Wang Bo patted the drying lamp and exclaimed, “This thing is really something. Absolutely a five-star hotel for a stable.”
Malong laughed. Wang Bo asked, “Are you laughing at me for being inexperienced?”
“No, I see my younger self in you. When I first saw a modern stable, I was just as amazed. In fact, the truly luxurious stables are even fancier than the five-star hotels people stay in.”
The main structure here was still the stable. Wang Bo had only looked at one so far. As he continued inspecting, he realized that the interior layouts of these stables were completely different.
Malong explained that the first stable Wang Bo saw was a single-row stable. Besides that, there were double-row stables, with two rows inside and a passageway in the middle.
These stables could accommodate more horses and were easier to manage, but they were only suitable for docile mares or young horses. If you put an aggressive stallion like “Tuhao Jin” in there, they would fight.
There was also a communal-style stable, with no divisions between the horses—a large open area suitable for mares and young horses, leaving plenty of space for movement.
Compared to single-row stables, double-row stables had more complete auxiliary facilities. Single-row stables only had partitions and storage rooms, while double-row stables included hay storage rooms, feed preparation rooms, tack rooms, caretaker lounges, tool rooms, hoof care rooms, and infirmaries—all located close to the stables and fire-safe.
For water and electricity, Wang Bo had Malong supervise the setup. Every stable had water valves and electrical switches, and nearly every two single stalls shared a water tap.
Above each tap was a light with a sturdy protective cover. Wang Bo flipped the main switch, and a string of lights turned on. To mimic natural sunlight, the lights had a slightly yellow tint, giving the feel of daylight.
With the inspection complete, the next step was simple: bring the horses into the stables.
Wang Bo turned his attention to the wild horses running freely in the paddock.
First, they needed a lead example. These wild horses were very cautious; forcing them in wouldn’t work. Wang Bo chose Tuhao Jin as the example.
Tuhao Jin had a “Soul of the Horse” and a close bond with Wang Bo, so it obeyed him readily.
Wang Bo blew a sharp whistle, and Tuhao Jin shot over like a cannonball.
Malong’s eyes always seemed to light up when he saw Tuhao Jin, and this time was no exception. He rubbed his hands and said, “What a fine horse! This is the best horse I’ve ever seen. It’s destined to make a huge impact on the racetrack!”
Wang Bo opened a stable stall and signaled Tuhao Jin to enter.
Tuhao Jin was obedient but not foolish. It eyed the stable suspiciously, snorted twice, and tried to back away slowly.
Fortunately, Wang Bo was quick and sharp. He dashed forward like a cannonball, grabbed Tuhao Jin by the neck, and pointed at the stall. “Go in! There are delicious carrots inside—hurry!”
Although Tuhao Jin wasn’t a glutton, the garden-grown carrots were irresistible. Wang Bo had also placed a bucket of oats inside. To Tuhao Jin, carrots and oats were like beer and roasted meat for Atulu.
Malong brought out the food, and Tuhao Jin’s big eyes widened. With Wang Bo coaxing nearby, it finally stepped into the stable.
Some horses in the distance watched curiously. Seeing Tuhao Jin enter, they instinctively approached, wanting to see where it went.
Malong laughed. “Good horses. Their curiosity shows they have a strong desire to learn. Once you take them to the training ground, you’ll see how excellent they are.”
Tuhao Jin happily munched in the stable while Wang Bo used carrots to attract the other horses.
Malong and the others often fed these wild horses with carrots, so the horses were familiar with them. Seeing Wang Bo hold out carrots again, the horses ran over in a frenzy.
Wang Bo tossed carrots into the stable, hoping to lure them in like fishing.
But wild horses were too wary. Unlike Tuhao Jin, they didn’t fully trust him.
Although they coveted the carrots, not a single horse entered the stable.
Wang Bo kept increasing the temptation, tossing carrot after carrot into the stable. “For a wild horse, there’s no problem a carrot can’t solve. If there is, then maybe two carrots.”
He was confident in this, but reality slapped him hard. No matter how many carrots he threw, the wild horses stayed outside, watching.
Seeing this wasn’t working, Wang Bo let Tuhao Jin out again as an example for the herd.
However, Tuhao Jin was cunning. After eating its fill inside, it immediately bolted the moment it was released. By the time Wang Bo reacted, it was gone.
Malong laughed heartily. Wang Bo, embarrassed and angry, shouted, “What the hell are you laughing at?! Tuhao Jin just went to digest its food! It’ll come back when it’s tired!”
The old horse trainer still chuckled. “Boss, don’t fool yourself. You know Tuhao Jin hates being confined. But I’m not laughing at you—I’m happy. Tuhao Jin really is a perfect horse king.”
Speaking of horse kings, after Tuhao Jin there was Black Horse King. Wang Bo focused his attention on it next.
Black Horse King also had a “Soul of the Horse” and naturally liked Wang Bo, who had a “Lord’s Heart.” Normally, Eva took care of it, so their bond wasn’t as close as with Tuhao Jin.
Wang Bo approached, brushed its neck, and Black Horse King, a bit surprised, lowered its head to let him work.
After brushing, Wang Bo brought out a carrot. Like teasing a child, he slowly swayed the carrot backward, step by step, coaxing it into the stable.
Once inside, Wang Bo closed the door. Black Horse King realized the situation wasn’t great.
However, with the “Soul of the Horse,” it wasn’t resistant like Tuhao Jin. It walked around a bit, felt comfortable, and calmly ate the carrots.
Wang Bo was pleased and waved at the wild horses. “Hurry in! Look, your leader is inside. It’s a great place—come in!”
Of course, the wild horses didn’t understand him. They didn’t blindly follow the horse king. They wandered in twos and threes nearby, but no one entered.
However, having Black Horse King inside did have an effect. Tuhao Jin, seeing this, became angry, dashed in, and roared twice in a show of dominance before barging into a stall.
Wang Bo did nothing—Tuhao Jin fully cooperated this time.
Malong laughed again. “This one really knows its territory. Do you know what it just said to Black Horse King? ‘This-is-my-house!’”
