HLM -Chapter 1365 Husband, Please Have Some Tea

Happy Little Mayor 6 min read 1365 of 1443 3

Just after the Minor New Year festival, Wang Bo’s home became lively.

Early in the morning, before the sun had risen, Wang Bo got up to wake Eva and drove her to a wedding company in the county town for makeup.

Eva lazily said, “Honey, can we keep it simple? I don’t think heavy makeup suits me. I don’t want to look like Zhou’s wife, Li.”

When Zhou Haojie married Li Jiayi, Wang Bo had taken Eva to their wedding. Seeing that bride’s makeup, Eva had been utterly shocked.

Wang Bo kissed her and said, “Yes, this time it will be light makeup. Let’s go; we’ll get ready and be back soon.”

Eva, still half-asleep, looked out the window and said, “If that’s the case, it shouldn’t take long. Why did we have to get up so early?”

Wang Bo replied, “Because the early morning in our hometown is beautiful. I didn’t want you to miss it.”

“You’re lying. It’s definitely going to take a long time to do makeup,” Eva pouted.

Wang Bo picked her up and said, “Alright, now that you realize this, it means you’re awake and your little head isn’t foggy anymore. Get up, let’s go!”

In Wang Bo’s hometown, weddings mainly involved inviting relatives and friends, so he didn’t plan anything extravagant. To him, the wedding was mainly a formality for Eva and his business partners.

Most of his contacts were in New Zealand; he had almost none in China. Eva’s anticipation for the wedding was all centered on the Sunset Town group wedding, so she didn’t want a grand traditional wedding in his hometown either.

Eva wasn’t familiar with the customs of his hometown. The repeated kneeling and kowtowing made her uncomfortable.

Wang Bo had arranged a wedding company to handle all pre-meal preparations. He and Eva only needed to follow the process.

When they left, Wang Zheng drove over, starting to unload items from the car.

Seeing this, Wang Bo walked over and offered him a cigarette. “Here so early?”

Wang Zheng smiled. “It’s a banquet for flowing guests. This kind of thing isn’t easy; I need to prepare everything in advance so there won’t be mistakes.”

Makeup was mainly a hassle for Eva. She had to do her hair, braiding her golden hair into small plaits arranged on her head in a crown style.

The hairstylist had been brought from Linhai City, arranged by Song Zijun; otherwise, no one would want to travel to the county town so early in the morning.

Wang Bo’s preparation was simple—just some powder and slight contouring of his features, then changing into his underwear and putting on the red Tang-style wedding outfit.

Zhou Haojie and others had arrived early, along with Li Xing and others returning home for the New Year. Wang Bo had arranged for his old classmates to stay at a hotel in the county town for convenience.

This time, his classmates came just to attend the wedding. Since they usually spent a lot of time together, there was no need for a reunion. Most had just arrived yesterday and would return tomorrow.

For them, the opportunity to reunite with family was even rarer, so they made the most of returning home for the New Year.

Wang Bo changed into his Tang suit and Ma jacket and stepped out. Song Jiashu pondered and shook his head. “Something’s off. Come take a look. I feel like something’s missing.”

“No need to look, it’s missing a hat—the melon-seed cap,” Zhou Haojie said.

Everyone at Song’s side suddenly understood. “Yes, yes, that’s it! Mouse wore one back then, right?”

“Right. Wang Bo said he looked like a wealthy landlord.”

“Who cares what he looked like. Go, find him one to wear.”

Wang Bo glared. “Behave yourselves today! It’s your brother’s big day. Don’t mess around. I’m the chief planner; whatever I say goes.”

Zhou Haojie sneered. “Oh, such authority. How did you mess with me at my wedding? Just so you know, tonight I’m definitely going to prank the bridal chamber!”

“We’re joining too. That’s why we chose to go home tomorrow. I’ve been waiting to prank the bridal chamber tonight,” Fan Dong said with mischief.

Wang Bo said, “Forgot what Eva said?”

“What? Did she bring a gun back? I don’t believe you could get through customs with guns!” Zhou Haojie said.

They had originally planned to prank Wang Bo and Eva’s bridal chamber, but Eva wasn’t afraid—she had a gun. However, for this wedding in the hometown, she didn’t have it.

Wang Bo said, “Even without a gun, Eva is still very capable.”

Li Xing said, “Don’t worry about it. She can’t beat me.”

Wang Bo: “Fuck!”

Everyone burst out laughing.

Besides her hairstyle, Eva had to wear a xiuhé dress with a phoenix coronet and long embroidered veil. The whole process was intricate and time-consuming.

Wang Bo tried to push the door to peek in, but a makeup artist stopped him with a smile. “Groom, please wait. You cannot see the bride until her makeup is complete.”

“I’ve seen her give birth; why can’t I see her for makeup?” Wang Bo complained.

“This is our tradition.”

“Fine,” Wang Bo nodded. If it was tradition, there was nothing to argue about.

Zhou Haojie laughed beside him. “What’s the matter? Nervous?”

Wang Bo shook his head. “Nervous? I’ve been through big events before!”

Zhou Qingyang pointed at his eyes. “Wang Bo is definitely nervous. Look at his left eyebrow—it twitches whenever he’s nervous and speaks.”

Wang Bo pushed him away. “You’re such a jerk. I know, that’s enough. Don’t say anything.”

At 7:30, the makeup room door opened, and a slender figure emerged.

Wearing a phoenix coronet and a red xiuhé dress, Eva looked resplendent. The elaborate costume made her waist look slightly bulky, but her tall figure carried it gracefully, exuding an elegant and majestic aura.

Her delicate features were enhanced by light makeup. Arched eyebrows and violet eyeliner gave her a slight upward tilt at the corners of her eyes. When she smiled softly, her gaze left Wang Bo utterly stunned.

They had shared a bed for over a thousand nights, yet Eva still possessed a lethal charm.

“Husband, please have some tea,” Eva said, leaning slightly forward and elegantly extending both arms. The jade and gold ornaments on her phoenix coronet jingled softly.

Wang Bo instinctively helped her steady herself, dumbfounded. “I never knew you could look so beautiful in traditional attire.”

Eva smiled. “It’s because you think I’m beautiful. No matter what I wear, I’ll look beautiful.”

The wedding company owner beside them said, “Your husband isn’t just complimenting you. Honestly, I’ve worked in weddings for over ten years, seen countless brides, but very few can wear their attire with this effect. And you’re a foreign girl.”

Embarrassed, he asked, “May we take some promotional photos with you after the wedding?”

Eva shook her head. “Sorry, we’ll be returning to New Zealand soon after the wedding.”
