The South Bay ferry terminal bombing quickly spread across Country A and became a hot topic everywhere, generating massive discussion no matter where one went.
Yucai School was no exception. Students in the Elite Class had heard bits and pieces of the incident and treated it as casual conversation. Some said it was revenge by fugitive bandits on the run, others claimed it was an internal conflict between local powers, “black eating black,” and some even escalated it into criticism of the local government in South Bay.
Rumors grew more and more exaggerated—before long, all kinds of versions were circulating.
“Miaomiao, what do you think about what happened in South Bay?”
Su Miao had been listless for three straight days. No matter how many times Zhou Qishan tried to talk to her, she barely responded.
“Miaomiao, what’s wrong? You’ve been distracted all week.”
Su Miao sighed inwardly. The test results were about to come out, and Jiang Huashan had suddenly disappeared without a trace. Where was she supposed to find a scapegoat now?
She waved her hand weakly, her voice light as a ghost’s whisper. “I’m fine.”
Zhou Qishan could only drop the topic, and the two walked into the classroom one after the other.
Suddenly, Su Miao’s eyes lit up. She instantly came back to life and dashed to the seat by the window.
“Jiang Huashan!”
Jiang Huashan was packing her bag with her head down. Hearing someone call her, she looked up briefly. “Oh~”
“‘Oh’ what ‘oh’—what’s with that attitude!” Su Miao snapped, then lifted her chin and turned back to her seat.
Fu Sui’er frowned. “Is she mentally okay?”
She was the one who came over to greet them, so why act so high and mighty?
“Forget it. Don’t provoke her these days.”
Jiang Huashan had spent three days recuperating in Juyuan. Coming back to school, her biggest realization was that this battlefield was far gentler than the outside storm of blood and chaos. After seeing someone like Bai Zheng-level psychopaths, Su Miao was basically small fries.
Fu Sui’er hooked her arm around Jiang Huashan’s. “But seriously, she’s been acting really weird lately. She kept asking me every day why you didn’t come. What’s going on between you two?”
Jiang Huashan smiled. “I’ll tell you later. Don’t worry, we’re always best friends.”
Fu Sui’er lifted her chin proudly. “Obviously.”
Zhou Qishan quietly returned to her seat.
“Oh right, A-Qian, what were you saying just now?” Su Miao’s mood had improved, her tone turning lighter.
Zhou Qishan’s expression was calm. “Nothing.”
Su Miao was too focused on herself to notice the shift. Even though she could tell Zhou Qishan was unhappy, she didn’t care much.
Seeing that she truly wasn’t going to continue the conversation, Zhou Qishan didn’t try to smooth things over either. Disappointed, she stood up and walked out of the classroom.
Just then, Fu Xiaoxiao stormed in from the doorway, still cursing under her breath. She didn’t watch where she was going and bumped straight into Zhou Qishan.
Fu Xiaoxiao was already in a bad mood.
Earlier downstairs, she had personally seen Xiao Lanlan and Zhou Yanheng walking into the teaching building laughing and chatting. Ever since Xiao Lanlan appeared, Zhou Yanheng barely paid attention to her anymore. She had even heard upperclassmen say that when Xiao Lanlan wasn’t filming, she would go to the “Secret Garden” to find Zhou Yanheng, and the two of them would spend a long time alone together.
Fu Xiaoxiao gritted her teeth in jealousy. She had already confronted Zhou Yanheng before, but he simply didn’t take her seriously.
Now, with her anger at the breaking point, Zhou Qishan became the perfect target.
“You trying to act weird? Are you crazy? You bumped into me on purpose?!” she yelled.
The classroom instantly fell silent.
Zhou Qishan hadn’t expected such an overreaction. Her face turned pale, then red.
Fu Xiaoxiao continued, “What are you staring at me for like that? Everyone saw it—you did it on purpose. So disgusting.”
“Fu Xiaoxiao!” Su Miao slammed her desk and rushed over. “Who are you calling disgusting?! I’ll rip your mouth apart!”
Fu Xiaoxiao sneered. “What? Think I’m scared just because you’ve got more people? You’re the disgusting ones. And don’t think I don’t know—always sneaking out during class. Who knows what shady things you’re doing.”
Zhou Qishan’s expression changed sharply. She had a good temper, but that didn’t mean she accepted humiliation.
“You filthy-mouthed—I’ll tear your mouth apart!”
Su Miao reacted even faster, lunging at Fu Xiaoxiao in fury. Fu Xiaoxiao screamed as she fell to the ground. Su Miao straddled her stomach and tried to rip her mouth.
She was actually going for it.
The whole classroom snapped back to awareness and rushed in to pull them apart.
Fu Xiaoxiao wasn’t easy to deal with either—she kept kicking Su Miao.
The podium turned into chaos.
Fu Sui’er watched the scene, then stroked her chin. “Didn’t expect this crazy girl to actually be quite loyal.”
Jiang Huashan looked at Su Miao, who was baring her teeth in the crowd, and smiled faintly. “Who said otherwise?”
Very soon, news that the girls in Class 3 of Grade 1 were fighting spread throughout the building.
Shen Lanxi and Shen Qingyu immediately headed toward the first-year area upon hearing about the fight.
Shen Mingzhi came out of the office and happened to see Xiao Lanlan holding Zhou Yanheng’s arm intimately.
She felt uncomfortable and tried to avoid them, but Xiao Lanlan deliberately called out to her and dragged Zhou Yanheng over to greet her.
Zhou Yanheng remained polite as usual, unbothered.
Shen Mingzhi felt a little hurt. She wasn’t good at handling situations like this and was about to leave when a student from the student council rushed over.
“Chairman! There’s a fight in Class 3! They can’t be stopped!”
The first person she thought of was Jiang Huashan, and she immediately rushed toward the classroom.
Xiao Lanlan, knowing Jiang Huashan’s temperament, also wanted to join the excitement.
“A-Heng, shall we go take a look?”
Zhou Yanheng glanced at the noisy corridor and had little interest in drama.
Xiao Lanlan quickly added, “I think your sister is in that class too. It looks pretty serious, so I thought we should check. If you don’t want to go, we won’t.”
Zhou Yanheng didn’t answer. Just as he was about to leave, he saw Shen Lanxi and Shen Guiling enter the classroom.
The crowd parted immediately for the Shen family’s two young masters.
After a brief pause, Zhou Yanheng changed his tone.
“Alright. Let’s go.”
The Class 3 podium was packed with people.
Fu Xiaoxiao and Su Miao were still stubbornly grabbing each other’s hair, refusing to let go.
“Make way.”
A voice sounded calmly from the crowd.
The onlookers and those trying to break them up all stepped aside instantly upon recognizing him.
Shen Qingyu walked between the two girls, examined them seriously, confirmed Jiang Huashan wasn’t there, and waved his hand.
“Continue.”
Su Miao and Fu Xiaoxiao: “……”
