The leopard cats were dragged back, and the pet owners began soothing their own animals. Slowly, the atmosphere in the hall calmed down.
When Little Meng returned, Wang Bo glared at them with a murderous look, his jaw muscles twitching continuously.
The pets could sense that he was genuinely angry, so they obediently squatted down.
The instigator, Princess, crawled into the Queen’s arms and peeked out with half her tiny, pointed face. Seeing that Wang Bo was still angry, she quickly withdrew.
The doctors prioritized giving shots to the pets Wang Bo had brought. Others didn’t mind this line-cutting at all and were even happy to give way:
“Let these little brats get their shots first, get it over with quickly.”
“Hurry up and take them away, who knows what else might happen.”
“Step aside, let the mayor take Little Wang over.”
“The mayor, Little Wang isn’t cooperating, right? Can’t drag him? No problem, Powell, come help, we’ll carry him in.”
So, dragging and pulling, Little Wang was sent into the treatment room, looking both wronged and hopeless.
Wang Bo sighed helplessly and shouted, “Stop making that pitiful ‘forced into prostitution’ face!”
The doctor opened a drawer and pulled out a syringe that looked like an air pump. Little Wang’s eyes went wide, and he immediately turned to run.
Seeing such a syringe, even Wang Bo was afraid. He asked, “Is that for cows?”
The doctor nodded. “Yes, but Little Wang is stronger than a cow, so we need this syringe. What’s the matter?”
“Nothing, just go ahead!” Wang Bo held Little Wang by the neck and dragged him back.
Soon, a lion’s roar sounded: “Roar!”
After the two injections, Little Wang was brought out, limping on one hind leg, his big eyes brimming with tears.
This scared the big guys even more; they also lay down and started throwing tantrums.
But this time, Wang Bo didn’t need to intervene. He pointed at one of them, and Little Wang opened his mouth, swallowed its upper body in one bite, and dragged it into the treatment room.
The pets’ “soul hearts” had already reached level four. Their intelligence was roughly on par with children, so they understood many things—like fairness and justice.
Little Wang had suffered, so the other pets trying to escape? Not on his watch!
When the big guy came out, there were now two helping with the chores.
After the shots, Wang Bo paid the vet fees and left with the pets.
Everyone in the pet hospital—owners, doctors, and nurses—finally breathed a sigh of relief.
One doctor opened the door: “Mayor, no need to go through all this trouble next time. Just call us, we’ll come to you.”
“Yes, yes, home service.”
Wang Bo laughed: “No need to make such a fuss. I may be the mayor, but I don’t want to enjoy privileges…”
“No, no, not at all! Of course the mayor should have privileges. Next time, just call us—we’ll get there as fast as possible!”
This commotion left them all with a psychological shadow.
Wang Bo also had a shadow over him. He had hoped for a relaxing vacation, but these pets had thoroughly exhausted him.
After returning, he dropped the pets off at the animal yard and decided to drive around aimlessly.
The old tour guide, Rex, rode toward him on a bicycle, carrying two bottles of alcohol. Seeing Wang Bo, he waved: “Boss, want a drink?”
Wang Bo really wanted a drink. Ever since preparing for the boxing match, he hadn’t touched a drop of alcohol. Now, a drink might help him relax.
He nodded in agreement. The old guide brought the alcohol onto the car: “Let’s find a spot and have a drink.”
“Taking a break today?”
Rex nodded: “Yes, today and tomorrow we can rest. My goodness, so many tourists this past month, I wish I had two mouths.”
He was also a sort of influencer; many tourists wanted to join his tours.
Rex carried many stories and knew New Zealand well. Foreign tourists especially loved him. Just tell him where you want to go, and he would give excellent advice.
Wang Bo laughed: “I know you’re busy, but you’re not busier than me.”
Rex replied, “That’s why I never want to be a big boss. No matter how much I earn, I couldn’t handle that kind of pressure.”
With drinks and food needed, and wanting some quiet, Wang Bo chose Lake Hawea.
A Māori man paddled back in a canoe. Wang Bo said, “Hey, Chaninipura, can we borrow your boat? Is there a grill onboard?”
The Māori man grinned: “There’s charcoal in the stove. Feel free to use it.”
Wang Bo paddled the canoe while the old guide cast his fishing rod. They rowed toward the deeper part of the lake.
Floating balloons on the lake marked shrimp or crab traps. Wang Bo pulled one up, opened it, grabbed some crabs and large shrimp, and tossed them back.
The crabs thrashed arrogantly, but Wang Bo flipped them onto the grill, and soon they turned a bright red.
The guide caught two fish, cleaned them with a knife from his waist bag, brushed them with olive oil, and placed them on the grill.
“This weather isn’t bad at all, buddy,” Wang Bo said, gazing at the clear, blue autumn sky.
Rex nodded: “Yes, but if you love autumn skies, go to Fiordland National Forest Park. Autumn there is stunning; the sky seems to reflect your very soul.”
Wang Bo shook his head: “Forget it, I’m not sure my soul is beautiful.”
Rex took a sip from his bottle and laughed: “Honestly, I’ve never met an adult with a soul as pure as yours.”
Wang Bo drank too, the crisp beer sliding down his throat, the malt fragrance lingering in his mouth: “Thanks. I really just want to quietly look at my soul now.”
He leaned over the canoe, looking at his reflection in the clear water.
A jetboat roared from afar. Wang Bo quickly shouted: “Hey, there’s a boat here—slow down!”
The jetboat splashed huge waves, blocking their view. Their canoe was low, almost hugging the water.
By the time the jetboat noticed them, it was too late.
Seeing the canoe right in front, they apparently thoughtlessly just rammed it.
The canoe couldn’t withstand the collision. The two vessels collided, the canoe capsized instantly, and the jetboat sped on without stopping to apologize!
Wang Bo instantly got furious. He summoned a sand table in the water, quickly located his position, and slapped the jetboat.
The collision affected the jetboat’s stability and balance. When Wang Bo struck again, it rocked violently and inevitably capsized on the lake.
