at Merlin, moved.
The little tiger’s blue eyes widened. On his still-not-fully-grown plush face, they looked big and obedient.
Even Deanna felt her heart soften. She patted Merlin on the shoulder and looked at the little tiger: “Let me do it.”
Shi Qian: “Roar roar.”
No one can resist us cats, even though I’m quite big.
The vet lightly tapped Shi Qian on the uninjured part of his butt: “Don’t move, Tony. Got it?”
Shi Qian obediently nodded: “Ow—”
Got it, got it.
He lay down properly, letting the vet treat his wounds.
Perhaps it was just a feeling, but Shi Qian sensed that the vet smelled different—there was a scent he liked.
Once the treatment was complete, Shi Qian was washed back to his original appearance—a handsome little white tiger.
The cost: many parts of his fur were shaved, revealing his naturally patterned “tattoos” on the skin.
There was also a small cross-shaped scar on his face.
But looking at his face, he was still handsome.
The injured part of his tail was bandaged and fixed. It felt uncomfortable, like a bell hanging from it—but the difference was, if he moved recklessly, the sound came from the bones.
Not daring to move, Shi Qian, under the vet’s guidance, interacted with Merlin and Deanna a bit, raising their affection for him before returning to the car’s rear compartment.
After swiping the card, Deanna’s done, but when Merlin saw the bill, her face changed.
“The hospital is terrifying!”
“It’s more expensive than expected,” Deanna reassured her. “But we only need to come back for one more checkup. Nothing serious.”
Merlin glanced at Deanna’s nearly empty wallet, eyes shifting: “Let’s hurry and get the stuff from Victor!”
With that, she grabbed Deanna and ran.
The animal hospital was neat and clean, the main building pure white, flanked by lush green lawns, stretching into the vast blue sky.
Young people running through such a scene were like a spring breeze.
Shi Qian watched, happy.
Being good-looking is great—even running feels like a scene from an idol drama. Pleasing to the eyes.
But strangely… why is Merlin… so clumsy?
Clumsiness often correlates with poverty. Merlin’s poverty indicated she wasn’t doing well in the industry.
In the booming entertainment world, fame equals money.
Moreover, Merlin seemed not very confident in her appearance.
The car drove again, returning to the place they visited last night—Victor’s residence.
Shi Qian saw Deanna and Merlin get out and kept his eyes on them.
Merlin leaned her delicate face close: “Tony, wait here. I’m going to get the things.”
Shi Qian: “Roar?”
Can you handle it?
Victor is a man, and Shi Qian worried about trouble; if anything happened, Merlin and Deanna could be at a disadvantage.
Until he locked eyes with Deanna holding a big wrench in her hand.
Shi Qian: ……
He nodded: “Ow.”
Go ahead.
Deanna smiled. Her green-tinged eyes were like a shallow mountain forest pool, her naturally fair skin radiant.
Shi Qian saw the stylish Deanna slip the wrench into her pocket and follow Merlin casually.
Shi Qian: Handsome.
After they left, he lay back in the car, turning to look at his thick tail.
Once healed, he could play with big cat tails.
Soon, Merlin came out with large bags of clothes and several boxes.
Of course, the rear compartment needed to be opened to store everything.
Shi Qian stood aside, helping Merlin push the boxes into place. The modified rear compartment wasn’t tall, so Merlin had to squat or bend to get inside.
She laughed: “Oh! You’re so obedient, my darling.”
Shi Qian asked: “Roar?”
Where’s Deanna?
At the same time, he stretched out his big paw, pointing in the direction Merlin came from.
Merlin guessed: “You’re asking about Deanna? She’s keeping an eye on Victor for me.”
The still-beautiful Merlin complained: “Victor’s getting uglier and uglier. His face is puffy like a balloon, huge bags under his eyes. I really don’t know what I saw in him before—must have been blind!”
She showed no sign of sadness over their breakup.
Shi Qian thought Merlin wouldn’t fool him and could only marvel: so being face-conscious has its perks!
He looked at himself, a bald tiger, and shyly took a step back.
Merlin hurriedly explained: “I’m criticizing Victor, not you, Tony.”
“You’re the most beautiful big cat I’ve ever seen! As handsome as Deanna!”
Shi Qian: “Roar roar—”
I’m a male tiger.
But why can’t a handsome woman’s ‘handsomeness’ count? He swallowed half his protest.
Since his objection wasn’t obvious, Merlin didn’t notice.
“I’ll keep moving things. Take care of your wounds, Tony.”
Merlin boldly patted the little tiger’s big white paw before leaving.
The vet said Tony was raised by her father, always close to humans, very affectionate.
She could get close to Tony to strengthen their bond, but also needed to be careful, reinforcing his good habits—like not scratching, playing gently, being obedient.
Merlin, a bit careless, didn’t close the car door properly.
Shi Qian, knowing he might scare people, lay obediently in the car, peeking outside through the gap.
Not long after, another familiar figure appeared—last night’s other heroine.
She brought along a tall, muscular Black man.
Shi Qian sensed a strong, aggressive aura—this wasn’t someone benign.
Worried about Merlin, he jumped out and followed the two at a safe distance, sniffing the air to make sure they weren’t carrying weapons.
The door was open. Shi Qian reached the entrance and could hear arguing inside: Victor ranting and shouting, Deanna occasionally telling him not to act foolish, interspersed with banging sounds.
The two went straight toward the commotion. Shi Qian dragged his injured tail, sneaking along.
Turning a corner in the corridor, he saw Deanna outside the door, the door vibrating.
“Who are you?” the woman shouted. “Victor!”
Inside, Victor heard her and slammed the door twice: “Anina, chase away this… hermaphrodite!”
Deanna turned, facing the man and woman: “I just want to help my friend take her things, to avoid his harassment. My friend is his girlfriend, Merlin. They broke up last night.”
Apparently, Deanna didn’t know who she was dealing with and thought it was just Victor’s normal friend.
Hearing the commotion, Merlin shouted: “Oh, in such a rush to claim the man I played with? He’s so ugly I don’t even like him. Your taste is terrible, loving a rotten, expired apple!”
The woman’s face showed displeasure. She gestured to the tall Black man behind her: “Go, handle them.”
“No problem.”
The Black man scanned Deanna and Merlin. Clenching his fists, he approached Deanna.
Given his size, dealing with Deanna looked easy. The woman approached Merlin, seeming equally able to handle the skinny girl.
Inside, Victor kept shouting: “Anina, hurry! Let me out!”
Shi Qian thought for a moment, then leaped at the Black man.
As he launched, his tail lifted involuntarily for balance. His speed didn’t slow, claws ready.
The first strike, with his weight, knocked the Black man down.
During the struggle, Shi Qian used multiple claws, hitting the opponent’s pressure points, then struck his neck.
The Black man struggled, then suddenly went still. His shouting ceased, and he collapsed unconscious.
Even without blood spraying, the woman who turned around saw the scene and screamed: “Ah! Tiger, the tiger killed him!”
Shi Qian: ……
I just knocked him out.
He’s not dead, definitely not dead.
Nanyin had explained—karate chops can knock people unconscious. As for the guy on the ground, Shi Qian could still hear his heartbeat. He’s alive.
Deanna, holding the wrench, blinked, retracting her fighting stance.
Shi Qian blinked: “Roar roar.”
I, Chinese Tagore, know a little martial arts—it’s normal.
Deanna didn’t understand, but she gave the little tiger a thumbs-up.

I really wonder if Merlin and Deanna will become a couple. Merlin needs someone as trustworthy as Deanna, otherwise, how will she survive?
Thanks
😮
