When Che Qianzi opened his eyes again, he found himself back in that familiar ICU ward.
Sun Desheng was sitting by his bedside, talking to Shen La.
“Honestly, it’s just a woman,” Sun Desheng said casually. “Lose one Xiao Zhao, there’s Xiao Qian, Xiao Sun, Xiao Li… La-zi, you can’t hang yourself from one tree.”
Shen La shook his head with a bitter expression.
“You don’t understand. I thought it was really her this time. We even planned to meet her parents in a few days. Then suddenly she said it was over and stopped contacting me… Da Sheng, do you think she found someone better? Zhao Qing doesn’t seem like that kind of person.”
Sun Desheng smiled faintly and patted his shoulder.
“People’s hearts are hard to read. How would you know?”
Then he turned.
“Oh, Third Brother’s awake… you scared your two brothers to death.”
Unlike previous times, Che Qianzi wasn’t seriously injured this time. He felt normal, as if he had only slept.
He sat up, tried to recall how he ended up here, and then suddenly jumped up and shouted:
“That guy with the surname Wu is taking advantage of his damn—”
Before he could finish, Sun Desheng quickly covered his mouth.
“Little ancestor, calm down… this time he had a reason to hit you. Listen to me first—Da Ren Wu is really your father.”
“OUCH!”
Before he finished speaking, Che Qianzi kicked him right in the stomach, making the fat man squat in pain.
At that moment, Shen La rushed over and pinned Che Qianzi down on the bed.
Even restrained, Che Qianzi still struggled wildly.
Sun Desheng, clutching his stomach, took out some photos and said:
“Brother, I know you don’t believe it. But this is the truth. Look—this is a photo from twenty years ago. Your mother and her uncle… and this one, her with your father.”
The woman in the photos was with a younger, black-haired Wu Rendi.
Che Qianzi still shook his head violently.
“Fake! All fake! You photoshopped these!”
“And there’s a witness,” Sun Desheng added. “Look at who’s on the next bed.”
On the adjacent bed lay Yang Xiao, covered in tubes, severely injured, even on a ventilator.
Then Sun Desheng played a video on his phone.
In it, Wu Rendi was seen saying coldly:
“Who told you to hit my son?”
Yang Xiao had been terrified beyond recognition, vomiting blood mist and collapsing instantly under a single move.
“No one even saw how he did it,” Sun Desheng said. “If he’s not your father, why would he go that far?”
Yang Xiao suddenly opened his eyes.
“Let me say it again… I’m a vegetable right now. Don’t ask me anything.”
Just then, the door opened.
An old man walked in smiling—Kong Dalong.
“Enough, enough,” he said cheerfully. “Stop bullying my boy like this.”
When Che Qianzi saw him, he finally stopped resisting. Tears welled up in his eyes.
“Old man… you finally came back… let’s go home… I don’t want to stay here anymore…”
Kong Dalong hugged him gently.
“I’m sorry… I should’ve let you recognize your father earlier.”
Outside the room, Sun Desheng and Shen La quietly stepped out.
Yang Xiao, still hooked to tubes, followed them out.
“I’m still a vegetable… but I’m afraid of dying,” he muttered. “If I hear something I shouldn’t, your boss might silence me…”
They were talking nonsense in the corridor when the door opened again.
Kong Dalong poked his head out.
“Alright, he’s calmed down. Get him something to eat. I need some air.”
As he walked toward the hospital exit, a cold voice came from behind him:
“Let’s talk.”
