Seeing that Huang Ran had finally made his move, Sun Desheng smiled strangely. He then dragged the somewhat unwilling Che Qianzi over to a nearby coffin on the left, deliberately widening the distance between themselves and Huang Ran.
“Boss, if I had done that, you would definitely have noticed. I didn’t dare take that risk with you…” the bearded man said. As he spoke, he pulled off his coat and continued, “You’re the smartest man I’ve ever met. I was careful every step of the way and didn’t dare relax for a moment, yet I still exposed a flaw. Before I die, can you tell me where I slipped up?”
Halfway through speaking, Aiden suddenly curled his tongue and forcefully blew toward Huang Ran.
At the same instant, Huang Ran raised his hand in front of himself. A crisp metallic clang rang out, accompanied by a shower of sparks.
Only then did Che Qianzi notice that Huang Ran was holding the lower half of the snake that had been torn apart by the corpse. Embedded in the snake’s scales was a copper needle the size of a toothpick.
The needle looked familiar. It was exactly the same as the copper needles Yang Xiao had found earlier in the mouths of the dead foreigners outside.
Only now did Che Qianzi understand—the foreigners who had died earlier had all been killed by this bearded man, Aiden.
Seeing his surprise attack fail, Aiden blew again. Several copper needles shot from his mouth in succession, flying toward Huang Ran’s vital points.
This time Huang Ran didn’t dare block them head-on. He shoved Meng Qiqi aside and, despite his massive body, moved with astonishing agility. He narrowly dodged the needles one after another, each passing close enough to graze his skin without causing injury.
One missed needle shot into the coffin behind which Sun Desheng and Che Qianzi were hiding. It pierced straight through the thick wood, leaving two pin-sized holes.
Seeing the terrifying power of the needles, Che Qianzi said:
“So the one who killed those people wasn’t Wan Changluo—it was this bearded bastard!”
Sun Desheng kept watching Huang Ran and Aiden’s fight as he replied:
“Only figured it out now, brother? Wan Changluo and this big beard are on the same side. Everyone was guarding against Boss Wan, but nobody expected the real killer to be him.
The foreigners who were shot by copper needles outside probably weren’t Wan Changluo’s men. That’s why the big beard deliberately triggered the Life-Severing Formation after entering the tomb and used the chaos to kill them—
Brother, duck!”
Before he could finish, Sun Desheng suddenly shouted and crouched, covering his head.
A copper needle whizzed past his scalp, slicing a bloody groove across it.
Thinking his head had been pierced through, Sun Desheng screamed in terror. Only after realizing it was merely a flesh wound did he calm down.
Over the past few days, Sun Desheng had taken good care of Che Qianzi and had helped him many times. In his heart, Che Qianzi truly regarded the fat man as an older brother.
Seeing Sun Desheng nearly get his head blown off, Che Qianzi’s blood immediately boiled. Ignoring everything else, he leapt out from behind the coffin and charged at the bearded man.
“You son of a bitch! If I don’t kill you today, I’ll take your surname!”
Drawing his short sword, he rushed straight toward Aiden.
Although Che Qianzi fought like a rabid dog, he wasn’t stupid. Aiden had almost cornered Huang Ran to death. The nearly three-hundred-pound Huang Ran could dodge for a while, but his stamina was giving out. His clothes were soaked with sweat, and he was desperately avoiding the copper needles.
Hearing such vicious insults, Aiden lost focus for a moment.
Who dares curse me like that?
Ever since mastering spirit manipulation and obtaining the copper needles and artifact diagrams, anyone who had dared insult him had long since died.
Who was this suicidal enemy?
Instinctively, Aiden turned to look at Che Qianzi. Curling his tongue, he launched another hidden needle at him.
But Che Qianzi was prepared. Seeing Aiden turn his head, he immediately shifted position. The first needle missed by a hair. Had he paused for even half a second, it would have pierced his throat.
Seeing Che Qianzi in danger, Sun Desheng couldn’t sit still anymore.
Raising his shotgun, he charged out as well.
Compared with Che Qianzi, Sun Desheng was far more cunning. Without making a sound, he pulled the trigger.
Boom!
A rain of steel pellets blasted toward Aiden.
By the time Aiden heard the gunshot, it was too late to dodge.
More than half the pellets struck his body, and the impact knocked him flat onto the ground.
Sensing an opportunity, Sun Desheng fired again.
Boom!
Another wave of pellets poured toward the fallen Aiden.
But at almost the same moment Sun Desheng fired, Aiden slammed his blood-covered palm against the ground.
The instant his hand touched the floor, the bearded man vanished.
Half a second later, Sun Desheng’s shotgun blast riddled the ground where he had been with dozens of finger-sized holes.
“Be careful! He’s still here!”
The one shouting was Huang Ran.
Ignoring the sweat drenching his body, he shouted to Sun Desheng and Che Qianzi:
“That’s the Blood-Hand Escape Technique! Its range is only a few dozen meters. Be care—”
Before he could finish, the coffin they had previously hidden behind suddenly toppled over, as though something inside had pushed it.
A tremendous force burst from within, blasting the lid away.
Covered in blood, Aiden climbed out from inside.
Huang Ran had been right.
Aiden’s escape technique was far inferior to Yang Xiao’s. He could only temporarily evade danger and couldn’t leave the golden platform chamber. Worse still, he couldn’t choose where he emerged.
By sheer bad luck, he had materialized inside a coffin.
Never had Aiden imagined he would be reduced to such a miserable state by Sun Desheng and Che Qianzi.
Ignoring Wan Changluo’s repeated instructions to protect the coffins, he finally abandoned all restraint.
Even if he destroyed the coffins, he no longer cared.
His face turned blood-red.
Abandoning the copper needles, he blurred into motion and charged straight at Che Qianzi.
He moved with incredible speed.
Sun Desheng fired three consecutive shots, releasing over a hundred steel pellets, but not a single one struck the bearded man.
By the time he tried to fire a fourth shot, Aiden had already reached Che Qianzi.
Just as the big beard stretched out his hand to seize the young Taoist’s throat, he suddenly let out a miserable scream and staggered backward.
Only when he retreated to the edge of the golden platform did everyone see what had happened.
A large copper spike—the same kind used by Yang Xiao—had pierced through the back of his hand.
The spike had completely penetrated his palm.
Aiden tried several times to pull it out, but each touch brought agony so intense that he nearly fainted.
In the end, he could only grit his teeth and endure the pain, not daring to touch the spike again.
“Yang Xiao! Come out!”
The appearance of the copper spike proved that Yang Xiao was indeed hiding somewhere in the chamber.
Now Aiden’s priority was to kill the white-haired man first. Only then could he deal with the others.
But the problem was that he was in the open while Yang Xiao remained hidden.
If he wanted to lure him out, he would need another method.
Having no better choice, Aiden shouted several times, but no answer came.
At last, he made up his mind.
With his good hand, he flicked his wrist violently.
Dozens of copper needles flew toward Che Qianzi.
Let’s see whether Yang Xiao is willing to save him…
