In Whale Harbor, someone actually dared to cause trouble for Su Miao?

Jiang Huashan felt a flicker of curiosity. Just as she was about to stand up, Fu Sui’er grabbed her. “Sit for a bit. Zhizhi and I will go take a look.”

Without another word, Shen Mianzhi put on her coat.

This was the Shen family’s territory, filled with elite young ladies at the very top of the social pyramid. With Fu Sui’er and Shen Mianzhi stepping in together, there was probably nothing they couldn’t handle. Thinking this, Jiang Huashan stretched lazily and sat back down.

Shen Mianzhi glanced at the manager. “Where is it?”

The manager immediately opened the door and led the way.

The entertainment area on the second floor consisted entirely of private rooms, with a curved bar set up in the lobby for guests to rest briefly. At this moment, the bar area was crowded with young men and women, clustered in separate groups—except for Su Miao, who stood alone.

“Miaomiao!” Fu Sui’er pushed through the crowd, her gaze sweeping over everyone as she unhesitatingly stepped in front of Su Miao.

Su Miao shook her head, signaling that she was fine.

Shen Mianzhi glanced around the crowd. “What’s going on?”

The manager lowered his voice. “Miss Gu’s family heirloom brooch has gone missing. Miss Hera happened to be nearby at the time. When Miss Gu asked a few questions, Miss Hera felt insulted and started arguing with her.”

Hera was an aristocratic exchange student from S Country, while Miss Gu was Gu Yuzhu, the fifth daughter of the newly prominent Gu family—and Shen Qingyu’s cousin.

Shen Mianzhi frowned. “What does this have to do with Miaomiao?”

The manager looked troubled. “The one causing trouble is the lady in the middle. She’s Miss Hera’s friend. She suddenly claimed her own family heirloom Buddha pendant was missing too, and had people surround everyone near the bar, saying they wanted to conduct body searches.”

Body searches?

Following the manager’s gaze, Shen Mianzhi looked over. The girl stood in the center, surrounded like stars around the moon. She had a hime-cut hairstyle and exquisitely delicate features.

“Let’s go.”

Fu Sui’er grabbed Su Miao and turned to leave, but several burly bodyguards stepped forward and blocked their path.

“What’s this supposed to mean? Looking for trouble?” Fu Sui’er sneered, turning her head toward the girl in the center.

The girl sized her up from head to toe, her attitude arrogant. She glanced at her fingertips and replied in fluent Hong Kong-accented speech, “The Buddha pendant is a family heirloom passed down from my grandmother. It means a great deal to me. I must find it. If you allow yourselves to be searched and prove your innocence, you can leave.”

“A body search? Who do you think you are?”

Gu Yuzhu and her group’s expressions darkened. If they were searched today and word got out, their reputations would be ruined. No matter what, they couldn’t swallow this humiliation. The girls were no pushovers either—they all took out their phones to call their families.

Seeing this, the girl only smiled and crooked her finger. “What are you waiting for? Get moving.”

This sentence was spoken in S language.

The bodyguards immediately moved forward to intercept them, snatching phones without regard for personal boundaries.

“Ah!! What are you doing?!!”

These young ladies were usually treated like treasures wherever they went—how had they ever faced something like this? They were terrified, their expressions changing drastically. In contrast, the group of girls led by the hime-cut girl laughed gleefully, even deliberately mocking them in Hong Kong speech.

“They’re right—girls from A Country really do scream a lot. Hahaha!”

Fu Sui’er clutched Su Miao’s arm. As a group of burly men closed in, a line of suited bodyguards suddenly appeared in the corridor. Shen Mianzhi walked through the crowd and locked eyes with the girl.

“Your Highness, please know when to stop. This is not the White Palace.”

“Oh?” Bai Dina looked at Shen Mianzhi with interest. “You know me?”

Because of Shen Mianzhi’s forceful intervention, Gu Yuzhu and the others narrowly avoided disaster. Upon hearing that the madwoman opposite them was actually a royal princess of S Country—one rumored to kill without blinking—they felt a chill run down their spines.

Back then, at just fourteen years old, Bai Dina had shot and killed twelve of her mother’s lovers. When the incident was exposed, it shocked the entire world. Gu Yuzhu might be spoiled and willful, but compared to the cruelty embedded in Bai Dina’s bones, she was nothing.

Shen Mianzhi’s expression remained calm. “Admission as an exchange student at the Military-Political Academy requires a moral evaluation. If Your Highness doesn’t consider the consequences, I’m afraid you’ll be sent back to your country before the term even begins.”

Bai Dina smiled, narrowing her eyes as she examined Shen Mianzhi. “What’s your name?”

“Shen Mianzhi.”

“Shen? From the Shen family?” She lowered her gaze, weighing it for a moment, then smiled. “Fine. You can go.”

Before coming, her grandmother and mother had specifically warned her to rein in her temper and not make enemies with the major aristocratic families of Country A. She had only just gotten the chance to come out and relax—she had no intention of going back so soon.

Gu Yuzhu and the others let out a sigh of relief, preparing to step aside. But Bai Dina pointed at them, her tone arrogant. “I said the Shen family. Are all of you surnamed Shen?”

Everyone’s expressions stiffened slightly. The major exams had just ended, and they had all snuck out without telling their families. Without bodyguards or even their phones, if they were really forced to undergo a search, they might as well smash their heads against a wall and be done with it.

Gu Yuzhu turned to look at Shen Mianzhi. The noble young ladies of Whale Harbor each had their own social circles. Because of Shen Qingyu’s mother, the Gu family wasn’t particularly close to the Shen family.

But now wasn’t the time to think about that.

Just as she was about to ask for help, Shen Mianzhi spoke first. “Your Highness, we have a saying in Country A: ‘Catch a thief with the stolen goods in hand.’ With no evidence, you’re trying to search us based on nothing but a claim—this won’t work in Country A.”

The smile in Bai Dina’s eyes faded a little. “So my belongings are just gone then? That was a gift from my grandmother.”

Gu Yuzhu couldn’t stand her domineering attitude and said coldly, “Call the police. Let them handle it.”

Once the police arrived, how things would be handled would still be up to them anyway.

But Bai Dina wasn’t so easily fooled. She said quietly, “If we can’t reach an agreement, then no one leaves.” As she spoke, she pulled out an exquisite silver pistol from her bag and aimed it at Shen Mianzhi.

Fu Sui’er’s expression changed. “What are you trying to do?”

Su Miao was also enraged by Bai Dina’s madness. She had been holding back only to avoid causing trouble for the Su family—but that didn’t mean she feared this lunatic.

The others turned pale with fright.

Bai Dina already had a notorious reputation, and as a member of the S Country royal family, she had been trained in shooting since childhood. The way she raised the gun was full of malicious intent.

“I gave you a chance.” She smiled as she cocked the gun, a faint bloodthirstiness in her eyes. “Don’t move. If any of you move, I can’t guarantee my hand won’t slip.”

Then she turned her head toward the bodyguards behind her. “What are you waiting for? Search them!”

That last sentence was spoken in her native language.

The bodyguards stepped forward, ready to act—

Suddenly!

The lights went out, plunging everything into complete darkness.

Someone in the crowd screamed, and figures began darting around in confusion.

Sensing danger, Bai Dina shouted for help in her native tongue—but the moment she opened her mouth, a foul-smelling wad of cloth was forcibly stuffed into it. Before she could react, a punch landed squarely on her face.

“Mmm! Mmm!”

She struggled desperately to tear off whatever was restraining her, but as countless blows rained down, all she could do was scream and wail.

For a moment, the darkness echoed with overlapping cries of pain, interspersed with curses in the language of S Country.

“Call the police! Quick—call the police! The S Country transfer student is killing people!”

Someone in the crowd suddenly shouted. The wailing paused for a second—then erupted even louder.

“Help! Murder! Murder!”

At the same time, the countdown ticked to three seconds past midnight.

“Three!”

“Two!”

“One!”

On the first floor, the bar suddenly exploded into cheers of victory. The deafening screams almost lifted the roof, completely drowning out the cries from the second floor.
