“Expel the family thief?”

Fang Mei was completely stunned by those four words.

“What did you say?” She even doubted for a moment that her ears were working correctly.

Jiang Huashan lifted her head and met Fang Mei’s gaze directly.

This was the first time since her return that she had ever truly responded to Fang Mei’s eyes.

“I said, I don’t need you anymore.”

Fang Mei’s expression froze in shock, quickly turning into resentment.

“You don’t need me anymore? Who was it that cried and begged me to come back, begged me to stay by your side? And now you’re saying you don’t need me? Why? Just because I gave your room to Yiyi? If I’d known you were this ungrateful, I never would’ve cared whether you lived or died!”

Jiang Huashan smiled faintly.

It was true that back then she had cried and begged Fang Mei for affection. And precisely because of that, she had learned something—things you beg for are the least reliable. So she never expected Fang Mei to change anything anymore.

Fang Mei had assumed that bringing up the past would make Jiang Huashan immediately apologize. But she didn’t. She was even mocking her.

“Sister!” Jiang Wanyi seized the moment and rushed into the room. “If you’re going to kick us out now, that’s ingratitude! If Grandpa Shen finds out how cruel you are, he might not even keep you anymore! No one likes an ungrateful wretch.”

The smile on Jiang Huashan’s lips faded instantly. She raised her brows slightly and, unusually, responded.

“You’re right. No one likes an ungrateful wretch.”

That same expression again. Jiang Wanyi had already noticed it—ever since Jiang Huashan’s conflict with Fu Sui’er last time, she had been looking at her like she was an idiot.

“Did I say something wrong? Do you think everyone is as brainless as you? My mother and I are your closest family. You’re willing to cling to the Shen family and abandon your own kin—how do you think outsiders will see you?”

Jiang Wanyi couldn’t stand that condescending look. Why did she get to act so superior? She was clearly the stupid one—so why did she look down on her?

What did outsiders think of her? Why should she care?

Jiang Huashan didn’t even bother arguing with this twelve-year-old fool. She turned to Zhang Ru instead.

“Nanny Zhang? Why haven’t you gone yet?”

Zhang Ru hadn’t expected things to escalate like this, but before coming, the Old Master had specifically instructed her to listen only to Miss Jiang. She nodded and turned to leave the embroidered building.

“Mom, don’t be angry. Actually, it might be better to let Grandpa come. Over the past three years, my sister has done so many ridiculous things that you’ve always covered up for her. Since she’s so ungrateful, there’s no need for us to hide anything anymore. When Grandpa arrives, we’ll say everything clearly—then we’ll see who the real joke is!”

In normal times, Shen Zhuang had always indulged them, so Jiang Wanyi genuinely didn’t believe that he would expel them just because of a single sentence from Jiang Huashan.

Fang Mei, though not as optimistic as Jiang Wanyi, agreed with one thing: over the past three years in the Shen residence, she had been extremely cautious and had maintained appearances perfectly. Jiang Huashan was still just a half-grown child. No matter how wise Old Master Shen was, he couldn’t possibly expel them just because of a child’s tantrum.

Thinking of this, the tension in her heart eased slightly.

Still, the performance had to continue. Fang Mei put on a deeply disappointed expression.

“Fine. Since I can’t control you anymore, let the Old Master judge for himself.”

Jiang Huashan didn’t have time to waste acting with them. She opened her phone and restarted a game of Snake.

Greedy snakes swallow elephants whole—Fang Mei was simply too greedy, so greedy that she couldn’t even recognize reality anymore.

When someone is favored, they never need to reason.

If Grandpa really came, it wouldn’t be to judge fairness at all.
