HLM -Chapter 1326 The Arrival of the Big Plane

Happy Little Mayor 5 min read 1326 of 1443 24

Wang Bo spent the entire day hunting stoats with the little animals, and the results were remarkable. They caught over two hundred stoats, thoroughly cleaning up several areas of the ranch.

However, it was exhausting. The little creatures were excellent at “stealing kills,” and eventually developed a bad habit—they stopped seeking out stoats themselves and instead watched their companions. Whenever one of them spotted a stoat, a whole group would pounce from the dense grass to claim the kill. In the end, except for the Chinese rural dogs, none of the others bothered to hunt stoats anymore.

The Chinese rural dogs were the most hardworking and diligent. They became the MVPs of this stoat-hunting operation. Most of the stoats were caught by them, often returning with a catch every few minutes. Wang Bo made sure to bring the Chinese rural dogs back to the villa as well. At dinner, he cooked a rich beef and bone broth for them, letting them feast until their mouths were dripping with fat as a reward.

The other little creatures were also well-fed, but Wang Bo kept revolving his attention around the Chinese rural dogs. This made the other little animals jealous, and the next day, when they went out hunting stoats again, they worked much harder.

At this point, Wang Bo realized why so many people preferred spending time with these little creatures rather than with humans—they were incredibly pure and simple in comparison. Normally idle and bored, now they finally had something to do, and they seemed genuinely happy, likely deriving a sense of accomplishment from catching stoats.

So every day after breakfast, they would run around searching for stoats. Since stoats were also active at night, sometimes the little animals returned quite late. Over time, Wang Bo noticed that the activity ranges of the blue ducks and the pūkeko had greatly increased. While their numbers hadn’t changed significantly, their behavior had—they were no longer constantly alert or tense but had become much more relaxed.

By mid-December, the baby reached 100 days old. According to Wang Bo’s hometown customs, this was a significant milestone, a major celebration for the child. A day in advance, Wang Bo informed his close subordinates to attend a party. He also sent invitations to Sheriff Smith, Vice Chairman Alexander, the New Zealand Chinese United Association, and Yang Zhilong, the chairman of the Oceania Chinese Business Association, among others.

Initially, he had planned a full-moon celebration, but at that time, the weather was cold, and the baby was too small. With so many guests, a noisy gathering could be harmful to the child. After consulting with Eva, they decided to make the baby’s first major celebration the 100-day party instead.

Just as he was about to send out the invitations, the Learjet 40XR business jet he purchased from Bombardier was delivered.

The plane arrived on December 10, personally transported by Kato. Around noon, the jet broke through the clouds and gently landed at Sunset Town Airport.

The Learjet 40XR is a large aircraft, seventeen meters long with a wingspan of fifteen meters. Its sleek white exterior was adorned with traditional Chinese cloud patterns in bright red and gold. The glossy paint shimmered in the sunlight, almost blindingly.

Seeing the plane, Wang Bo breathed a sigh of relief. “Damn, it’s finally here.”

No wonder he cursed—it had been promised that the plane would be delivered by the time Eva gave birth. He had even planned to use it to transport her to Auckland or Wellington if necessary.

Unfortunately, in July, one of Bombardier’s engine subsidiaries experienced a massive worker strike, halting parts of the production line. Long negotiations ensued between management and the union. The union demanded no layoffs and higher wages for current employees, while management was willing to raise wages but insisted on layoffs due to the global economic slump and insufficient orders. This tug-of-war continued until Eva was about to give birth, only then did production on the Learjet 40XR resume.

Bombardier compensated Wang Bo in several ways: adding his family to the Oceania Aviation Alliance Gold VIP list, providing free performance upgrades for the jet, and hiring a pilot for him. Finally, the plane had arrived.

After the landing, Wang Bo took his family onboard for a look.

Business jets are vastly different from helicopters—the cabin was spacious and luxuriously decorated. Almost the entire floor was covered with thick handmade carpets, perfect for the child, reducing the risk of bumps and scrapes. The interior décor was predominantly wooden, crafted from high-quality nanmu, pine, and walnut, with exposed areas given a matte finish that felt as smooth as glass.

Inside, on the right side of the cabin, was a wide leather seat. Kato demonstrated that it could easily convert into a reclining bed. Knowing Wang Bo had a newborn daughter, Bombardier even modified one seat into a large cradle with adjustable sides.

On the left were two large sofa-style seats with a fiberglass table in between, consisting of four layers that could assemble into a large office desk. Most of the left side was designed as a small lounge, with a clever mini bar in the front-left corner for drinks.

Further back, the plane had a small kitchen, less than one square meter, for simple meal prep or reheating food—not for full-scale cooking. Wang Bo was slightly annoyed because the bathroom was directly opposite the kitchen—opening the toilet door led straight into the kitchen, and vice versa. This awkward layout made him uneasy.

He mentioned it to Kato, but Eva shook her head. “Don’t fuss over it, Xiao Bo. It’s fine—just enjoy that the plane has arrived. We won’t use it that often.”

Wang Bo replied, “Without a plane, we don’t travel by air. With a plane, we fly everywhere!”

Eva smiled. “Even to the bathroom we’d take the plane. Otherwise, how else could we reflect the status of Mayor Wang?”

Wang Bo laughed. “We don’t need everyone else to use it—soon we’ll have many guests for the baby’s 100-day party. Picking them up by plane is the ultimate face.”
