HLM – Chapter 64 D-A-V

Happy Little Mayor 6 min read 64 of 1443 11

This one was already familiar. Wang Bo glanced at it, then pulled out the sandbox and placed the soul core into Zhuang Ding’s body.

The Pet Soul immediately fused into Zhuang Ding. Now, on the sandbox, Zhuang Ding’s appearance was surrounded by a layer of green glow.

Wang Bo wanted to see what changes would occur in Zhuang Ding after obtaining the Soul of the Heart, so he opened his mouth and shouted, “Zhuang Ding, come here! Come to Daddy!”

Very soon, the tiger-like Zhuang Ding came snorting and puffing towards him. Charlie followed closely behind, holding a tablet in his hand, looking extremely exasperated. “Sh*t! Don’t yell like that! Zhuang Ding was just starting to take interest in D-A-V, and you ruined it!”

“What? D-A-V?” Wang Bo asked blankly.

Charlie grinned wickedly. “DOG-A-V, short for D-A-V, get it?”

He tapped on the tablet, and cheerful barking sounds started playing.

Zhuang Ding came up and placed his front paws on Wang Bo’s knee, standing upright and meeting his eyes. His pretty brown eyes blinked, looking more spirited than before.

Wang Bo reached out and patted Zhuang Ding’s head. The little guy immediately pressed its head against Wang Bo’s chest, nuzzling like it was trying to act cute.

Charlie brought the tablet close to Zhuang Ding’s eyes. Zhuang Ding continued to nuzzle Wang Bo while gazing intently at the screen, not blinking at all, looking completely engrossed.

Charlie was quite satisfied with this and said, “Zhuang Ding’s finally growing up. Very good. He’s starting to accept D-A-V. That means his endocrine system is changing.”

The Commander flapped his wings and flew out, first calling out midair, “Ah, ah, the Commander is here!”

Charlie looked up at him and laughed. “You shouldn’t shout ‘the Commander is here,’ you should say, ‘the Chief has arrived!’ That’s much more impressive, understand?”

The Commander rolled his tiny eyes and said disdainfully, “Ah, ah, your mom exploded!”

“Hey, you little mutt!”

“Quick, call him ‘Mom,’” Wang Bo added fuel to the fire, enjoying the chaos.

The Commander had been learning to talk from Wang Bo. Hearing him, it immediately turned to Charlie and called out, “Ah, Mom! Ah, Mom!”

Charlie clutched his chest and yelled at Wang Bo, “Your damn bird made my chest ache from anger!”

Seeing Zhuang Ding watching the screen so intently, the Commander grew curious and wanted to see too.

But as he got close, Zhuang Ding slapped him away with a paw, almost knocking him over.

Startled, the Commander flapped wildly to regain his balance and shouted, “Ah, Zhuang Ding! Ah, your mom exploded!”

Charlie, on the other hand, was grinning from ear to ear. “Did you see that, Old Wang? Did you see? D-A-V is working! Zhuang Ding is changing!”

Wang Bo curled his lips. He felt it was the second Soul of the Heart that was effective, but this thing was truly powerful. The moment it attached to Zhuang Ding, it boosted his confidence and dominance.

In his free time, the cowboy would ride a motorcycle to check on the livestock herds. Wang Bo thought it was unnecessary—he could just monitor them through the sandbox, and the cattle and sheep were all doing well.

But the cowboy insisted, so Wang Bo had to bring Zhuang Ding along to learn how to manage the animals.

The motorcycle was far too loud. Its roaring engine scared the lambs and calves into a wild frenzy.

Wang Bo shouted, “This won’t do! You’ll scare the little ones!”

Cowboy: “What? What did you say? I can’t hear you!”

“Woof woof woof!”

As the motorcycle slowed, Wang Bo set Zhuang Ding down on the grass. The Mastiff was growing stronger by the day, and now with the Soul of the Heart, he was even more formidable.

Back on the grass, Zhuang Ding sprinted with his thick limbs like a cannonball—majestic and powerful.

Bowen tried to teach Zhuang Ding how to herd the sheep, but Zhuang Ding ignored him completely. No matter what Bowen said or how he taught, Zhuang Ding just kept running circles around Wang Bo.

The cowboy was helpless and scolded, “God above knows, I’ve never seen such a useless dog before! And it’s a mastiff!”

Wang Bo glared at him. “Can’t take a dump and blaming gravity? Watch this. Zhuang Ding,” he pointed forward, “see those little lambs? Drive them off the hillside!”

Zhuang Ding stuck out his tongue and followed the direction of Wang Bo’s finger. His ears twitched a few times, then he bolted forward and successfully drove the lambs off the hill.

“Sh*t!” The cowboy’s eyes bulged wider than his mouth.

Two Merino rams, either quarreling over their lovely ewes or just because of a disagreement, locked horns in combat.

Wang Bo raised his hand again and shouted, “Zhuang Ding! Go, separate them!”

Zhuang Ding dashed over like a whirlwind and opened his mouth, roaring like a king: “Woof woof woof woof! Woof woof woof woof!”

Rams were notoriously stubborn. Though they backed off a few steps after being barked at, they soon regained their footing and charged at each other again, relentless as ever.

Zhuang Ding was furious. How dare you ignore Daddy Mastiff’s command? No words, just bite!

He pounced and aimed for a ram—but smartly avoided the dangerous horns and went straight for the butt.

However, the ram was a seasoned fighter and twisted its hind leg outward, kicking Zhuang Ding in the side and sending him rolling across the grass.

Wang Bo was startled. Luckily, the grass was thick. Otherwise, Zhuang Ding could’ve been seriously hurt.

The little guy was frightened and came running back to Wang Bo for comfort and affection. Clearly, the Soul of the Heart hadn’t fully transformed him yet.

The cowboy blocked him, face gloomy. “For the love of my God, Zhuang Ding, can you show a bit of courage? You’re a mastiff! Go bite them—bite them hard!”

Zhuang Ding sniffled and looked pitifully at Wang Bo, refusing to move.

The cowboy sneered. “Coward. Spineless mutt! Got hit and you’re just going to take it? Don’t you know how to fight back? Think hard—what should you do?”

While yelling, the cowboy kicked Zhuang Ding’s butt to rile him up.

The result: Zhuang Ding, without hesitation, turned around, mimicked the ram’s pose, and kicked the cowboy square in the shin.

A blow to the shin hurts badly. The cowboy hopped on one leg, clutching the other and cursing, “F**k! Zhuang Ding, you bastard—oh, sh*t! Oh Lord above!”

Zhuang Ding didn’t stop there. He circled behind the cowboy and delivered another solid kick to his other leg, toppling him into the grass.

Wang Bo was overjoyed. “Bowen! How’s that for an attack from Zhuang Ding?”

The cowboy roared in anger, “Boss, and you’re happy about this?! You’re spoiling him! If this goes on, he’ll be untrainable when he grows up!”

But Wang Bo had full confidence in Zhuang Ding. He hugged the little guy’s head and encouraged him, then pointed at the two still-fighting rams and said, “Go teach them a lesson!”

Zhuang Ding widened his eyes, bared his pale, sharp fangs, and finally launched a fierce assault. He rammed one of the rams in the neck from the side and bit down viciously, making the ram bleat in terror and surrender without resistance!
