Everything happened just the way Hani predicted.
Wang Bo was sleeping soundly that night when suddenly the roars of Zhuang Ding and the Queen echoed through the hall. Little Wang took the chance to roar twice as well. The lion-like and tiger-like bellows shook the entire castle.
“What’s going on, darling?” Eva asked groggily. She really loved to sleep—she could even ask questions with her eyes still closed.
Wang Bo thought she looked adorable like that. He kissed her on the forehead and said, “I’ll go take a look.”
He didn’t need to check the surveillance. Since Zhuang Ding and the others only barked once before stopping, it meant the visitor wasn’t a stranger—once they recognized who it was, they quieted down.
Outside, Bowen and Qingyang had also come out. Little Hani was clutching a gun and asked steadily, “Boss, what happened? Did a bad guy break in?”
Wang Bo was shocked at the shotgun in his arms. “What bad guy? And where did you get that gun? Damn it, be careful, what if it goes off!”
Little Hani grinned. “Of course it won’t. My dad gave it to me. It’s a family heirloom of the Hani clan.”
Hearing his voice, Zhuang Ding wagged his tail and ran over. Right after him, a massive figure followed behind. When the lights turned on, a beam of golden light illuminated its body.
“Tuhao Jin?!” Wang Bo was stunned.
The moment it saw him, Tuhao Jin immediately trotted over, snorted at him twice, then neighed repeatedly while stomping its hooves on the marble floor, as if complaining.
Wang Bo immediately understood—this brat had run out of the stable. He hugged Tuhao Jin’s huge head and smoothed its fur to calm it.
But Tuhao Jin wasn’t buying it. It kept on neighing.
Eva rubbed her sleepy eyes and walked out. When she saw the visitor, she was shocked too. “Wow, is that Tuhao Jin? Isn’t it supposed to be at school? Why did it run back here?”
“Isn’t it obvious? It skipped school!” Wang Bo said irritably. “Hey, hey! Tuhao Jin, calm down, be good!”
Tuhao Jin struggled in his arms and even blew air at him.
Eva fetched a basin of clear water. “I think it might be starving and thirsty. Maybe it ran all the way from Aukland. It probably didn’t eat or drink along the way.”
Sure enough, once she put the water down, Tuhao Jin went over and licked it clean in one go.
There were vegetables in the kitchen. Besides carrots, Tuhao Jin liked cabbage, potatoes, and other vegetables. Eva brought some over, and it devoured everything.
Watching the way it gobbled up the food, Wang Bo’s face softened. “This little guy must’ve done nothing but run here the whole way. My God—it’s starving.”
Once it had eaten and drunk its fill, Tuhao Jin lifted its tail. Crack-crack-crack! Fresh piles of steaming horse manure came out.
Everyone was dumbfounded. Then Little Hani and the Bartier Jr. immediately started retching loudly.
Zhuang Ding found the horse manure very interesting. He ran over to sniff it and even tried to lick it with his tongue.
Wang Bo nearly peed himself. “Zhuang Ding! If you dare lick that, you can forget about kissing me ever again!”
The mastiff understood. At Wang Bo’s shout, it retreated immediately and even pursed its lips in disdain like a human would.
But Wang Bo could clearly see the longing in its eyes!
He had been happy earlier about Tuhao Jin’s night-time sprint home, but now, staring at the huge pile of horse manure, he was starting to lose the mood.
What was worse—Tuhao Jin liked to poop first, then pee.
So while the manure was still steaming, its tail flicked, and splaaaash—a white-yellow stream of pee slammed onto the ground like a pressure washer.
Wang Bo immediately called Marlon. “Hey, buddy, where’s Tuhao Jin?”
Marlon was half-asleep. “Tuhao Jin? It’s in the stable—fuck, damn it, it’s gone? Did it run home?!”
Wang Bo said, “Yes! Can you please take better care of it? Check if Black King is still there. It hasn’t come back—I don’t want anything happening to it on the road or someone stealing it!”
Marlon hurriedly said, “Sorry, boss! Don’t worry—Black King is fine, it’s right here. Only Tuhao Jin… only that brat ran away!”
They agreed to send it back tomorrow. Wang Bo looked at the disaster that was his hall, utterly despairing.
Even more despairing was Little Hani. Cleaning was his job. He shouted, “I’m done! I quit! Boss, I quit! I’m going to be a tour guide instead! My Chinese is very fluent!”
Wang Bo said, “You can quit after you clean everything. You have to do proper handover. Bowen, go help him.”
Bowen roared, “In your dreams! I’m the deputy town mayor, not a janitor!”
“The deputy mayor has to listen to the mayor. And I’ll help too,” Wang Bo said.
Since he personally joined in, no one had anything left to complain about. They put on masks and started cleaning.
Horse manure wasn’t actually that smelly—after all, horses are herbivores. With everyone working together, they cleaned up quickly.
Later, Wang Bo dreamed of his middle school days—specifically, the days when he was on toilet-cleaning duty…
The next morning, the horse transport vehicle arrived. Wang Bo put Tuhao Jin inside and escorted it back to the ranch.
With him accompanying it, Tuhao Jin behaved well. Along the way, Wang Bo fed it carrots, and it ate happily—so much that it kept pooping nonstop!
The ranch was huge, probably over a thousand acres. Wang Bo felt its stables weren’t as luxurious as his own. Many of the railings looked like they might collapse any moment.
Inside the stable, Wang Bo told Marlon, “You know Tuhao Jin is smart enough to open doors. Next time, you really need to put a lock on.”
Marlon said gloomily, “Boss, I did put a lock on. It didn’t open the door—it broke through the railing…”
As they walked, they passed a stall where a section of railing was missing. Broken wood pieces lay on the ground. Clearly, this was Tuhao Jin’s handiwork.
The ranch owner was a bearded white man around the same age as Marlon and the others. His name was Angie Luke. When they introduced each other, Marlon explained that the Luke family had been in the horse racing business for generations. This ranch had existed for 150 years.
Wang Bo understood immediately. No wonder the place had so much historical “atmosphere.”
Luke was good friends with Marlon, Peterson, and Mackson. Even though the railing was broken, he didn’t ask Wang Bo for compensation. Instead, he laughed loudly. “Now I believe Old Ma. This is one remarkable horse.”
Marlon said, “Of course! It’s absolutely a great horse. Yesterday was too late—we settled it down immediately. It didn’t burn off its energy, so its destructive power was this strong.”
“Let’s do this—today we’ll run a few races. I’ll show you what Tuhao Jin can do.”
Luke said, “I don’t doubt you, Old Ma, but this kid hasn’t even been professionally trained yet…”
“It’ll crush you!”
“Fuck—fine! Let’s go!”
