After eating his fill, Wang Bo wanted to return to his room.
At that moment, a refined middle-aged man politely stopped him and asked, “Hello, are you Mr. Wang Bo, the renowned Chinese-New Zealander politician and businessman?”
Hearing this, Wang Bo almost laughed. “I’m Wang Bo, a Chinese New Zealander, but I’m not a famous politician, nor am I exactly a competent businessman.”
The man smiled politely. “Mr. Wang, you are truly modest and humble. I didn’t expect to meet you here—it’s fate, truly fate. For me personally, it’s an absolute honor.”
The man’s courteous tone made it difficult for Wang Bo to just push him aside. As the saying goes, “you don’t strike a smiling face,” so he patiently asked, “I don’t know who you are yet?”
The middle-aged man smiled. “My own identity is of little consequence to you, Mr. Wang. But you may be somewhat interested in our boss. How about this—would you mind stepping into our boss’s room to meet him?”
Wang Bo hesitated and said, “I just flew back from New Zealand today and I’m a bit tired.”
Upon hearing this, the man did not insist further. “Then please rest first. If you feel more relaxed tomorrow, could you meet with our boss?”
Wang Bo decided to buy some time and nodded, leaving.
Having befriended many key politicians and wealthy businessmen in New Zealand, he had developed some ability to judge people. This middle-aged man carried himself with extraordinary poise and sharp eyes; he was definitely no ordinary person.
From this, Wang Bo inferred that his boss must be even more impressive. He guessed that the flashy car outside—the Volkswagen Phideon—probably belonged to them.
There was no electricity, which meant the air conditioning was useless. Fortunately, being the north, the inn had heating through stoves. As long as the stoves kept burning, warmth would spread.
Perhaps because there were usually few guests, the heating had just been turned on, and the room was still very cold. Wang Bo shivered slightly as soon as he took off his coat.
Just then, he didn’t even have the chance to get under the covers when Eva nudged him: “Hurry! Da Pang and Er Pang ran out! Go catch them!”
The snow was irresistibly attractive to the lynx cats. At first, seeing the blizzard, their eyes had widened with excitement. Now, with a gap in the inn, they immediately dashed outside.
However, having lived in New Zealand for a long time, their fur was adapted to the Southern Hemisphere’s seasons. Their winter coat hadn’t grown in yet, making them prone to catching a cold in a blizzard.
This concerned Eva, but Wang Bo was unconcerned. With how rotund Da Pang and Er Pang were, could the blizzard harm them? Impossible!
Still, he couldn’t ignore his fiancée’s words. Wang Bo put on his coat and ran outside to fetch them.
Da Pang and Er Pang had been playing, which wasn’t particularly fun, but seeing Wang Bo come out, they thought he was joining in. Instantly, they began jumping and scrambling about.
Unfortunately, the inn had no power, and the sky was overcast. Wang Bo was nearly blind outside, so rather than catching the cats, it felt like he was being toyed with by them.
Zhuang Ding (the dog) also felt the cold and didn’t come out to show loyalty this time. Wang Bo happened to glance back and saw the dog lying by the window, happily watching outside—right next to a radiator!
After letting Da Pang and Er Pang tire themselves out, Wang Bo returned to bed, covered in sweat, and didn’t feel the cold anymore.
Later in the night, Wang Bo gradually felt chilled. He pulled Zhuang Ding under the covers, but his body still felt cold—a deep, internal chill.
However, he could endure it. Even feeling slightly unwell, he assumed it was because he had left the castle. Holding Zhuang Ding, he managed to fall asleep.
By morning, however, Wang Bo could no longer bear it and couldn’t get out of bed.
Eva immediately noticed something was wrong. Usually, Wang Bo woke early; she was the one who lingered in bed. This time, it was Wang Bo who was lingering.
“My god, do you have a fever?” Eva exclaimed, touching his forehead in worry.
Wang Bo realized something was off. Since obtaining the Lord’s Heart, he had never felt such weakness.
Zhuang Ding sensed his mood and quietly watched him with wide eyes. The two chubby cats got up to play, and Zhuang Ding promptly swatted them both to the ground.
Wang Bo realized it was the result of getting soaked in the blizzard and then catching a cold. He had been careless, thinking his body was invincible.
Eva asked the driver where they could find a doctor. Outside, the blizzard raged, and roads were covered in snow, making it impossible to drive to a hospital. They had to hope a doctor could come to them.
The driver looked worried. He wasn’t familiar with the area, and there were hardly any doctors available in town.
By morning, the refined middle-aged man who had spoken with Wang Bo the previous night was waiting outside his door.
He silently listened to Eva and the driver talk, then said, “Mr. Wang, you’ve caught a wind-cold, right? I believe we can help.”
“Really?” Eva asked in delight.
Soon, under the middle-aged man’s guidance, a ruddy-faced elder entered their room. He first checked Wang Bo’s pulse, then looked at his tongue. “This isn’t wind-cold; it’s wind-heat.”
Eva looked puzzled. “What?”
“It’s all a cold, but not the same kind,” the doctor smiled. “This is wind-heat invading the exterior, disrupting the lung qi. A minor issue. With some wind-dispersing, heat-clearing remedies combined with a harmonizing formula, two doses will take effect.”
“What?” Eva still looked confused.
The elder didn’t explain further, and Wang Bo didn’t know how to either. Introducing traditional Chinese medicine to Eva was tricky—it was like a dog swallowing a hedgehog.
The refined middle-aged man returned, this time with a tall man beside him. This man was unusually tall for a Chinese person, nearly two meters, walking with the confidence of a dragon and tiger. His eyebrows were sharp, and he exuded authority without anger.
From him, Wang Bo sensed a familiar aura—the confident, commanding presence of a domineering CEO.
The man smiled at Wang Bo and said, “Hello, Mayor Wang. I heard from my doctor that you’re unwell. I specifically came to bring you two doses of medicine. Do you have someone who can prepare the herbs?”
Wang Bo curiously asked, “And you are?”
The refined man introduced him: “This is our President Ye, Mr. Ye Qipeng. Mayor Wang, have you heard of the Northern Agricultural and Grain Group? Mr. Ye is the Executive CEO of the group.”
Hearing this, Wang Bo felt some strength return.
Previously, he had little understanding of this group, only knowing of entities like COFCO or various north-south grain reserve groups.
After joining the Stubborn Cattle Club in New Zealand, he had gained some insight into large agricultural enterprises worldwide, and the Northern Agricultural and Grain Group was one of China’s major players.
Unexpectedly, he was meeting the group’s CEO—in a small, inconspicuous town no less!
