The bus drove to the foot of the mountain. Now that they were closer, the faintly visible castle gradually became clear.
In the past, it had stood alone and barren—a single towering structure that looked imposing yet desolate, like a giant that had been watching over the mountainside since ancient times.
But now, surrounded by a sea of clouds, the castle seemed wrapped in mystery, its outline ethereal—almost like a celestial palace from old legends.
As soon as they arrived at the foot of the mountain, everyone tilted their heads upward, cameras raised. A few girls were already shrieking in excitement.
“Take one for me!”
“Hurry up! Find the best angle and lighting—I want one with the castle!”
Fan Dong dug at his ear and said to Wang Bo, “See? That’s exactly why I don’t want to get married. Too noisy. Ever since they saw your birth flower, it’s been non-stop screaming.”
Wang Bo jumped off his horse and nodded seriously. “Right. I don’t eat grapes because they’re sour.”
Na Qingyang laughed loudly. “Old Wang’s answer is sharp! I give it 103 points—one extra for praise, one for emotion, and one for brotherly love!”
Hou Haibo teased, “Old Wang, your town shouldn’t be called Sunset Town. It should be Screaming Town.”
“At night, try not to scream too loudly,” Wang Bo said as he removed the saddle and patted Tuhao Jin’s neck, letting it roam freely.
Zhao Xiaohui’s face flushed red. She swatted him. “Old Wang, since when did you get so dirty-minded?”
Wang Bo looked confused. “Huh? What’s dirty-minded about that?”
“Oh, come on, still pretending to be innocent?” Hou Haibo laughed. “You said not to scream too loudly at night—what else could that mean?”
It finally clicked for Wang Bo, and he couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time. “You guys got it all wrong, my brothers. I meant we’ll have a party tonight—you’ll be so surprised you’ll scream!”
“I’m not listening! Let’s go see the castle already! I’ve never stayed in one!”
“Stayed in one? I haven’t even seen one in person before!”
Watching his old classmates’ exaggerated reactions, Wang Bo smiled. It really felt like being back in their university days. He regretted not inviting them sooner.
As they climbed the mountain, he said to Na Qingyang, “Bro, I’ve been careless about this. Should’ve brought our classmates here earlier. From now on, you handle it—anyone who wants to visit, just let them come.”
Zhou Haojie said sourly, “Wow, listen to that—such leadership energy. Our former class monitor has stooped so low he’s now your flunky?”
Na Qingyang pointed toward the residential area. “Me? Stooped low? See that building over there? The tallest one? That’s mine. And see that lake and the houses being built near it? Once the villas are done, I’m picking one first.”
“Stop, you’re gonna make me cry.” Zhou Haojie’s girlfriend went over and grabbed Wang Bo’s arm, playfully shaking it. “Leader Wang, do you still need any flunkies?”
“Yeah, I wanna cling to that thigh too!” Song Tiantian joked half-seriously.
Hou Haibo smirked. “Old Wang’s legs are so thin, and they’re already full of people hanging on. But I know there’s still some room between them for a certain—”
“Monkey, are you looking to die? What nonsense are you spouting?” His girlfriend glared at him, eyes sharp. Hou Haibo immediately went silent.
“Up the mountain! Into the castle!” Wang Bo laughed.
“Why aren’t you riding your horse?” Zhou Haojie asked.
“If I ride up, it’ll hurt the horse’s joints,” Wang Bo explained. “They’re gonna be on the track soon, so I have to protect them. I haven’t even fitted them with horseshoes yet.”
He had considered giving Tuhao Jin horseshoes for protection, but Mackson had told him it wasn’t necessary before full training. Since the horses only ran on soft grass, bare hooves were actually better.
Halfway up, the usually quiet Zhang Rui asked, “Can I smoke?”
“Of course. Make yourself at home,” Wang Bo replied.
Zhang Rui smiled, squatted on a rock, lit a cigarette, and looked down the slope. “This view… this scenery… absolutely breathtaking!”
“I wanna immigrate here,” Zhao Xiaohui sighed wistfully. “Living somewhere like this—you’d definitely live longer.”
Wang Bo waved his hand. “If you want to immigrate, I can help. How about moving right here to my town? The potential here is huge.”
Zhao Xiaohui shook her head quickly. “I’m just saying. A golden nest or a silver nest isn’t better than your own home. Sure, things aren’t perfect back home, but my parents, relatives, and friends are all there. It’s good enough.”
Just then, a loud roar came from the castle—and out ran Little Wang.
A massive beast charging out of nowhere startled everyone. The screams grew even louder.
Little Wang, after all, was a strong, fierce liguar—a lion-tiger hybrid. Even in casual movement, his eyes gleamed coldly, his stride exuding the dominance of a top predator.
Na Qingyang laughed so hard he nearly doubled over. “Guess we really should rename it Screaming Town!”
Then the commander flew out, squawking, “Ah! Back! Ah! Commissar bad!”
The commissar parrot—now fully covered in yellow feathers—burst out angrily and dove into Wang Bo’s arms, complaining, “Ah! Commander bite me!”
Wang Bo laughed. “You can say ‘ah’ now too?”
The commissar blinked. “Commander bad, commissar not bad, ah!”
Wang Bo introduced Little Wang, the fat cat brothers, and the parrots to everyone.
Song Tiantian pursed her lips and smiled. “So this place has become a zoo now, huh?”
Almost as if to prove her right, a few proud, muscular wood pigeons swooped down into the courtyard.
The clicking of camera shutters resumed at once.
Wang Bo opened up the rooms, telling everyone to pick whichever they liked. Fan Dong grabbed his suitcase and dashed into the one with the biggest balcony and best view. “Whoever dares compete with me, I’ll destroy them!”
After a long journey—first by plane, then a long bus ride—everyone was exhausted. The novelty of Sunset Town had kept them energized, but once they picked rooms, they soon dozed off in the comforting heart of the castle.
Meanwhile, Wang Bo and Na Qingyang began preparing dinner.
He told Kobe to start on some dishes, had Ian butcher a calf and two lambs, prepared some pigs and poultry, and pulled a big ham from the kitchen.
Then he called Anderson, asking him to bring five or six barrels of beer after work. With that, the party was fully arranged.
After hanging up, Wang Bo smacked his lips with satisfaction. Being the boss sure feels good.
By evening, one by one, everyone woke up yawning and walked out.
Fan Dong, arriving near the dining area, sniffed the air. “Smells amazing.”
Eva stepped out with a smile. “I baked some pastries. Please, have a taste. If you like them, I’ll be very happy.”
“Whoa—super beauty!” The men’s eyes practically lit up.
“Too bad she’s my wife,” Wang Bo added with a grin. “Sorry, boys—this beauty’s taken.”
