Jiang Huashan: “?”
Did Shen Turtle just insult someone in public?
This is… a breakdown?!
Fu Sui’er hugged her shoulders cautiously, her gaze flicking back and forth between Shen Guiling and Yu Sheng. Then she tilted her head and leaned against Jiang Huashan.
“Brother Qingyu just exposed Brother A-Ling’s ID card, didn’t he?”
“……”
Jiang Huashan wordlessly pushed Fu Sui’er’s head back upright.
“…”
Shen Qingyu let out a cold snort. Right in front of Shen Guiling, he took the last bite of his apple, then turned and flicked it straight at Jiang Huashan’s forehead.
It wasn’t very forceful, but his aim was accurate—knocking the “scene illusion” in Jiang Huashan’s mind clean out of existence.
“Plan properly. No slacking,” he said, waving a hand dismissively. Then he turned his head toward Shen Guiling and smiled lightly, walking straight past everyone as if they didn’t exist.
“……”
The apple core rolled across the ground and finally stopped beside Shen Guiling’s feet.
Yu Sheng felt slightly awkward and looked up at Shen Guiling, as if she wanted to say something, but ultimately held it back.
Fu Sui’er had no habit of secondhand embarrassment. As soon as Shen Qingyu left, she perked up again.
“You’re really the daughter of the new president?”
Yu Sheng nodded. “Mm.”
“Is being president busy? What time does he wake up and go to bed every day?”
Yu Sheng was a bit confused by the question, but still answered seriously.
“When things are busy, very busy. My father usually gets up at five in the morning, but his rest schedule isn’t fixed.”
Fu Sui’er asked again, “Are the president’s speeches written by himself, or does he hire someone at a high price to write them?”
That question was a bit rude, but Fu Sui’er asked it casually without any malice. After thinking for a moment, Yu Sheng replied tactfully,
“The main ideas are my father’s beliefs, but professional writers also help polish them.”
Fu Sui’er stroked her chin and suddenly became enthusiastic. She grabbed Yu Sheng’s hand.
“Sister Yu, I feel like we really hit it off. How about we talk more about your dad?”
“?”
Did she hit it off with her, or with her dad?
“Come on~ come on~ Sister Yu, let me tell you, that person who was talking earlier is my little brother, and also the worst-tempered one in our Shen family. Don’t mind him—our family is all superficially harmonious but actually each doing our own thing, so we can still be good friends.”
“……”
Yu Sheng knew about Fu Sui’er. Her mother, Shen Jiao, was at the very top of the elite circles in Whale Harbor, and one of the key sponsors behind political, business, and charity galas. If Yu Sheng wanted to enter that social circle, Shen Jiao was the ideal bridge.
With this in mind, Yu Sheng’s smile became much more sincere, and she turned to look at Shen Guiling, seemingly asking for his opinion.
Fu Sui’er rolled her eyes and waved at Shen Guiling.
“Brother A-Ling, I’m borrowing Sister Yu for a bit. I’ll return her later.”
“Don’t talk nonsense,” Yu Sheng’s face heated up again.
Shen Guiling’s smile faded slightly. He gave a faint nod, then, as he turned away, glanced indifferently at Jiang Huashan before walking out without looking back.
Yu Sheng froze slightly. Before she could think about what was wrong with him, Fu Sui’er had already dragged her away again.
“Sister Yu, what books does your dad usually read?”
“Ah?” Yu Sheng thought for a moment. “He reads a very wide range of books, like Things Fall Apart, The Great Experiment, The Zhao Family, many others…”
Jiang Huashan lowered her head and looked at the apple on the ground, lightly rubbing the bridge of her nose.
Is Shen Qingyu out of his mind? Or does he really not consider the consequences at all—trying to offend everyone in one go?
Expressionlessly, Jiang Huashan picked up the little “poor thing.”
“You guys chat. I’m going back to my room to work on the plan.”
Yu Sheng: “Should we—”
Before she could finish, Fu Sui’er grabbed her arm. “It’s just a small matter, Shanshan can handle it. Let’s talk about us.”
Jiang Huashan nodded and turned back toward the embroidery building.
On the other side, Shen Guiling had just returned to Bamboo Garden when Lei Xing immediately came up to greet him.
“Master A-Ling, you’re back?”
Shen Guiling was in a bad mood and gave a light “mm” as a response.
Lei Xing followed him in small steps. “Young master, that—” He glanced meaningfully toward the balcony.
Shen Guiling paused. “Who’s here?”
Lei Xing: “It’s Master Shen. He’s waiting for you in your bedroom.”
Originally, Lei Xing had invited Shen Qian to wait in the main hall, but Shen Qian had gone straight to Shen Guiling’s bedroom.
Shen Guiling considered it for a moment, then his eyes relaxed slightly. “It’s fine. Go back to your work.”
After dismissing Lei Xing, Shen Guiling went straight upstairs. His hand rested on the doorknob for a moment before he finally pushed the door open.
Shen Qian was sitting on the sofa in the study. Several books he had taken from the desk were placed on the coffee table.
Shen Guiling walked over. “Dad.”
Shen Qian had his legs crossed, hands clasped over his knee. His gaze swept over Shen Guiling. “Sit.”
Shen Guiling nodded and sat down.
Shen Qian said, “I heard that Yao Zhilei has been deliberately provoking you at school, even going as far as setting snakes on you and hiring someone to deal with you?”
Shen Guiling: “Dad, grandfather has already handled this matter.”
Shen Qian nodded, staring at him as if unconcerned. “Something like this happened—why didn’t you report it to the old man earlier?”
Shen Guiling hesitated slightly. “Didn’t you tell me to behave and not cause trouble?”
Shen Qian froze slightly. He had indeed told Shen Guiling to be cautious, but not to the extent of tolerating threats to his life. He let out a soft sigh, his tone softening. “Did you already guess who was behind Yao Zhilei?”
Shen Guiling answered calmly, “I have no enmity with Yao Zhilei. There was no reason for him to target me on my first day of transfer. The only person in this world who wants me dead is that one person—what does Dad think?”
Shen Qian felt a complicated mix of emotions. “You’re a good child. You’ve suffered.”
Shen Guiling shook his head. “I understand Dad’s difficulties, and I know you and her share mutual interests. Don’t worry, Dad, I know my limits. I’ll be more careful in the future and try to avoid her.”
Faced with such an obedient and understanding child, anyone would inevitably feel softened. Shen Qian’s expression turned serious. “A-Ling, don’t worry. Dad promises you—this kind of thing will never happen again.”
Shen Guiling smiled gently, looking harmless and obedient. “I believe you, Dad.”
Shen Qian looked very satisfied. He tapped his fingers lightly on his knee. “A-Ling, are you very familiar with the Yu family’s young lady?”
Shen Guiling’s gaze shifted slightly, his eyelashes lowering. “Not really. The night Yao Zhilei hired someone to attack me, I was injured, and she just happened to pass by and saved me.”
Shen Qian studied his face for a long time, his smile growing increasingly kind. “Then you two really do have fate.”
Shen Guiling said nothing.
Shen Qian smiled faintly, speaking earnestly, “A-Ling, this is a great opportunity that has come to your doorstep. Get along well with the young lady of the Yu family. Don’t disappoint Dad.”
