HLM -Chapter 1259 Queen Mom

The origin of farmer’s markets goes back to medieval Europe, when farmers would gather the fresh fruits, vegetables, and meat products from their fields to sell directly to nearby residents at low prices.

Wang Bo found this notion rather naive—it’s essentially no different from the traditional markets in China, which have existed for over two thousand years, dating back even to the Shang Dynasty.

Of course, farmer’s markets differ from traditional markets in certain ways. They have their own setup and operational characteristics—for example, local New Zealand farmer’s markets often incorporate regional customs and culture as part of their appeal, making them popular with tourists.

In Sunset Town, there was no space for a farmer’s market because the local department store carried everything—vegetables, fruits, and other goods were all available there.

But the real reason a farmer’s market couldn’t take off was that Wang Bo simply didn’t have enough supply. One farm and a vegetable garden alone weren’t enough.

Now, with Christian rallying support, at least forty or fifty farms expressed willingness to bring their produce to sell at the market.

This made Wang Bo immediately forget his plans to brew his own beer. He asked, “You’ll be bringing your own beer to sell, right?”

“Can we pay for our stalls with beer?” one farmer joked.

Wang Bo laughed and said, “Then you can stay at the market as long as you supply me with beer.”

That settled the matter. The farmers went back to plan their stalls, and Sunset Town began scouting locations to launch the farmer’s market.

Wang Bo personally took charge of the project. He had Juan recruit ten experienced vegetable growers. Once the market opened, his own vegetable garden could expand as well.

By early June, the weather finally cooled, and a heavy rain broke New Zealand’s dry spell. This autumn rain signaled the end of scorching sunlight and vibrant greenery—late autumn had arrived, and the temperature was dropping.

That morning, as Wang Bo was preparing to leave for work, Eva, with her large belly, put a coat on him and said, “Be careful, don’t catch a cold at this time.”

Wang Bo kissed her on the forehead, opened the car door, and asked the group of furry kids, “Who’s coming to work with me?”

Normally, the strongest dog would rush to the door first, but this time it didn’t appear, which puzzled Wang Bo.

Just as he was about to get in the car, a dog head suddenly appeared at the second-floor window—Zhuang Ding barked a few times, then disappeared again.

Wang Bo frowned. “Something’s off with Zhuang Ding… and the Queen? Wait, is she about to give birth?”

A dog’s gestation is usually two months. The Queen stopped mating with Williams when Wang Bo returned in early April, which was when she got pregnant. That made it exactly two months now.

Both the Queen and Eva were now heavily pregnant. Given the Queen’s size, she struggled to sit or lie comfortably, and Dale had to take care of her.

Hearing Wang Bo, Eva quickly said, “Go check on her, it’s time.”

He rushed to the room where Zhuang Ding had peeked out. Upon entering, sure enough, the Queen was there, lying on a thick blanket.

Zhuang Ding was diligently dragging a sofa cushion over. Wang Bo helped place it under the blanket.

The Queen struggled onto it, licked his hand with her tongue, her eyes sparkling as always, calm and serene.

Wang Bo gently petted her head and checked her condition. Her belly was swollen and pink, her mammary glands full, and sticky fluids were leaking from her lower body.

Because Eva was pregnant, Wang Bo had brushed up on childbirth knowledge and immediately realized—her water had broken; the Queen was about to give birth!

Eva rushed over and opened all the windows for ventilation.

Dale anxiously asked, “Sister, the Queen is having her puppies, right?”

Eva nodded. “Yes. Go prepare some warm milk and have Uncle cook some beef bone soup. Make sure the milk is warm, not too hot, okay?”

“But… it’s school time,” Dale said.

Eva replied, “You don’t have to go to school today.”

Dale’s eyes lit up as she grabbed the Queen’s food bowl and ran off.

Zhuang Ding stayed by the Queen’s side. Though not the father, he acted like a responsible dad—dragging blankets and cushions and guarding her.

Eva sighed. “The Queen is so independent, she doesn’t want us to worry about anything.”

Wang Bo stroked the Queen’s fur. “Exactly, that’s why she’s our best daughter.”

Half an hour later, the Queen began giving birth. A small, black, wriggling puppy was slowly delivered.

The Queen could bite through the umbilical cord herself. Since Eva’s belly made it hard to squat, she instructed Wang Bo to help.

Though help wasn’t really necessary—the Queen could handle it all herself, licking the wet newborns and placing them on her belly to keep them warm.

Dale watched curiously. “Sister, why are the puppy’s ears pink?”

Eva explained, “Because it hasn’t grown fur yet. Its eyes are closed too. When its eyes open, its ears will turn like the Queen’s.”

The newborn Rottweilers had short black fur, with pink ears, mouths, and paws—round, chubby, and wriggling on the Queen’s belly.

Soon, the second puppy arrived, and the Queen repeated the process. Two became three, three became four…

Eventually, the Queen grew tired. Wang Bo fed her some warm milk and bone soup with glucose, revitalizing her energy.

Dale asked, “Brother-in-law, when will the Queen finish?”

Wang Bo said, “Soon. Usually four to eight puppies. At least half are out now.”

When the birthing finally ended, everyone was stunned.

A pile of wriggling little bodies surrounded the Queen. Wang Bo counted again: “Fourteen… fourteen… fourteen!”

From what he’d read, Rottweilers rarely give birth to more than eight pups, and over ten is extremely rare.

The Queen had proven experience unreliable—she had delivered fourteen Rottweiler puppies at once!

Obviously, she couldn’t nurse them all by herself. Luckily, Williams quickly arranged for two lactating female dogs from nearby to assist.
