HLM -Chapter 1112 We’re Staying

Happy Little Mayor 5 min read 1112 of 1443 33

The first weekend of late October, which was also the first weekend after the church’s completion, Bishop Rooney organized an event. This service was going to be very grand.

In 2002, when the Queen of England visited New Zealand, then-Prime Minister Clark hosted a state banquet for her. However, no senior clergy were arranged to lead the pre-meal prayer, which caused an uproar in the Christian world.

At the time, all believers condemned Clark, but he felt wronged and explained that it was the Queen’s request. When journalists asked the Queen, she confirmed it and said that New Zealand was a secular country and that few people still prayed before meals.

Wang Bo didn’t know if this was true. Anyway, in the castle, they had never done pre-meal prayers.

From statistics, the Queen seemed correct. The number of Christians in New Zealand has been declining, and many people only go to church for weddings of friends or relatives, or for major holidays like Christmas or Easter.

This was an important topic in New Zealand. Sunset Town Elementary had canceled theology courses, not teaching religious doctrines, whereas the Princess and Sir School, supported by the royal family, still offered them.

On Sunday morning, Wang Bo got dressed to go to church. At that moment, Lancaster and the others found him and said they were leaving.

The second-generation elites had been in Sunset Town for over ten days. During this period, they had visited the secluded South Island town of Bartley-Ford once, but mostly stayed in Sunset Town. Wang Bo had grown accustomed to their presence.

Hearing they were leaving, he asked, “Are you sure? Won’t you stay a bit longer? The town and I are very welcoming.”

Lancaster shrugged. “Honestly, we’d love to stay, but we came here on holiday. Our vacation was only ten days, and we’ve already overstayed.”

“Yes, Sunset Town is beautiful and wonderful. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have stayed this long. We’ll miss it here, and of course, we’ll miss you, Wang,” Wendy said.

Williams hugged him. “You’re always welcome in England. Anytime you go to Europe, just let us know, and we’ll host you even more warmly.”

Wang Bo looked at Samir, who smiled and said, “I’ll stay.”

“Ah?!” Everyone was shocked.

Samir pointed to the villa area. “There are twenty-six villas left unsold, right? I’ll buy one and live there.”

Wang Bo said, “No need. You can stay in my castle. For the sake of God and Hugo, I’d be glad to have you.”

Samir smiled. “But I don’t want to owe Hugo, and even less God. Most importantly, I’m not staying just a few days—I might live here mainly from now on.”

Earlier it was just surprise, but after hearing this, they were stunned.

Wang Bo stared at him. “You don’t mean immigration, right?”

“Of course not, just long-term residence,” Samir said.

Williams looked at him. “What are you doing? Long-term in Sunset Town? What about your work?”

Samir gave a wry smile. “You know I’m unhappy at work, right? While staying at the Starlight Wormhole, I thought about it. If that’s the case, why go back to work?”

“You…”

“Listen, guys, I’ve seriously thought about this. I feel exhausted. Staying in Sunset Town relaxes me. So why not stay? Maybe one day, after I’ve rested enough, I’ll go back to work,” Samir interrupted Lancaster.

He looked at Wang Bo. “Mayor Wang, I know you’ve invested in establishing a comprehensive company. Do you need a consultant? I have dual master’s degrees in Management and Business from Oxford and experience working at two Fortune 500 companies.”

Wang Bo stammered, “I’d love that, but I think you—”

“Exactly. Since you feel this way, why not return to the Kimbas Group? Aren’t you still doing business here?”

Samir laughed. “So, next, I’m applying for a job—Mr. Wang, management consulting is part-time. I also want a second job: your ranch. Are you still short on cowboys?”

“Oh, sh*t. You’re going to raise cattle?” Williams said dramatically.

Samir shrugged. “Why not? Not only cattle, but also dogs. You’ve seen those sheepdogs, right? They’re great.”

Williams blinked. “I’m kind of tempted too.”

Lancaster looked defeated. “Great, Mr. and Mrs. Samir will blame me when we go back.”

Samir waved. “That’s not my problem. I’m staying in Sunset Town for now. Once I’ve rested enough, I’ll go back.”

Wendy tapped his chest. “Think carefully. You’ve been happy these days because we were with you. When we’re gone, being alone, it may not be so fun.”

Samir said, “I’ve thought it through. Don’t you know me? Let me take a long break to do what I want and enjoy. Wendy, maybe one day you’ll understand my thoughts and make the same choice—for example, you might want to design a beautiful cliffside community here.”

Wendy said, “Yes, I’ll go back to designing…”

“Once back, you’ll be busy with nightlife and social obligations,” Samir shook his head. “Your dream will quickly become an abandoned toy in a corner. Ten or twenty years later, you might recall it.”

Wendy looked at Samir. “What do you mean?”

Samir said, “You know. I’m just being honest.”

Wendy gazed at the distant flower fields and rippling lake, eyes calm.

Lancaster was stunned. “What are you two talking about?”

Wendy remained silent for a while, then suddenly spoke. “You’re right, Rudolph. Then I’ll stay too. I want to build this community.”

“You’re crazy?!”

“Just taking a long break for myself. What’s wrong with that? I’m not going to hide out here. Work that can be done online or by phone, I can manage,” Wendy said.

Everyone looked at Williams, who forced a laugh. “I need to go back, not for family business. You know, it’s already difficult for me to take this vacation. Working at Goldman Sachs isn’t easy.”

“I remember, Wang said he wanted to train a group of dogs to compete in Alaska?” Wendy said with a mischievous smile.

Williams buried his head in his hands. “Don’t do this, guys. We’re brothers—don’t make me waver! Getting into Goldman Sachs wasn’t easy!”

“You choose, then. Keep letting your dog trainer raise dogs for you,” Samir said.

Williams sighed, patted Lancaster on the shoulder, and said, “You go back first. I’ll also take this long vacation.”
