Looking at the little one who was still young but already had the early form of a massive beast, Wang Bo felt a bit helpless.
When he had researched ligers before, he learned that this kind of creature was born with genetic defects. They were naturally gentle, had low intelligence, and couldn’t survive in the wild. They were merely the products of human laboratories.
After understanding all this, he had thought: as long as he gave the little guy a Pet Heart, then once it became intelligent, it would surely regain the pride and ferocity of a lion or a tiger.
But he didn’t know if the Pet Heart wasn’t dominant enough or if Little Wang was just inherently timid and introverted. Either way, even after receiving the Pet Heart, it still showed a constant expression of “Baby’s scared!” no matter what it was doing.
When Zhuang Ding first arrived at the castle, he had a timid personality too. But after receiving a Pet Heart, he became confident and had now grown into an outstanding Mastiff.
But not Little Wang. Its personality remained the same. It was like it had the soul of Lin Daiyu inside—it would tear up for no reason, and fall into melancholy at the drop of a hat…
Besides that, ligers had another genetic flaw—they lacked the gene that suppressed growth, so they could grow like crazy.
A lion and tiger can produce two kinds of hybrid offspring: a male tiger and a lioness produce a tigon, while a male lion and a tigress produce a liger.
Logically, in the lion and tiger species, the strongest individuals are the male lion and the female tiger. But somehow, when the strongest combine, their offspring end up being the weakest. Wang Bo found this hard to accept.
He didn’t know how old Little Wang was, but in less than a month since arriving at the castle, it had grown significantly larger, probably weighing over thirty kilograms already. It was growing at a frightening pace.
Unfortunately, it only grew in size, not in courage. Like this, it still couldn’t survive in the wild.
On the bright side, thanks to the Pet Heart, Little Wang was different from ordinary ligers. Its physical attributes were much better. Just looking at the speed it crawled on the carpet, you could sense the incredible vitality contained in its body.
Noticing Wang Bo’s frustration, Bartier smiled and said, “Wang, I think you’re being too impatient. Based on age, your Little Wang is still a baby. When it grows up, it’ll probably be different. Besides, maybe it just needs some training. You should train it.”
That made some sense. However, training Little Wang wasn’t urgent—its legs still hadn’t fully recovered—but the Crown Princes could be trained now.
He had raised the Rottweilers to be sheepdogs. He hadn’t had the chance due to the earthquake, but now they had grown a bit and were ready for training.
There just so happened to be six cowboys, so Wang Bo took the Crown Princes down and said to the Beebe brothers and Cousins’ crew, “Alright, guys, pick a dog. From now on, it’ll be your partner.”
The Crown Princes were chasing and playing on the grass, unaware that they were about to be put to work. They were having the time of their lives.
Edison tried to snatch the biggest one—the Eldest Prince—but Ian shoved him aside and grabbed it with his large hands, laughing, “Big guys drive big trucks. This one’s mine. Look at its size—perfect match for me, right?”
Little Beebe gave him the finger and sneered, “Hey man, yeah it suits you, but not in size—more like in looks.”
“No joke, they really do look alike. Ian, what’s your mom’s last name?”
“Dude, once that dog grows up, we probably won’t be able to tell you two apart.”
“Maybe that dog’s actually his kid? Oh sh*t, Queen, I was just joking! Are you opening your mouth to bite me?”
Queen closed her mouth in annoyance. Big Beebe, who had been stared down by her, was drenched in cold sweat. “Sh*t, is this dog too smart? It feels like she understands what I’m saying. You guys get that vibe too?”
Wang Bo clapped his hands. “Alright, alright, fellas. You’ve got your dogs—now it’s time to train them. I’ll handle the training, but you all need to learn to handle them later.”
With Zhuang Ding and Queen by his side, he strolled around the ranch. The Crown Princes happily wagged their tails and followed. Suddenly, a giant sand locust jumped out of the grass, and the pups immediately chased after it.
The giant sand locust had extremely developed hind legs and could leap in astonishing bounds.
When it noticed the pups running toward it, its black eyes showed a look of disdain. With a powerful kick of its legs, it soared away with a whoosh.
The Crown Princes chased it for a bit but soon lost sight of the target. The clumsy little guys looked at each other in confusion, then resumed goofing off together.
Wang Bo whistled to call the silly pups back, but they completely ignored him and continued to play.
“Queen!” he looked back at the big Rottweiler, “Can you get them over here?”
Queen raised her head regally and let out a few commanding barks. The little Rottweilers glanced at her briefly… then completely disregarded her and continued playing.
That did it—Queen was pissed. She ran over and used her front paws like bowling balls, smacking the pups toward Wang Bo.
The little dogs rolled around on the grass like balls. Eventually, they seemed to enjoy rolling so much that they refused to walk and insisted on being bowled forward instead.
Wang Bo broke into a cold sweat. He was starting to worry about today’s task. Without Pet Hearts, these puppies were unbelievably dumb—it was clear they wouldn’t be easy to train.
A few lambs ran into the cattle herd, and the Minotaur lowered its head, trying to butt them out. Wang Bo waved, and the two big dogs sprinted over—Zhuang Ding barked at the Minotaur to make it back off, while Queen herded the lambs out.
Wang Bo signaled for the Crown Princes to watch and learn, but they didn’t get it. The fluffy little guys just sat on the ground with confused expressions, their fuzzy faces full of puzzlement.
“Damn it, they’re stupid but cute,” Wang Bo muttered helplessly.
The parrot commander immediately picked up on it and shouted loudly, “Ah ah, you damn dumbass!”
The puppies got excited hearing the parrot. They jumped and barked, scaring the fearless little bird so much it flapped its wings and flew away.
The pair of white cranes saw Wang Bo, circled once in the air, then flew toward nearby Lake Havia—clearly off to hunt some small fish.
But when the pups saw the cranes, they got all riled up again, lifting their heads and howling at the sky.
Wang Bo flicked each of them on the forehead and sternly said, “Calm down! Come here, I’m going to tell you the story of The Little Cat Fishing. You can’t be distracted when doing something, understand?”
“Alright, let’s start training. Sit! Everyone sit—hey! Damn it, Eldest Prince, get back here! Don’t chase that rabbit!”
“Second Prince, don’t you dare bully Number Six! Sit down! Sit!”
“Come here! Line up! Time for training! F**k! Don’t bite my shoes—training, now!”
Wang Bo shouted out all kinds of commands to the puppies, but they didn’t listen at all. They just kept running around and playing, leaving him so furious his chest hurt. He couldn’t stop rubbing it in frustration.
