HLM – Chapter 865 Raising Police Dogs

Happy Little Mayor 5 min read 865 of 1443 14

The animal ranch didn’t have a kennel yet, so Wang Bo chose a single-row stable at the edge of the ranch—one that didn’t have any horses yet—and placed two little puppies inside.

They were too small to take care of themselves. Once inside the stable, they pawed at the blocked door and looked out pitifully, whining as they stared outside.

Sheriff Smith waved his hand sympathetically and said, “Goodbye, little pups. Goodbye, my dear comrades. Once you grow up, I’ll take you back, okay?”

Then he strolled away, his back radiating that effortless swagger.

Wang Bo felt sorry for the puppies and handed them over to Zhuang Ding, saying, “Take good care of these little darlings, alright? If they feel cold, just hold them.”

Zhuang Ding looked at him with a puzzled expression, wagging his tail happily.

Thus began the training life of the two police dogs.

The first step was teaching them to sit. Wang Bo specifically bought a police dog training manual, a highly rated book online claiming that even ordinary people could train their pet dogs into working dogs.

Wang Bo thought, I’m not an ordinary person; I’m an excellent sheriff. And these aren’t ordinary pets—they’re puppies with excellent police dog genes.

Most importantly, he had the ranch’s resources to assist him. Training these little ones shouldn’t be difficult. Producing two fully trained police dogs? Piece of cake.

When Uncle Bing heard this, he shook his head: “Reality will slap you, boss. It’s not that easy; training police dogs isn’t a walk in the park.”

Wang Bo ignored him, determined to show his subordinates a thing or two.

On Tuesday, under clear skies and a gentle breeze, he brought Zhuang Ding and the two puppies outside.

Outside the stable, the puppies finally tasted the freedom of open air. They immediately got excited, chasing and playfully biting each other.

Nearby, Malong was walking the horses with the trainers. It happened to be a break time, and the wild horses came over curiously to look at the little creatures—they had never seen puppies before.

Likewise, the little Labrador and German Shepherd had never seen such big horses. They craned their necks to get a better look, but when faced with these massive animals, they got scared and urinated on the spot—no exaggeration—the puppies whimpered and yelped in terror.

Wang Bo saw this as a good training opportunity. Police dogs must learn to overcome fear, as they will encounter many unexpected situations on the job that could trigger fear responses. Training must address this from the start.

He gently held the puppies and spoke in a soothing tone: “Don’t be afraid. It’s okay. They’re horses; they won’t attack you…”

As he tried to comfort them, Tuhao Jin suddenly charged over like a cannonball.

Wang Bo’s calming efforts became useless. The little puppies panicked and ran, yelping, scrambling under his legs.

Tuhao Jin got close, lowered its head, and tried to lick Wang Bo’s face. The puppies probably thought it was going to eat them, and they huddled under his legs, barking and flailing.

The German Shepherd pawed upward, accidentally scratching Wang Bo’s groin.

Wang Bo groaned in pain, grabbed his groin, and pushed Tuhao Jin away: “Go, go chase your mare! Stop causing trouble!”

Tuhao Jin looked wronged, blinking and snorting twice.

The two little police dogs screamed again.

Wang Bo had no choice but to call Sheriff Smith: “Are these two really descendants of police dogs?”

“Of course. The Labrador’s mother is a rescue dog star, and its father is still serving at Auckland International Airport. The German Shepherd’s parents are military dogs serving the New Zealand Army. Why? Do they have a problem?”

Wang Bo sighed: “Nothing, I just… wanted to confirm.”

“How are the pups performing with you?”

“All is well, under control.”

After hanging up, Wang Bo looked down. The Labrador tilted its head with big, curious eyes, and the German Shepherd sat there dumbly, staring at him.

“Alright, your bloodlines are fine. I must have rushed things,” Wang Bo said helplessly. “Let’s continue training—next, standing and sitting.”

“Stand!” The puppies wagged their tails and stood in front of him.

“Sit.” They wagged their tails and still stood.

“Sit, and you’ll get a treat!” Wang Bo resorted to the ultimate weapon: dog food.

The puppies immediately lunged at him, scrambling onto his legs.

“Sit! Behave, sit!”

“Sit, aren’t you tired of standing?”

“Please, just sit!”

“I’ll kneel to your dog ancestors! Just sit!”

Eva, who was helping him with the training, laughed so hard she couldn’t stand straight. She raised her camera: “Go, darling! I just saw the Labrador bend its legs—it wants to sit.”

“Hope you’re not just comforting me,” Wang Bo groaned, demonstrating himself: “Come on, let’s try again. Sit.”

The German Shepherd finally sat, scratching its hind leg, then stood again. The Labrador simply flopped down.

Wang Bo was about to lose it, but the puppies got even more excited, deciding it was more fun to play than follow his commands.

The German Shepherd’s strength dominated the Labrador, even as a pup. Soon, the Labrador ran around frantically, chased by the Shepherd.

They ran into the herd of horses. The wild horses seemed to regain a sense of freedom and began running as well.

The trainers struggled to calm the herd, and Malong shouted: “For God’s sake, boss, get these dogs away!”

Wang Bo decided to step back. He told Uncle Bing: “You train these two. And if anyone tells me Labradors or German Shepherds are smarter than other dogs, I’ll use this video to slap them!”

Uncle Bing waved his hand: “I’m not good at this, boss. I’m good with soldiers, not dogs.”

“Treat them as soldiers—they’re very smart.”

“You just told me—”

“I’m telling you now, not myself!” Wang Bo argued slyly.

Uncle Bing was speechless but eventually found a solution: “Give them to Gerald. He loves training dogs. He even trained a Pit Bull, a vicious, not-so-smart dog, successfully.”

Uncle Bing said coldly: “Pit Bulls aren’t dumb.”

Wang Bo ignored him: “Good. Gerald will handle the training.”

“Gerald is perfect—he loves dogs,” said Atulu.

Conley nodded: “He’ll surely raise two excellent police dogs!”

Writer Hill said: “I’ll put this story in my book. Go for it, Gerald.”

Gerald: “…”
