【It’s been so long… why hasn’t anything happened yet?】
【Could it be… they’ve already arrived?】
【I’m done for!】
【I’m done for!】
【With these old arms and legs of mine, how could I possibly be their opponent?】
【This time I’m really dead!】
【Aaaahhhh… Ru Anzhi, you bastard! I said I wanted to cut off our mother-son relationship, and you refused. Now look what happened—I’m going to die because of you!】
【Just wait till I get out of here—first thing I’ll do is sever ties with you!】
…
Liang Shishi: Didn’t expect Ru Anzhi to look so cold on the outside, but his mom is actually this lively!
Could it be he takes after his father?
Then how did his dad manage to win over his mom?
Her thoughts ran wild, but her eyes remained fixed outside. One hand gripped the steering wheel, while the other rested silently on her wristwatch. The moment anything seemed off, she would send out a distress signal and transmit her location.
Knock knock—
Someone tapped on the car window. Liang Shishi quickly turned her head, surprised to find that the man had somehow gotten out of his car and was already standing beside hers.
When did he get here?!
She rolled down the window, looking at him in confusion. “What is it?”
Du Huaqing stared at her. “Why are you following me?”
“Following you? No, I’m following my friend’s car.” Liang Shishi pointed toward the black sedan parked in the dead-end alley. “Look—that one, the black Bentley…”
“That’s an Aston Martin.”
“No way. I know Bentley—Bentleys have wings.” Liang Shishi said this with complete seriousness, utterly convinced.
Her friend’s car was black with wings. There was no way she got it wrong.
“Not every black car with wings is your friend’s. This is an Aston Martin. If you don’t believe me, get out and take a look—see if the person you’re looking for is inside.”
Liang Shishi felt that something wasn’t quite right and had no intention of getting out. “No need. I’ll just make a call.”
She pulled out her phone, clearly preparing to dial.
Obviously, Du Huaqing didn’t want her making that call. He stared at her and said, “Didn’t you say that car belongs to your friend? It’s right there—why call? Just go ask him directly.”
But Liang Shishi had already dialed, even putting it on speaker.
“Sixth Bro, wake up and get moving! The sun’s already high in the sky. Where did you drive off to? I followed your Bentley for ages and ended up in a dead-end alley. This guy says I followed the wrong car—something Martin…”
“Oh right, what’s your car called again?” she asked Du Huaqing, as if she had completely forgotten.
Du Huaqing: “Aston Martin Qing!”
“So that’s where your car went—you drove to the wrong place and followed someone else?” A rough male voice came from the other end, sounding exasperated. “How did you end up following an Aston Martin? Where are you now?”
Liang Shishi pretended to be annoyed. “And you have the nerve to say that? Didn’t you tell me your car was black with wings and to follow it? So I followed a black car with wings!”
“Big sis, how was I supposed to know you can’t tell a Bentley from an Aston Martin? Sure, both logos have wings, but mine has a big ‘B’—couldn’t you see that?”
The two of them started arguing right there over the phone.
Du Huaqing simply stood by the car, watching without saying a word.
Liang Shishi hadn’t expected this man to be so patient—actually watching her argue. Just as she was about to send her location to Sixth Bro for backup, he suddenly reached out to snatch her phone.
But Liang Shishi had been prepared. She let go instantly, and the phone dropped into the car. With a panicked expression, she said, “What are you doing? Why are you grabbing my phone? I just mistook the car logo—was that really necessary?”
Failing to grab the phone, Du Huaqing grabbed her arm instead, trying to yank her out through the window—intending to pin her against it and unlock the door to drag her out.
But who was Liang Shishi?
She had once been a top soldier in a field operations unit, later transferred to a special forces team due to her outstanding performance, carrying out numerous dangerous missions. If not for the extreme risk of her latest assignment—and her superiors’ concern over potential PTSD—she wouldn’t have been forced into leave.
Her reaction was lightning-fast. Not only did she avoid being restrained by Du Huaqing, she seized his arm and pinned his upper body against the car window.
While pressing the switch to open the internal storage compartment, she pulled out a rope and began tying up his arms. At the same time, she used her foot to press the door controls, using the window to trap his body.
This car window had no anti-pinch feature—it was purely mechanical. One press, and it could easily break someone’s waist.
Du Huaqing cried out in pain, finally realizing that this woman wasn’t just intimidating—she was genuinely dangerous.
Liang Shishi bound his wrists tightly to the seat, leaving him completely immobilized.
Then she grabbed another rope and a self-defense baton, got out from the other side of the car, and tied his legs and knees, securing them to the baton.
Now, Du Huaqing couldn’t even struggle.
All he could do was watch helplessly as Liang Shishi ran toward his car.
“Stop right there!”
“You female bandit! What are you trying to do?!”
“This is illegal kidnapping—I’m calling the police—!”
Liang Shishi ignored him completely. Holding the phone, she said to “Sixth Bro,” “Target secured. Situation unclear. So far, only one person found…”
“Be careful. We’re already on our way. If anything seems off, wait for us.”
“Got it. Don’t worry—I know what I’m doing.”
…
【Huh?】
【It’s gone quiet?】
Inside the trunk, Ruan Yaoyao thought she heard something, but wasn’t sure.
She wriggled like a caterpillar, trying to press closer to the car wall to listen more clearly.
【Could it be… someone came to rescue me?】
【That seems unlikely… I was just kidnapped—how could it be so fast…】
Before she could finish thinking, she heard the trunk unlock, followed by a pleasant female voice:
“I’m going to open the trunk. It’s dark inside—if there’s someone, please close your eyes. Three, two, one…”
Ruan Yaoyao shut her eyes, hearing the trunk open. Even with her eyes closed, she could feel the sudden flood of light.
Her breathing grew tense.
【Am I… saved?!】
Liang Shishi’s pupils dilated: Holy crap! Do I really have some kind of superpower?!
【I’m really saved?!】
【Ahhh… I’m saved!】
【That’s great—my hero…】
But when Ruan Yaoyao’s eyes adjusted and she opened them, she froze.
【Holy crap!】
【An “Iron Rose”?!】
She stared at the four glowing words above Liang Shishi’s head, unable to believe it.
【No way…】
【Am I seriously this unlucky—just escaped the wolf’s den only to fall into a tiger’s lair?!】
