Chapter 64 The “Farmed” Boss (Part 1)

After the Evil Mother-in-Law Was Reborn, the Whole Family’s Plot Fell Apart 7 min read 64 of 68 2

This kind of test wasn’t conducted just once.

It happened when they took his mom to meet Song Na, when he went to the bar with Xu Lianghan and Xu Chengyan, and later when Wei Kaihao invited them out for dinner—several more times then.

It could be said that as long as his mom stepped out of the house, there would always be comrades appearing in front of her. But so far, not a single one had succeeded.

If it weren’t for the fact that everything his mom had “said” later came true—and that even Jiang Chongming and his wife had joined the group of people who could hear her inner thoughts—this whole matter would’ve been hard to explain.

Qin Shibo gave a light cough, looking a bit uncomfortable. “That was because we didn’t understand the situation at the beginning. Once we had so much evidence later, everyone believed it.”

“Or maybe you’ve just been farming too many merits?” Ru Anzhi knew them all too well.
Every single one of them wanted to rack up more achievements.

Normally, their missions were extremely dangerous, and comrades often had to risk their lives just to earn those merits. But this time was different. Though they were still dealing with dangerous individuals, they already had “solid” evidence in advance, making arrests much easier.

If they hadn’t been trying to catch bigger fish, Song Na and Bai Ling would’ve been taken down long ago.

Qin Shibo said, “Don’t put it like that. Everyone’s doing this because they care about your safety and your family’s.”

“Then thanks a lot!”

As the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together.

Later, when Ru Anzhi’s teammates investigated “Lan Yuanzhong,” they indeed found problems.

The issue wasn’t with Lan Yuanzhong himself, but with the people he associated with.

Because he knew about Ru Anzhi’s background (he knew Ru Anzhi had joined the military back then, though not which unit), Lan Yuanzhong had been careful not to offend him and behaved quite honestly. But the people he hung around with weren’t nearly as restrained.

While they didn’t go as far as abusing animals, their chaotic romantic and sexual relationships were enough to make one gasp.

“I think you should listen to your mom from now on.”

Ru Anzhi looked confused.

“Forget it. Just see for yourself. I can’t explain it.”

The comrade tossed the investigation files onto Ru Anzhi’s desk. As he flipped through them, his expression darkened.

His comrade was right—those things his mom had once muttered about, like marriage scams… they actually existed?!

They would deliberately find a girlfriend, marry her, have a child—and then subject her to cold violence until she initiated a divorce.

In the end, the woman wouldn’t even understand what had happened, only thinking their relationship had faded or that the man had fallen out of love.

“If she ever finds out the truth, she’ll be furious to death!”

Staring at the child mentioned in the file, Ru Anzhi asked, “What about the child? Just awarded to the father like that?”

“What else could be done? The man has a stable job and it’s a son. He got married for the child in the first place—how could he give the child to the woman? Right after marriage, he coaxed her into quitting her job to become a housewife. Over time, she had ‘no income.’ Without financial means, how could a judge award her custody?”

Ru Anzhi felt suffocated with frustration.

“You know what’s most infuriating? We can’t even say anything.”

Ru Anzhi opened his mouth, about to argue how that could be—

But his comrade continued, “If she doesn’t know the truth, at least she thinks she just went through a failed marriage. But if you tell her everything—about the child, about the marriage scam—that’s when the real pain begins.”

“So what if it’s painful? Being painfully aware is still better than living in confusion!” Ruan Yaoyao said angrily, thinking Ru Anzhi had lost his mind. Since they had found out, of course they should tell her.

Yu Xiangqiao didn’t dare say a word.

Even though her mother-in-law was a generation older, sometimes she felt like her mother-in-law was even more “naive” than she was.

“We have to tell her,” Ruan Yaoyao said firmly. “If you’re too embarrassed, I’ll do it. It’s just a marriage scammer—don’t think I won’t destroy him…”

“Mom, killing someone is illegal!”

“That’s a figure of speech!” Ruan Yaoyao snapped, glaring at him. “Now you care about what’s illegal? Your friend’s friends did something this disgusting—why didn’t I hear you say that’s illegal?”

It was indeed illegal, but in a different sense. One was a criminal offense—once discovered, the person would be arrested. The other was a civil matter—if no one reported it, authorities wouldn’t intervene.

Ru Anzhi had no ground to stand on and didn’t dare argue. He could only emphasize that while Lan Yuanzhong was his friend, those men were not.

He had only asked his comrades to look into Lan Yuanzhong—he hadn’t expected to uncover a group of scum.

“Mom, if you think this is too troublesome, just forget it—”

Before he could finish, Ruan Yaoyao angrily cut him off: “What do you mean troublesome? It’s not troublesome at all. We just quietly pass information to those women—without anyone noticing—and let them decide whether to settle the score themselves. Don’t worry, I know what to do. I’ll help them find jobs, recommend lawyers… I’ll make sure they win the case!”

She even reminded Ru Anzhi to stay away from Lan Yuanzhong in the future. If his friends were like that, he might not be much better.

It wasn’t about discrimination. If they were in open, consensual relationships, that would be one thing. But deceiving women into marriage, manipulating their feelings, and tricking them into having children—that was going too far.

“With their kind of background, what’s even worth passing on genetically? Have some shame!”

“Impossible!” Su Zhenman shot to her feet, furious. She thought the woman in front of her was insane for speaking about her ex-husband like that.

Yes, she had divorced him.

But it had been a “peaceful divorce”!

“I know you don’t believe it. Many women didn’t believe me before I showed them the evidence. But once they saw it, they did,” Ruan Yaoyao said calmly. “Don’t rush. Since I asked you to come, I definitely have proof. I just didn’t hand it to you immediately because I was worried you wouldn’t be able to handle it. I wanted to prepare you first.”

“Then show it to me.”

“You don’t have heart problems or anything like that, right?”

“You’re the one with problems! Are you giving it or not? If you keep talking nonsense, I’m calling the police!”

Ruan Yaoyao didn’t waste any more time. She signaled her bodyguard to bring it out.

It was a large yellow-brown document envelope, unmarked and unsealed, thick with contents. It was placed on the table and pushed toward Su Zhenman.

For some reason, Su Zhenman suddenly felt nervous.

If what this woman said was true, how devastating would it be? What would everything she had with Cao Liang even mean?

Taking a deep breath, she reached out, picked up the envelope, and pulled out the documents.

The moment she saw photo after photo of him being intimate with other men, her mind exploded with a loud boom.

She kept muttering that it was impossible—but she recognized the person in the photos.

Some things had always left faint traces. She just hadn’t thought in that direction before.

But now…

Now, as she sifted through her memories, she began to notice all the things she had once overlooked.

She had even joked before:

“I think you’d make quite the good househusband—you’re more patient with kids than I am!”
