What Xiao Lanlan enjoyed most was trampling on Shen Mianzhi and seeing her not resist at all—it gave her an intense sense of sadistic satisfaction.
Zhou Yanheng watched the two confronting each other from across the crowd.
Guan He clicked his tongue. “Look at you, disaster magnet. Two sisters are about to fight over you, and you still have the mood to watch the show?”
Zhou Yanheng smiled faintly.
Guan He scanned the surroundings. “Brother Heng’s got some pull, huh? Look how many people showed up.” Suddenly, he paused and whistled. “Oh, the little loudspeaker is here too.”
Zhou Yanheng turned his gaze. Jiang Huashan and Fu Sui’er stood hand in hand among the crowd. Despite the sea of people, she stood out at a glance. He turned back and patted Guan He’s shoulder. “Hand things out.”
Guan He nodded, lazily clapping his hands. “Thanks for your hard work, everyone. Brother Heng is treating us to afternoon tea.”
The crowd immediately swarmed forward, showering Zhou Yanheng with flattery and praise.
Xiao Lanlan composed herself and ran up with a look of pleasant surprise. “Why are you here?”
Zhou Yanheng glanced at Shen Mianzhi with a faint smile. “What were you talking about just now?”
Xiao Lanlan shot Shen Mianzhi a glance. “I’ve quit sugar, so I don’t eat sweets. Zhizhi said she’d help me buy water.”
Shen Mianzhi didn’t want to explain. She lowered her head and prepared to leave.
Xiao Lanlan grabbed her. “Zhizhi, give me your backpack. Don’t tire yourself.”
She was clearly afraid Shen Mianzhi might run away midway.
Unwilling to get entangled with Xiao Lanlan—especially not in front of Zhou Yanheng—Shen Mianzhi silently took off her backpack and squeezed out of the crowd.
“The Shen family’s legitimate daughter is way too spineless, isn’t she?”
These extras were all young masters and ladies. Naturally, they looked down on Shen Mianzhi’s passive, non-confrontational attitude.
With her head lowered, Shen Mianzhi had just squeezed out of the crowd when something suddenly struck her. Her eyes sharpened, and she turned back, running toward them.
But it was already too late.
Xiao Lanlan handed her backpack to an assistant. The assistant’s hand suddenly slipped, pulling open the zipper. The documents inside were exposed to everyone.
“Psychological Evaluation Report”
“Whale and Neurological Disease Diagnosis Certificate”
“Oh! What’s this?” Xiao Lanlan cried out in feigned surprise.
Shen Mianzhi’s face turned deathly pale as she rushed into the crowd.
The crowd reacted, instinctively stepping back, looking at her with strange, wary expressions.
Shen Mianzhi froze in place.
At that moment, she felt like a small boat drifting in a violent storm. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t escape the fate of being swallowed by the abyss.
Xiao Lanlan picked up the documents from the ground, her face full of regret. “Zhizhi, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it. But how could you hide something this serious from your family?”
As long as the Zhou family found out Shen Mianzhi had a mental illness, Madam Zhou would definitely change her mind.
Her mother had told her to wait for the right moment—but she couldn’t wait any longer.
Xiao Lanlan looked at Zhou Yanheng pitifully. “What should I do? I really didn’t know.”
Zhou Yanheng’s eyes showed a hint of surprise as he looked at Shen Mianzhi thoughtfully.
“No way? The Shen family’s legitimate daughter has mental issues?”
“But her grades are excellent. She’s never seemed abnormal.”
“What do you know? It’s precisely because she’s sick that she has to pretend! The Shen family is terrifying—hiding something like this and letting us study with a lunatic!”
Voices of discussion surged from all directions, dense and suffocating, as if they wouldn’t rest until they tore her apart.
“Make way.”
At that moment, someone stepped into the crowd and snatched the two documents from Xiao Lanlan’s hand.
“I was wondering why my eyelid’s been twitching since morning. Turns out it sensed bad luck today.”
Hearing that voice, Xiao Lanlan’s scalp tingled. When she looked up, Jiang Huashan was already standing in front of her.
“….” Though she claimed not to be afraid, her body instinctively took a step back.
“Jiang Huashan, what do you mean?”
Jiang Huashan scoffed. “You’re so stupid I can’t even be bothered to deal with you.” She then sized Zhou Yanheng up and down.
Zhou Yanheng was about to speak, but she turned away with a look of disdain, addressing the crowd instead. “What? Don’t you all have anything better to do? Our Shen family has hundreds of mines in South Africa. If you’re that bored, I can charter a plane and send you there to dig.”
“Pfft!” Guan He couldn’t hold back his laughter.
This little loudspeaker was really something—threatening the entire upper class by herself.
Whenever there was conflict, Fu Xiaoxiao would appear like she smelled it in the air. Seeing everyone intimidated by Jiang Huashan’s presence, she planted her hands on her hips and fired back, “Stop putting on airs! Who do you think you are? You think your Shen family is that impressive? You owe us an explanation! You let a lunatic study and live with us for so long—we won’t let this go!”
Fu Xiaoxiao’s words gained quite a bit of silent agreement. Though many didn’t dare to say it out loud, they thought the same.
Could the Shen family really stand against public outrage alone?
Jiang Huashan nodded and pointed at Fu Xiaoxiao’s nose. “So you’re picking a fight with me?”
Before Fu Xiaoxiao could react, Shen Mianzhi had somehow walked up beside Jiang Huashan, tugging at her sleeve. “You should go.”
Seeing this, Fu Xiaoxiao grew even more aggressive, lifting her chin. “She’s sick and you’re still standing so close to her? Aren’t you afraid of catching it?”
Jiang Huashan shrugged off her backpack, unzipped it, and pulled out two stacks of documents, flinging them straight at Fu Xiaoxiao’s face.
“Sorry! Severe mental disorder patient—have a look.”
“Oh, right—parentheses: antisocial personality disorder.”
“Do you know what antisocial personality disorder is? I could disembowel you without even changing my expression.”
