HLM -Chapter 828 Bats Are Hard to Handle

“Humans can only rely on God for salvation! The more advanced technology becomes, the more dangerous our situation is!”

“One day in the past, scientists opened a one-way space-time gate using modern technology combined with ancient magical incantations.”

“When everyone was celebrating, devils appeared. The entire laboratory was overtaken by the ghost army controlled by them, and their next target is— the entire Earth!”

“If you are a warrior, then go fight the ghosts! Hunt the ghost cars! Snipe the ghost zombie soldiers!”

Eva said to Wang Bo, “Wow, this sounds pretty good. Should we join this event?”

Wang Bo jerked his chin toward Dale. “I still have to protect Her Highness the Princess.”

Eva glanced over and laughed. “Her Highness the Princess is busy collecting her candy. She won’t care where her guard and maid have wandered off to.”

“You’re saying… the guard and the maid are eloping?”

“No, we’re going to hunt ghost cars!”

This was an event organized by the Flaming Mountain Bar. The Four had been resting lately, building a recording studio to prepare for an album. Taking advantage of Halloween and the ghost car news, they came up with a “ghost car hunt” event.

The Flaming Mountain Bar had become famous throughout the entire South Island, and customers came in an endless stream every day. Many singers and bands came to work there, so the Lady Four no longer had to perform daily.

The ghost-car-hunting event was basically bumper cars, the cars covered with ghost faces and similar decorations—some even smeared with ketchup to imitate blood.

The last time Wang Bo played bumper cars was twenty years ago. Back then, because of his family circumstances, he couldn’t play to his heart’s content. So since Eva liked it, he was very happy to accompany her.

After a round of bumper cars, both of them were splashed with ketchup and similar stuff, having had a great time.

Several hotels teamed up to create a “haunted escape room” project. As expected, it was a ghost-themed escape room, and quite a few people went to try it. Puzzle-solving games were always popular.

There was never a shortage of people who thought they were smart in this world.

After enjoying a pleasant Halloween, Wang Bo was ready to greet the new month with 100% energy and full fighting spirit.

But on the morning of November 1st, reality hit him hard!

He had played too late on Halloween night, so he woke up a little later than usual. It was already 7 a.m., and the sun was high.

After washing up, he went downstairs and saw some scattered dirty stuff on the ground—little clumps here and there, looking disgusting.

“What is this stuff?” He looked at Little Hani, who was reading.

Little Hani shrugged. “Bat droppings. I cleaned several times this morning, but they keep showing up. Boss, I think releasing the bats last night wasn’t such a wise decision.”

A swarm of bats flapped in and flew inside. They circled around the location of the Heart of the Nest. Commissioner burst out fiercely, squawking and driving the bats away.

But soon after, more than a dozen bats flew in again—flying and pooping at the same time, utterly arrogant.

Wang Bo hurried out for a look. Good lord, the courtyard had even more bats. These things were hiding in the shadows, eyeing the castle eagerly.

And it wasn’t just the Heart of the Nest attracting them anymore—bats loved dark environments. They didn’t want to stay in the courtyard during the day. Clearly, the castle suited them much better.

Little Hani didn’t know the Heart of the Nest was attracting them. He said, “I guess the TV shows weren’t lying—castles have a natural attraction for bats. New Zealand doesn’t have many castles. They finally found one; how could they want to leave?”

Wang Bo knew the bats staying had little to do with the castle itself. He rubbed his forehead helplessly. “It’s fine if they like the castle, but the castle isn’t theirs—it’s mine! Think of a way to drive them out!”

After the Halloween break, November 1st was a rest day, so everyone started brainstorming how to get rid of the bats.

The easiest way was of course to use a gun to scare them. Atulu came with a hunting rifle, patting his big belly. “I bet one gunshot and these guys will run rolling and pissing themselves!”

“Wood pigeons will also run rolling and pissing themselves,” Juan said regretfully.

Kidd offered a modern university student’s idea: “If we can’t scare them with a gun, the best method is ultrasound. We all know bats use ultrasound for navigation. If we interfere with their ultrasound, they’ll leave.”

Wang Bo nodded. “Good idea.”

Everyone nodded. “Yes, that’s a good idea.”

Kidd was grinning from ear to ear seeing his proposal so well-received.

But then Wang Bo asked coldly, “So how do we produce ultrasound? Or how do we interfere with their ultrasound?”

Kidd froze. After squeezing his brain dry, he said weakly, “I only propose ideas. The actual work should be handled by Deputy Mayor Bowen. After all, releasing the bats into the castle was his idea.”

Bowen was instantly furious. “F*ck that, I’m not taking that blame! Buying the bats and releasing them into the castle was a decision we made together in the meeting!”

“Is there any chemical that bats hate? Or something that could scare them? Should we introduce their natural enemies?”

“I know snakes are bats’ natural enemies, but I don’t think that idea will work.”

Wang Bo looked at Kidd, who had spoken last. “At least your university education wasn’t wasted!”

The army never had a good way to deal with the air force—especially when the air force had infiltrated their base. Some bats hid in the shade of tree branches along with the wood pigeons. They couldn’t attack the bats without also attacking the pigeons.

Wang Bo wanted Commissioner and the Army Chief (the two parrots) to chase them away. The parrots did their best, but the bats were obsessed with the Heart of the Nest. Whatever its attraction was, it was very strong—they flew out only to fly back again.

Soon, the problem became worse. There were air-conditioning units installed on the castle. To protect the machines, the outer casing extended outward, acting as a shelter against wind and rain.

The bats discovered the air-conditioning units and began hanging upside down there, seemingly planning to build nests.

Unfortunately, right beside the AC units were ventilation inlets. This meant the castle’s air-circulation system was sucking in air from right next to the bats.

Bats carried many bacteria and viruses. Wang Bo knew this very well. They had to be driven out, or the castle would become uninhabitable.

When resources are limited, creativity emerges.

On the 2nd, he suddenly remembered a rumor from his hometown: bat blood could attract bats. Sunset Town didn’t have batfish, but it had eels. And eels looked similar enough—so maybe they worked the same?

Thus, he opened the sandbox and retrieved two eels from the lake bottom—one longfin eel and one shortfin eel.
