HLM – Chapter 1065 Chaos

Wang Bo and Song Zijun had agreed that when his salvage team reached the shallow sea area, they would call him along to check out the underwater situation together.

If he were alone, he wouldn’t have gone diving for the adventure. In their hometown, there was an old saying: “Deceive the mountains, not the waters; fool the sky, not the sea.” It meant it was better to climb a mountain than to swim—climbing might at worst break an arm or leg, but swimming mishaps could be fatal and almost impossible to recover from.

But now that a professional diving team was following, Wang Bo had no fear.

That night, he stayed at Song Zijun’s seaside villa. Its location was similar to Wang Bo’s castle, perched on the hillside by the sea, with a view of the vast ocean from the room. However, compared to the castle, this villa, though luxurious and gilded, lacked that majestic aura and the weight of history.

Before sleeping, Wang Bo opened his territory drawer and drew a Level-3 Territory Heart, a Spirit Spring Heart. After thinking for a moment, he gave it to the Spirit Spring along the path of the Birth Flowers. Every winter, many Birth Flowers would freeze and die. Wang Bo hoped that with the Spirit Spring’s protection, more of them would survive this year.

The next morning, Wang Bo drove back. On the rural town road, a Wuling Sunshine van suddenly shot out from a side road.

Wang Bo was used to driving speeds in New Zealand, and this time he was going around 80 km/h. When the van suddenly surged out, he slammed the brakes, but still “crash!”—he collided with it.

In this traffic accident, he was partially at fault, but the van bore the greater responsibility—it had not only suddenly appeared but was driving at nearly the same speed as him. Luckily, Wang Bo had braked in time, so it was just a collision, nothing serious.

However, the princess suffered. She had been happily dozing on Eva’s plump lap, drowsily enjoying herself, when she was suddenly thrown out, landing on the dashboard and getting stunned.

Wang Bo quickly stopped the car. This was a car he had borrowed from Zhong Dabao—though not a great vehicle, it had only been purchased for less than two months, and for it to have a problem while in his hands would not look good.

A head popped out of the van’s driver side window, and the man cursed: “What the hell, driving a shitty car? Looking to die?”

The passenger said, “Stop whining. Let’s go quickly!”

“Bullshit! Give me money, 500 bucks, or I’ll deal with you later,” the driver still insisted.

Wang Bo got out. His car’s front had smashed into the van’s door; the headlight was broken, and the door was dented inward. He grabbed the van’s door and shouted angrily: “Come on, come on! No need to talk back. Come down now and deal with me if you dare!”

The passenger held the door firmly and said, “Alright, alright, man, it’s just a small matter. Let’s just handle it through insurance, okay?”

If they had spoken reasonably, Wang Bo would have been willing to claim insurance and resolve the issue—just a broken headlight, he could even buy Zhong Dabao a new car without a problem. But they started with insults, which angered him.

Frowning, he said, “Insurance? Get out here and call the cops. Let the traffic police handle it.”

“Shut your mouth and get out here, you punk!” the driver cursed, slamming the door.

Another door opened, and two more burly men got out.

Qingyang and Li Xing had come back with Wang Bo as guests. Seeing the aggressiveness of the van occupants, Li Xing quickly took off his T-shirt, revealing a body full of scars and tattoos, and leapt out.

Qingyang just laughed: “All that muscle, and you’re just for show, right?”

Li Xing’s face turned serious. He assumed the fierce posture he had honed during his time fighting in the Middle East.

Even if he were alone, Wang Bo wouldn’t have feared these men. Now that he had backup, he felt confident.

The driver was arrogant and overbearing, and Wang Bo was genuinely annoyed. He was one to respond to force with caution, but now he clenched his fists, ready to strike first.

At that moment, the roar of motorcycles came from the rural road. The men who had just gotten out of the van changed expressions immediately, ready to rush forward.

Wang Bo grabbed the driver. The driver struggled, but Wang Bo twisted his arm and threw him to the ground.

Motorcycles sped toward them. Wang Bo was surprised: five bikes approached in succession, some carrying one person, some two, all wielding sticks, harpoons, and other tools. They encircled the scene.

A young man shouted, “Second Uncle! It’s this shitty car! These are the ones—no doubt about it!”

A burly man with a full beard shouted, “Damn it! Smash their car, take them back!”

Someone else asked, “Which car has the dog thieves?”

Seeing the harpoon-wielding youth approaching, and recalling the van passengers’ earlier reaction, Wang Bo realized what was happening.

No wonder the van had been speeding. Damn it—they were dog thieves. Someone in the village must have caught them, and they were trying to escape. The collision was likely unexpected, and the driver had wanted to extort him.

Wang Bo quickly kicked the driver to the ground: “This has nothing to do with me. They hit my car, so I’m dealing with them!”

The bearded man raised a steel rod to hit the driver, while others eyed Wang Bo warily. “You’re from out of town. Can’t tell whose side you’re on.”

Wang Bo was furious. “From out of town my ass! I’ve been speaking Mandarin since high school, and my accent is just a bit different because I’ve lived abroad!”

Li Xing and Qingyang were relatively safe. Some men approached them, but seeing Li Xing covered in scars and looking menacing, they turned back halfway.

The men from the van scattered, and chaos erupted. The passenger raised a crude-looking crossbow and shouted, “My arrows are poisoned! Anyone who comes up gets shot!”

Wang Bo was genuinely scared. He knew the local dog thieves’ tricks—crossbow darts coated with cyanide chloride, deadly if they hit.

The crossbow was aimed at him, and cold sweat ran down his back.

In a flash, a white shadow streaked across. The passenger screamed, dropping the crossbow, clutching his bleeding right wrist.

The princess leapt agilely from the car, glaring furiously at the man, and grabbed the crossbow to bring it to Wang Bo—clearly seeking revenge.

Earlier, she had been thrown onto the dashboard, and it had hurt. Now she had identified the culprit—the snow fox’s sense of vengeance was strong!
