HLM – Chapter 134 Residential Area Construction Begins

Happy Little Mayor 6 min read 134 of 1443 11

Because of his illness, little Bartier couldn’t play with his energetic peers. He couldn’t keep up with their pace, and he didn’t want to try, either.

A young boy’s heart is always too sensitive. Watching other kids play sports full of life and chase after girls, while he could only lie weakly and rest — it was clearly not a pleasant feeling.

Wang Bo understood this. If he could, he was willing to help the boy out, but he couldn’t possibly sell the little parrot.

Little Bartier didn’t get up until eight in the morning — a full twelve hours of sleep.

Still in his pajamas, the thin boy walked out and smiled brightly when he saw Bartier, then said happily, “Dad, I slept really well. I didn’t dream about Mom and my little sister.”

Bartier smiled too, his joy evident, but his eyes sparkled as if tears were about to fall.

Wang Bo took note of the boy’s words and became thoughtful. It seemed the root of his problems lay with his mother and sister.

After all, sleep disorders and anorexia aren’t diseases in themselves. As long as one could rest well and eat to replenish energy, the body would recover.

Of course, little Bartier’s case was more severe. Even after waking up, he was still listless, but compared to the zombie-like state he had been in yesterday, he was already much improved.

During breakfast, despite the gourmet meal prepared by top chefs hired by Christie’s, the boy had little appetite. He forced himself to drink a cup of yogurt, eat half a piece of bread, and a slice of watermelon before stopping.

On the other side, Bartier was still eating heartily. Wang Bo noticed that this CEO, who didn’t look fat at all, actually had quite the appetite.

The sensitive boy noticed Wang Bo’s gaze and leaned in to whisper, “I’ll tell you a secret, Lord Sir — my dad can eat half a roast turkey by himself at Christmas!”

Wang Bo was shocked — but not by the secret, rather by the way the boy had addressed him. Lord Sir?!

A cold sweat broke out on his back, and Wang Bo instinctively asked, “Wh-why are you calling me Lord Sir?”

The boy smiled and replied, “My dad told me. He said all the land here belongs to you, and the castle too. So that makes you a lord.”

Wang Bo laughed awkwardly. He’d been too sensitive — so that was all it was.

After breakfast, the other wealthy guests and Adams also left. As they departed, each of them expressed sincere thanks to Wang Bo for letting them stay in the castle, saying they had rested very well here.

Bartier stayed behind with his son. After hearing those remarks, a thoughtful look appeared on his face.

Adams was the second-to-last to leave. He shook hands with Wang Bo and promised to transfer the money as soon as everything checked out on his end. He assured Wang Bo that he would receive his rightful share as soon as possible.

This was the thing Wang Bo cared most about. He couldn’t help it — that small-time farmer mindset was hard to shake.

The last to remain was a large helicopter decorated with cartoon characters like Superman, Iron Man, Captain America, and Wolverine. It was the flashy ride of a domineering CEO — an AW139 helicopter. Charlie said it cost over 10 million New Zealand dollars, making it one of the most high-end business helicopters.

Once everyone had gone, Bartier came up to Wang Bo and asked, “Wang, I hope I’m not being too forward, but would it be alright if my son and I stayed for another two days?”

Wang Bo was momentarily stunned, then quickly waved it off, saying, “Of course it’s alright. Just look at this castle — so many rooms! I always welcome guests. To be honest, I was hoping you’d stay. After all, who would refuse a bank president’s request?”

Bartier chuckled and said, “Well, I’m not a president right now — I’m a salesman. I heard you’ve been banking with ANZ? Interested in switching to Westpac?”

Westpac was New Zealand’s second-largest bank. Like ANZ, it was headquartered in Australia, and the New Zealand branch was just a subsidiary.

Wang Bo shrugged and made a greedy face on purpose. “If you don’t give me some perks, I’m not switching. You know me — I’m about to become a billionaire client.”

Bartier smiled subtly. “What if I said I’m considering opening a branch here in the town? How’s that for a perk?”

Wang Bo looked at him in surprise and laughed. “You’re joking with me. I know you’re joking, man.”

Bartier replied, “All my friends know that when I talk business, I never joke. Why are you so surprised? Sunset Town doesn’t have any banks. It’s only natural for us to come in and grab the market, isn’t it?”

Wang Bo was overjoyed. The town was making another solid step forward — they were going to have a bank!

So, Bartier and his son stayed at the castle, and Wang Bo stayed with them to keep them company.

Soon after, Hani called. “Boss, you need to come to town for work. Don’t tell me you’re skipping again today.”

Wang Bo protested, “Why are you using the word again? Listen, buddy, I’m on a serious mission here. The president of Westpac is in town. I’m accompanying him on an inspection tour, trying to secure investment from the bank.”

Hani paused for a moment, then said with growing excitement, “That’s great news, boss. Keep it up! Go secure that bank!”

There wasn’t much entertainment in the territory, but the flowers and grass at the ranch were growing beautifully. The grass around was turning yellow and withering, but the pasture grass was still lush and green.

Wang Bo took the Good father-and-son duo to the ranch. There were all kinds of livestock and wild animals there, and because the animals were clean, it had its own unique charm.

After helping the ranch hands herd some sheep for a while, Wang Bo took a break and habitually opened up his Heart of the Lord system. Hey — the spin wheel had turned pale green again, ready for use.

He tapped it once, and after the pointer spun and stopped, another Heart of the Territory appeared.

It was another Residential Core. Wang Bo was overjoyed — compared to the seemingly more powerful Soul Core, this Residential Core was much more useful right now.

After all, the residential area of the town was about to break ground. With the Residential Core, the construction would go more smoothly.

He pulled open the sandbox map and placed the core in the designated residential area. Once the water and electricity systems were completed, the town could begin building its residential blocks.

As per his request, Tangren Hydraulic Engineering Co. had already started the work. Tan Yinhong had arranged two engineering teams: one to set up power lines from the power station, and another to dig trenches and lay down the water supply system.

According to the engineers, the ideal plan was to connect the water system from Oak City, but that would be too extensive — not a matter of cost, but of time.

So Wang Bo instructed them to draw water directly from Lake Hawea, drastically reducing the distance and saving more than half the labor time.
