HLM -Chapter 1440 Wish Fulfilled

Happy Little Mayor 6 min read 1440 of 1443 3

Under Father Rooney’s guidance, the wedding proceeded smoothly. Everything went according to plan, culminating in the exchange of wedding rings.

Here, Wang Bo and Eva pulled a little stunt—they hadn’t brought any rings. At this moment, Wang Bo whistled and gestured toward the church ceiling.

The commander and the Commissar were waiting there. Seeing his signal, they immediately flew down.

Two small parrots appeared: one dressed in a gentleman’s tailcoat, the other in a delicate lace dress, like tiny little sprites circling down from above.

Each held a small ornate box in its beak. Upon landing, Commander perched on Wang Bo’s arm and handed him the box, immediately saying, “Ah, the Commissar is naughty.”

The Commissar, feeling wronged, told Eva, “I wear clothes, not dresses.”

Both Commander and the Commissar were male parrots. To make the ring exchange look more beautiful, warm, and touching, Adrian had dressed the Commissar in the floral dress.

Originally, Commander didn’t want to wear a tailcoat, so they put a dress on him, but the little bird clearly understood the concept of gender and stubbornly refused, lying on the ground pretending to be dead.

The Commissar also resisted, though less intensely, and as the saying goes, “the child who cries gets the milk,” so the task of wearing the dress fell to the Commissar.

Hearing the Commissar’s words, Charlie and Hani laughed, but there were no microphones around the newlyweds, so the guests couldn’t hear. When the little parrots delivered the rings, everyone stood up and applauded.

Wang Bo paid no mind to the birds. He opened the ring box and exchanged rings with Eva, while the others did the same.

Seeing this, Father Rooney declared loudly, “According to the will of the Lord and God, I hereby pronounce you as lawful spouses!”

The couple kissed, the guests cheered, and the ceremony concluded. Next came the gifting and blessing segment, which would take place in the castle. After that, the wedding banquet would begin.

Under the security team’s arrangement, the newlyweds left first, entered the car, and returned to the castle.

At the castle entrance, they awaited the arrival of guests. The bride held the groom’s arm as guests approached and offered blessings like “May your love last a hundred years” and “May you grow old together.” Wang Bo quickly grew tired of hearing such phrases.

In a normal wedding, there would also be a gift-opening session. Since Bowen and Zhong Dabo had invited only a few guests, the number of gifts was small and could be opened immediately.

For Wang Bo’s side, there were too many guests to open gifts individually and thank everyone, so they collected the gifts after offering brief thanks.

However, the final gifts came from distinguished guests, and to show respect, Wang Bo and Eva opened these gifts on the spot.

Since the other guests had already been escorted to the banquet hall by the staff, only a few remained, so there was no risk of people feeling slighted.

The Alexanders’ gift was an embroidered tapestry. On the soft, smooth silk were two black cranes flying in unison, crafted with exquisite detail. The feathers appeared layered and three-dimensional.

“This is beautiful,” Eva said, smiling as she unrolled it. “Are these our cranes? I think they are—I can recognize them.”

Alexander proudly said, “Vajona loved embroidery and tapestry work when she was in China. This is a piece she created with one of her teachers.”

Vajona, linking her arm with him, said with a smile, “I initially wanted to embroider mandarin ducks, but Fan Sail reminded me that in Sunset Town, there is a pair of birds even more devoted to each other—the two black cranes. So we chose them to send you our blessings.”

Wang Bo nodded. “Thank you so much for this gift. It’s wonderful. In China, black cranes also symbolize longevity. This gift brings love and long life—isn’t that every couple’s wish?”

Vajona replied, “Exactly. I must clarify: while I contributed to the tapestry, most of the work was done by my teacher. I hope this doesn’t affect your appreciation of it.”

Eva hugged her. “Of course, we understand.”

Even without the explanation, Wang Bo could tell this tapestry wasn’t solely Vajona’s work: it was far too intricate to be done by an amateur, and as one of the Green Party leaders, Vajona certainly didn’t have time for such elaborate embroidery.

Later, Bartier arrived with his son. Little Bartier carried a small suitcase and said with a smile, “Uncle Wang, Aunt Eva, congratulations on your wedding. I’m very happy to attend—it’s the best wedding I’ve ever seen.”

Wang Bo teased, “Your words are sweeter than honey, young man. I like them. By the way, how many weddings have you attended?”

Little Bartier smiled even brighter. “Uh, just one—the one I’m attending now. I’ve never liked such lively events before.”

Wang Bo looked at the overbearing CEO and shrugged, “What am I even supposed to say to that?”

Bartier patted his son’s shoulder affectionately. “You can laugh. Come on, child, show them our gift. I bet they’ll like it.”

Little Bartier handed the suitcase to Wang Bo. Opening it, Wang Bo saw a set of cards.

The cards were embedded in fine velvet and came in twelve different colors, a total of twenty-four. Each featured the logo of South Pacific Bank and a long card number.

In the center were various scenic designs: coral reefs, Christmas theme parks, firefly caves, floating cabins, party celebrations, and Flame Mountain Bar, among others.

Wang Bo picked up one card in astonishment. On the back, multiple lines were written in different languages: “Welcome to charming Sunset Town.”

“These are bank cards?” he asked.

“Yes. These are Sunset Town tourism cards our bank is about to issue. The top twelve are savings cards, the bottom twelve are credit cards, targeting young people and tourists. What do you think?” Bartier asked with a smile.

Wang Bo’s face lit up. “What do I think? I think this is amazing! You might not know, old friend, but when I first came to New Zealand and opened a bank account, I made a big wish…”

“To have all four major New Zealand banks issue a set of cards featuring Sunset Town?” Bartier interrupted, laughing.

Hearing this, Wang Bo’s expression shifted from joy to shock. “How did you know? Did Charlie tell you?!”

Bartier smiled and nodded. “He mentioned it once, and I thought it was a great idea.”

He closed the case, turned around, and waved his hand. More people came over—managers from the other three of the four major banks in Sunset Town. Each of them was carrying an identical case. When they opened them, inside were also batches of bank cards!
